Hi Paul, Nice finds! Can you tell us what the purpose of the Coscohos is/was? Tried looking it up but not having much luck.
Thanks,
Chad

Keith, I remember your posts about the difference in the new Omega unit (including pictures of wiring) and if I remember right the official response from FTP was basically "no comment". If they have indeed developed methods of handling EMI better then I would think they would want to let everyone know. Several of their units are known for EMI issues, wouldnt it make sense for FTP to u

Hi All, After a long absence from the hobby, I got interested again earlier this year and I've got the bug bad, eat up with it. Problem is, I don't have many opportunities to get out and detect with work and family obligations at the moment. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on, read all of Tom's excellent articles, many forums, several individual websites, you

I read an interesting post somewhere on the Omega. Poster used ground grab to balance, then used the manual buttons to fine tune the balance. If I understand correctly, each shift of one number on the ground balance meter takes 10 clicks of the manual buttons, i.e. there are actually 1000 ground balance settings for the machine (as the meter goes from 1-100). Wonder how much the fine tuning im

Hey Keith, I had read where you run the Omega in 2 tone due to it being deeper than 4 tone. Sorry if this is an ignorant question, I dont know that much about multiple tone machines.....Why would 2 tone be deeper than 4 tone? Wouldn't the difference just be the way the machine audibly reports different segments of the visual display?
Thanks,
Chad

Thanks for the input DanPa! I've been going back and reading the CZ postings on another forum. Looks like you have a wealth of knowledge and time on the CZ's. I've been very intrigued by the CZ's, was hoping to hear the dual frequency would be the trump card in the dirt here (for a vlf at any rate). I have a couple of the units mentioned above on my to-try list. Searching

Thanks Tom and Keith, I appreciate your input. Two of the ones you mentioned, the Omega and 5900 di have been on my radar, I may be acquiring an Omega soon. Also, great to hear about the dirt sample Tom, hopefully Dave has more breakthroughs on the way!
Thanks for all you guys do,
Chad

How do the CZ units perform in hot ground? I know all vlf's are challenged depth and ID wise in highly mineralized areas, and there are no DD coil options for the CZ's. That being said, does the dual frequency of the CZ units help to combat this? I see Tom recommends some of the minelab units for really bad ground, but I'm not interested in the minelab units or PI machines at th

Thanks for the replies. You often hear the reasons why a person doesn't like a particular detector. I thought it might be interesting to see what improvements people would like to detectors they DO like. Good question Steve, who knows who might stop by and see what the users think and want. If anyone were looking for ideas, they couldn't find a better forum for it!

Just wondering what one thing you would love to see change about your favorite detector. For me, I'd love to see the Tejon have a second frequency choice(only able to run one at at time), say around 5 or 6 khz.
Thanks,
Chad

Here here! Although I'm a new poster here, I've spent the last 6 months going back and reading posts and enjoying the insights and thoughts of many. I'm also impressed with the respect shown here, you don't see much brand or machine bashing. Strengths and weaknesses are discussed, usually with supporting testing. My thanks to Tom and the entire community. Refreshing.

Thanks Keith,
I've been out of the hobby for quite a few years My past experiences were with Compass machines, Fisher 1266X and Shadow X2 in the Atlanta area. I decided to pick up a Tejon (after much research and considering every machine under the sun including 1266x, shadows, fisher 1270, whites 5900, garrett at pro, mxt pro) as Im not sold on vdi machines. I've seen your videos a

Hey Keith, any chance you would have time to shoot a video of the coil in action?
First post on this site, really enjoy reading your posts and learning from all the great posters here.
Thanks,
