When I was a young lad, all of the hard working knowledgable guys used the term "educated idiot" quite a bit. Now I know exactly what they meant.

I once read a quote on a forum that said " How do you anger a conservative?-lie to him, how do you anger a liberal?-tell him the truth". After reading some of this thread, it sure seems that quote has some merit.....

Totally believable story. I have hit virgin sites a couple of years ago that produced dozens of mostly silver dimes. There werent that many copper coins. The silver:copper ratio isn't set in stone. It varies quite a bit. Now imagine, 30 years ago these sites were very common. It would have been relatively easy, given enough effort to fill some buckets with silver back then.

I have an f75, which is very close to the f70. A couple of years ago I was at an old park where two guys with e-tracs were also detecting. One was pulling silver dimes fairly easily, and after a while I scanned some of his "diggable" targets. Every one was a deep, scratchy signal on my f75, and the VDI was very bouncy. I would have dug those targets, but some people probably wouldn'

These are just my preferences, and they work for me, so I use them.
If I want to find gold, I pick a baseball/soccer/football field that has been heavily hunted/cherry picked and dig everything but small iron. The reason I do this, is I don't like digging clad....it's simply a numbers game. I would rather dig 1000 pull tabs/gum wrappers/can slaw and one gold ring than 1001 pennies/d

I use nothing but all metal mode, even in trashy areas. You just have to get the small coil for those trashy areas. The EMI is much less severe in all-metal, and it seems like the VDI is a lot more consistent. "Hunted out" sites are by far my favorite though, as all-metal goes very deep, and the good targets to trash ratio is much higher.

I understand it, but after the statement above, I'm not so sure that you do.
To sum it up, some things are finite, and as more people inhabit this eart

When will people learn that unless you can hold it, or touch it, it isn't really yours? This isn't that hard of a concept to grasp. "Owners" of cyber gold or silver will face the same fate.

I don't think that you want to know the answer to this question(especially if you cherry pick). About 4 years ago, I found a ~6 acre park that has been detected to death by many. The first time i went to detect there, there was already one guy digging stuff with an old garrett Gti 2500 that lived right across the parking lot. We chatted for a bit, and he told me that he personally has spent

It's amazing how naive some people can be. The US went through this same scenario about 30-40 years ago, and not many Americans have learned from it.
Think about this, EVERY paper currency that has existed printed by man, without being backed by something of value has ALWAYS went to ZERO value. It's called greed. You really don't have to be super intelligent to figure out where

If you want to make a quick buck, physical gold is probably not the answer. If you want to keep the value of your money, then buying physical gold is about as risk free as it gets.
Gold at $1100 oz. or less in todays world is a steal. $1300 oz. is still not too bad of a price. Beats holding worthless paper.

^^^Do you work for the Federal Reserve?
In 1968, one could buy a double eagle for $80 US. Today, one will cost you around $1700 US.
How is that for minimizing inflation?
You can't argue with the above, as it's reality. Printing money as fast as you can get the paper to do it on, NEVER minimizes inflation. Those who who don't follow history, are doomed to repeat it...

If you have to ask this question, you probably will not make it. With the number of new detectorists and inflation making clad less valuable, your chances are getting slimmer by the day...

Although it sounds easy, unless you know the general area it was lost or the signals are sparse it's going to be very difficult to find it.
I also know of two places that a double eagle was lost, and have hunted there to find them without much luck. The iron is too abundant in one place(old homestead), and the other is a swimming area with a ton of trash. It's safe to say the coins
