Last year I hunted an old school yard. Found about a dozen wheaties in one area and no silver. I was very supprized not to find any silver. Usually where wheaties are, silver exists. Today I went to this same school yard and detected the other side of the yard where I found the wheaties last year.
5.5" down my DFX detected a 1949 Roosie! Finally some silver. I did dig one wheatie prior t

It's good to share with others your finds. This site can be at times...a bit tecnical.

You can try motorcycle grip glue. It's sorta like liguid rubber. Go to any motorcycle store and ask for grip glue. Scott and Honda are some name brands of this stuff. Even ebay might have it if you don't want to travell.
You can call Fisher, they might tell ypu what they use to put their CZ grips on
Hair spray would not work well, the grip is too porus.

Went accross the street today of this old site that I have been hitting. There is a house there and it is very old, and I guess it's occupied I found out today.
Took my DFX there and with in 30 seconds, first target, 4" down a large cent. Date unreadable but it's Matron Head type. Owner showed up and wanted to know what I was doing. So I put on my charm...got to detect 1/2 hour

Thanks dirt dawg for that. That's a NEW approach to me this process you describe. Sounds like the way to go in places like this. It will be interesting to see what's above the good old coins there. I have heard of "masking" and it's probably what I am geting here. I'll try diging more signals, see what targets I get? I am gonna hit it with a XLT and a DFX as well.

Great story ozzie. I think I am heading in that direction now with my coin hunting ways. You said it best if we could buy a detctor that "sees around trash and iron" it would get dull after a while.
I have been detecting on/off for 20 years. I would go out, swing the coil, here a good tone and dig, that's it. I am finding out after reading what you guys and Tom are talking abou

Hmmmmm...not very high tone a coin...OK. Repetable, 4 way tones is what I am to hear iregardless of high or low. As long as it is repeatable, not broken and get that 4 way tone(like an X). Just wanna know what I am to listen for. I have it in my head that it has to be repetable and 4 way(X)...and be good target on the ID.
Last year I did get a very low signal, repeatable, 4 way, ID $. It was a

Hard to say Tom. I don't get that signal allot. I'll keep an eye on it...
Will ZN allways be a zinc penny if it is a coin? You advise to allways dig this signal? Is it Ok to have trash ID as ZN?
Thanks agian Tom for your time to answer.
Went back to this old site agian tonight, it was raining hard. Doned my slicker and Ziplock for the CZ. Went out at bout 5PM. No good repeatab

Hi Tom,
As far as I know it is GB'd in clean soil. But next time I go out, I will make sure that is is.
I remeber I did dig a newer penny the other day that ID "ZN". Just that It seems I get more "junk" in ZN. Though, "ZN" doesn't come up ALL the time.

I hunted hard last year with the CZ. Only found two silvers and a 1865 2 cent. I really needed these recent finds to boost my confidence. As this is my second year with a CZ.
This unit is a keeper for sure!
I wanted to add this. The meter ID icon "ZN" between nickel and dollar. I will get repeateable tones and dig the targets, but never any coin. Any tips for me when I get this I

Found a small area nearby my home that looked old. Had a man made cement pond that looked pretty old. So I took out my CZ-3D. First coin 6+" down was a large cent. Can't read the back at all. The front I can see the words Liberty in the hair. I believe it to be a Matron head dating from 1816-1839. Second hit was a 1940 Mercury dime, 6" deep. Then found a 1906 Indian head penny, I t

Well, got back my #1021 CZ-3D from Tom today, it was ent 1 week ago for a tune up. I was able to acquire an super condition #1021 Los Banos, CA CZ-3D with original box and paperwork. My initial tests yielded ALL new and old nickels IDing round pull tab and a clad dime +11". Right away I e-mailed Tom that this unit needed a tune up.
Tom corrected the nickel window for me. I just ran a tes

I speak for my self here and say I got "tunnel Vision". Last month I got the bug to get back into metal detecting. At that time all I read was how high in dameand the Fisher F75 and LTDs were. I guess them being unattainable attracted me to them. And yes they are good deep seaking machins, no doubt. So when they became available I bought them, both the F75 and LTDs(which I paid high $$$

Aaron,
I my self almost bout a Texas made CZ-3D because I think these CZ-3D detectors are good, but was concerned of their accuracy and build quality from new managment at Fisher Texas. And acquiring a older model is hard. And if you are lucky to get an older one, hopefully it was taken care of.
I was able to acquire a #1021 Los Banos, CA CZ-3D recently. It was used very, very little. Air

Start calling some Fisher dealers and look at ebay. I found 2 dealers who had them, got them for less than $999.00. Two just sold on ebay for less than $850.00 NIB. Hope this helps...they out there, you gotta look.
There's a few F75s now on ebay. They are not moving, and they are not at crazy prices like before. A few weeks ago, they all would be gone. Now, I don't know, they are no

Just looking on ebay and making calls to Fisher dealers, the availability of the F75 is growing. Theres a lot more out there to be had than a few weeks ago. There were going for $1000.00 + before, now they can be had for under a $1000.00 easy.
I my self would rather have a F75 LTD, because of the boost(more depth), and the Teknetics T2 LTD is nice.

Tom,
I got a bit confused with what Chris said in regards to the SENS. I missunderstood and cranked it up! Chris did mention to me to set it at 4.8 maybe 5, and I failed to listen.
I appreciate you looking at my #1021 unit!

Went out side and GB'd the CZ, all setting the same as described in first post, except SENS. at 5
Clad dime rings in a 12" that little bit helped. I was running my CZ last year at 4.5 SENS. This year we'll go 5
Thanks agian Chris!

I got a great tip from a good friend of mine today in regards to my ser. #1121 CZ. I posted I was getting 11 +" clad dime air test with SENS. at 4.5 Chris from Ohio suggested I turn my SENS. up to 10 for the clad dime test. Well I did just that, what do ya know, 12"!!! About 3/4" inch more distance from 4.5 to 10 on SENS.
Had a little EMI on the detector, I was in my kitchen. Bu

I was able to obtain a NIB Fisher CZ 3D ser. #10210345, Los Banos California made with Lifetime Warranty. I did an air test, here's the results:
DISC 0
Sens. 4.5
Ground 5
Vol 10

Clad dime rang in about 11 +" ID $
Nickels rang in ALL "round pull tab"
These are just clad nickels I have in a jar. From 70's to present.
I switched to Salt MODE and so

Chris, I am glad you are keeping your 1021 CZ. It's a great machine, and you will be kicking yourself if you sold it. Just box it up, put it away and forget about it. Somewhere down the road you'd be glad you did.
