Yea the eTrac is a better relic hunter in iron than most people think, especially for mid and high conductors. Weight is the biggest reason I don't use mine more.

Here's a video of the Minelab Equinox 800, Vanquish 540 and eTrac comparing signals relic hunting. The area is challenging because there aren't very many targets left and the EMI is terrible. The Vanquish fared better than I thought it would.

Tom-Yes the 11" Equinox coil is amazing at it's ability in separating adjacent targets.....So after reading the Tarsacci thread and your comment about the Equinox coil....I understand why the Vanquish is unable to perform like the Equinox.....Even with Multi-IQ
The MDT has no issue with the 6" dime in my test garden.
The Vanquish at the Great Salt Lake ran very quiet.....unlike t

I also would like to see other coils but only if they can be changed out, not unit specific, if that makes sense. Higher volume would also be on the priority list as I had a hard time hearing signals when it was windy out.

That's why I rarely use the 6 inch coil unless I'm hunting surface trash in a desert ghost town where there's little chance items are going to be more than 3 inches deep. Big coil gets deeper and sees around the iron better with the wider RX/TX windings. Heck I wouldn't even be able to hit a 7 inch wheat penny in my soil with a 6 inch coil, even the 11 inch would struggle to I

Well my 2 cents. I've never used an F-pulse. But I currently have 2 TRX's a black Garrett, orange Garrett, Pro 35 and a XP MI-6. I like the XP pin pointer the best followed by the Pro-35

I've got 6 of Clive's books. They've got some good info in them, helped me a lot when learning to use a PI on the beaches. The Equinox books are good too, he goes way beyond the basic adjustments.

A few more thoughts on the Vanquish. Not having ground balance is another negative in my dirt. I always GB the Equinox, makes signals come in so much better when I do. Also, If the vanquish had the option of turning the iron bias off (set to 0) I could also see it performing much better in my dirt.
But I've got to admit, if you're new to metal detecting or just somebody that doesn

For the extra $160 in the pro pack you're getting headphones and an extra coil. So really for $360 it's not a bad machine for a beginner. I really didn't expect it to perform like the Equinox and if it did why would anybody buy an Equinox. The Equinox is just the bench mark for comparison purposes. It's kind of like comparing the Simplex to the Multi Kruzer which I've don

Just to clarify...... those nail tests were down the barrel coin(s) at the end. Coin between or elevated above cross ways, the Vanquish can see but so can ever other metal detector.

I though I was going to need to use the Vanquish for a good week or more to get a good feel for the detector but turns out the Vanquish is just a simple straight forward metal detector.
Ergonomics are good compared to most detectors out there, I like the layout of the menus and screen. I can tell it’s aimed at the Garrett Ace series of detectors. The 540 pro pack is a good value for the money.

Got mine yesterday. I'm going to use it a week or so before I post any kind of a review or videos. I don't want to jump to any conclusions.

Closest Minelab dealer to me is a 5 plus hour drive. I usually never pre-order machine, just wait until I can find one. I think for the most part there's a lot of people that don't have dealers in there area and from my experience most don't stock a whole lot to begin with. Almost every detector I've ever ordered from a dealer has been drop shipped from a distributor with the

I find myself using the Equinox more these days vs the Deus. I usually grab the Equinox when I get on a new site but if there's lots of iron I move to the Dues with the 9" HF coil. I can just move through the iron quicker and know what the Deus is saying (dig vs don't dig) the Equinox is good in iron but it just takes more target evaluation time IMO to make a dig vs don't dig

IMO if you have a Deus you don't need the ORX unless you want a simpler machine. The ORX is a great detector but I don't see ever owning one myself since I already have the Deus. Used a friends ORX and thought it was a good detector but I miss the adjust-ability of the Deus.

It's not that way here. I hunt with a group of 8 guys, not mainstream hunters all relic guys. Main machines used are 2 Equinoxes, 1 Whites MXT, 3 Deus, 1 CTX and 1 Explorer. 4 of us also use PI's quite often as well.
The club I belong to which most of the above guys don't, mainly use Whites detectors. I rarely see anyone swinging a Garret around here. Lots of guys using etrac an

It's too bad Daniel didn't chime in because he's used about everything under the sun in hot red dirt. I know the GPX is king but there are some VLF's that do better than others. If I recall he said he liked the F75 and T2 but they had to be used in All metal mode to get the depth. I think he leans toward the Equinox these days.

Interesting that you've eliminated the detectors that I would prefer to use in highly mineralized soil.
I've never used an F75 but of the other 2 I would say the Impact (has the most modes) or one of it's relatives the Anfibio or Multi-Kruzer. Had a T2 and an Impact, got rid of both, but they aren't bad machines. There are just better options IMO available now for the cond
