OK here's more detail to my initial answer about the 3 units in question. I will leave the FBS machines out because that wasn't part of the question. By the way my ground is 4-5 bars so I speak for those conditions only.
I don't have the Vista X but I do have a Tesoro Bandido II uMax which the unit has been compared to. It's also been compared to the Tejon but in any case t

Stay with the Equinox, better ID on the deep stuff. You can cherry pick nickels with it too. The Tarsacci and the Vista X might be deeper but you'll dig more trash.

I did a videos a while back with the Tarsacci, Equinox, Deus and GPX on a site with moderate to heavy iron.. Never made it public but come Monday maybe I will. My dirt is 4-5 bars so the gains I see from the Tarsacci are going to be better than those in mild dirt. If I'm going to hit a site absolutely loaded with iron I'm still going to grab the Deus first thing. IMO the Deus is still k

Tom-really happy to hear about all the improvements planned for the Tarsacci. Large coil for depth small coil for separation, man I would love to run a small coil through some of my sites.
Haven't been hunting much lately due to the heat and fields are full of crops. But some harvesting will start this week and the Tarsacci will be my most used machine. It does take a while for that light

I've got 4-5 bar dirt so not as bad as Culpeper. But, my soil is also very alkaline, so I have two issues. The Tarsacci ground balances between 680 and 807 depending on where I'm hunting and salt balances at 44. 2-3 points points off 44 and I'm out of balance. Until I got the Equinox there wasn't a machine I owned that could accurately ID a dime more than 6" deep. An 8&qu

Tom-That is exactly what has kept me from using the Tarsacci at a park. Too many good coins ID in the mid-tone range. When I'm relic hunting, I dig everything so it's not and issue.
Keith-That is exactly what I do when I get to an iron infested relic site. I use the salt balance to take the edge off the iron but I do it differently. I will elaborate on my way a little later when I ha

I gotta say I'm using the Tarsacci more than my Equinox relic hunting these days.
My preferences in cleaner ground in this order are Tarsacci, Equinox, GPX. If the iron is really bad I'll start with the Deus and see what's left with the Tarsacci.

Tom all the targets were ID'ing as non-ferrous, that day I wasn't digging anything iffy. The sharps was about 11" deep and was in the area with the thickest iron nails on the site, it gave a good solid positive ID ping at 22 ish. The round balls came from pretty impressive depths and give the best response of any VLF'ish detector I've used except maybe the Equinox. They s

Here's some relics I found last week with the Tarsacci from a military site we've been hunting pretty heavy over the years. The site is moderately iron infested and most of the stuff that's left is deep.

I personally have no problem with the AQ limited and it's limited battery life (I'll get 2 batteries) and depth rating (I usually hunt the wet sand and wade very little). I asked to be on Rick's list early on and if I check all the boxes with Rick, hopefully I'll have one sooner rather than later. I not only plan on using it on the beach, I will also put it to the test on dry

I wanted to say something else about the Tarsacci that probably a lot of non-users don't know. The Tarsacci isn't going to perform well on any above ground tests like Montes nail board, etc. The Tarsacci is using the ground, salt, iron, minerals, etc to excel at both depth and unmasking targets. It's hard to explain but it becomes evident once you start testing it in different scen

Aaron I'm running 18 KHz in the iron, I've tried other frequencies but right now I like 18 KHz seems to have the least falsing. As far as salt balance goes I only max out because my salt number is so high to start with. I would suggest going about 8 to 10 points above what you soil salt balances at as a starting point.

As many of you may remember I got a Tarsacci back when they were first released and had it for about 4 months. I mainly used it for relic hunting but did a little beach hunting with it as well. Never ventured into thick iron with it while I had it though.
About a month ago I picked up another one and have been testing it in the field for many hours. Also been messaging Keith, Tom, Arron and D

Running sensitivity low on the Tarsacci sounds about like what you should do with a PI (GPX specifically), especially in iron. Running the gain too high on a PI is usually counterproductive and you lose little if any depth on good targets running it lower. Get it setup right and let the machine do the work.

I can totally relate to the deaf example. Years ago I drove 45 minutes from my house to a site I had hunted many times before with my CZ 6a. When I got there I found that I had forgot my headphones....and for those who have/had a CZ know you need headphones because the 6a doesn't have a speaker. I thought to myself I can do this, I know this site well. Well after 20 minutes I gave up and dro

Tom-Yes I'm ready to go to the next level with the Equinox. Been running 100% of the time at F2-0 almost since the time it came out now. Took a little while for me to understand it's language, but now I won't run anything else.....unless I'm using the 6" coil.

Daniel-what Kieth said about disc. I used to disc those numbers out in my soil as I had the same issue. Everything you said mimics my experience with the Tarsacci. As you probably know I sold mine a while back so that's why nobody has heard much from me about the Tarsacci lately. As soon as this virus thing is over and I feel like I dare spend some money, I plan on picking a Tarsacci up agai
