Tom-Thanks for all your answers so far. It has given me a lot to go over in my mind.
I wondered myself if FTP was going to be able to mass produce a 7uS coil.
The XP Deus 81 KHz elliptical coil in carpet of nails is awesome, I've pulled some good stuff that other machine simply will not see.
In the near future I will be getting a Tarsacci again, I was really fascinated with it while

Could be that mass producing the AQ is more of a challenge than expected. I think it was said at one point the coils were hard to produce. Might be that every one they make is unique and they can't get enough consistency to mass produce yet. I'd rather they get it right than release prematurely.

Cal-cobra-I used to run Field 2 myself all the time but once Tom started talking about Park 1 I started comparing signals between the 2 modes. In almost every case Park 1 sounded better and grabbed onto the deep targets better. What I've been finding lately in my soil is that in carpet of nails Park 2 is really a good performer, seems to unmask about 10-15% better than Park 1. Been playing w

Cal_cobra-Park 1, 50 tones, GB'd, AM on, FE-0 (F2-0 is funky in my ground), recovery 4, EMI was an issue on this hunt I usually run it at 24 but could only get it up to 22 on this property. I also run my iron volume at about 10

I've kind a lost interest in the AQ for this year. My lake hunting season is about at a close, I've got a week long trip planned for Southern Cal. in January but I don't plan on buying just for that. Hopefully it will be available by Spring, all the bugs worked out and some comparison videos out.

Tom-Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, I know you are very busy and I appreciate the knowledge you share on this forum.
I worry about White's as well......I grew up detecting with multiple White's machines........they used to be great! But IMO they are way behind the times now. I quit using them the day I bought my Fisher CZ 6a back in the 90's and haven'

NASA Tom, after you made the comment about ultrasound it got me thinking about the guy I know who is perusing this method of detecting metals and other objects in the ground. I find it interesting that major manufactures of metal detectors still continue to try to squeeze more out of VLF technology (which appears tapped out) rather than look into new or different technology. Maybe I'm wrong,

I believe it's possible, we just don't know how to make it happen yet.
I can see this happening to some extent right now with the GPX. Some of the timings and other adjustments make iron react differently. I change timing quite often depending on what targets I want to find or ignore.
I believe the PI has the greatest chance of achieving this.

Bryan-I get where you're coming from, best use of time is another factor. A lot of cities and the county here have banned metal detecting in parks because too many people leave the lawn torn up. I also analyze targets a lot before I dig even though I have the luxury of digging big holes with a shovel. Time is limited and digging holes takes time.

Have you guys noticed there are two main though processes going on out there (mostly outside this forum) concerning F2 iron bias. One is how much more trash can I avoid digging and the other is what possibilities is this opening up for more and better finds. Some people are so scared of digging a little trash LOL.
Myself I'm excited for more and better finds, I've always enjoyed push

Tom-Thanks for your comments, really helps me learn. My comparison videos probably don't pertain to a lot of people and I forget that.
1-I have noticed this as well outside of what is on video. I lean towards F2 on low conductors FE on high conductors in my dirt.
2-Yea we/I have struggled with the dirt around here for years, most don't understand the extent.....even those that live

I've been using the Equinox for about 8 hours using the new F2 iron Bias. I thought I would do some video comparing FE to F2 relic hunting.

Bryan-I noticed what you're talking about at F2-4 hadn't noticed it at 0 but my soil is different I'm sure.
One observation I've made and maybe it's always been this way and not the upgrade, but never noticed it until now. It seems like I can tell when I'm going to dig shotgun brass. The tone is more hollow sounding, dug like 7 or 8 tonight and was thinking before

More testing.........
My soil is just a little weird when it comes to the update. I have a 6 inch silver dime buried in my yard, probably more like 7 with the grass. The only metal detectors I have or have had in the past that could pick it up with any degree of accuracy is the Equinox and Explorer. Some may laugh as I see others testing 10 plus inch dimes and picking them up no problem. Goes

Thanks Tom for all the info and your contributions to the Equinox!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully others outside of this forum pick up on what you've said, because they don't know what they're in for if they go straight to running F2-0 from the get go.
Must be more to the upgrade than just F2-4 being equal to FE-0 because at F2-4 I can knock out the rusty bottle caps I have at home. At FE-0

Let me first outline the conditions of the area which could easily change the outcome for others. Area I hunted last night has had activity from 1854 to the present, but most between 1854-1940. The field I choose to hunt was plowed 3 days ago and the soil is moderately meneralized which makes it difficult for anything but a PI. This will still be relevant as far as the Equinox upgrade goes and yo

I don't dig many nails with my Equinox, not anymore than I remember digging with the Explorer, cabin fever is right it has good audio to full depth and fairly accurate ID to boot. I used the Explorer II since 2001 or so and just last year let it go after I was convinced I didn't need to keep it and the Equinox. I haven't tested the upgrade yet, but plan on putting it to the test to

So I guess the big question is and maybe NASA Tom can answer this, should you still run 0 iron bias with the new feature as to not mask good targets in carpet of nails.

It will be nice if the update does resolve some of the issues with iron recognition. Although I dig very little iron with the Equinox now that I know it better. There's still the occasional nail or piece of wire that sounds good from all direction that gets dug. Working iron requires me to move much slower with the Equinox than the Deus in all but the thickest iron, but I still prefer the Eq

When I had the Tarsacci I used the Garrett z-lynk system with it. Also now use it on the Equinox, IMO the audio is much better than the Minelab bluetooth headphones. If you don't like the Garrett headphones you can use any you like.

Daniel-Thanks for the info on the CTX, I have a buddy that runs a CTX relic hinting and I'm always finding more stuff than he is. Never could figure out why, now I know. I will have to tell him about your findings.

Hard to say but after watching that video, I don't think I'll be buying one, even as a backup. If you're new to the hobby, it would be a great machine. But for other experienced users it looks like a step back to me. I get what market they are trying to capture though and I think they have a winner there for sure. It will be interesting to see if there is a backlog of orders like t

Here's a trime I found over the weekend.
Below is a video comparing Park 1 (Tom Dankowski), Field 2 (My Own) and Beach 1 (Neil Jones) relic hunting at the end I give my 3 cents about which mode works best in my soil.
