5 X 8 DD Sens. FULL vs. 8.5 X 11 DD Sens. FULL
40 sq. in. 93.5 sq. in.
* Considering the 8.5 X 11 DD Coil is 134% Larger than the 5 X 8 DD its actual performance IMO is very disappointing in comparison.
My measured % of Gain at FULL Sens. is as follows: 1c = +21%, 5c = +20%,

Put mine together today on my AT Pro for a 5 hr. test at the park with my 8.5 X 11 coil.
It is suppose to bungee to a clamp on the upper shaft at one spot of your choosing just below the display.
I put a mod together so that it connects at two (2) points ( 1@ lower shaft & 1@ upper shaft ) and provides
much better balance at the proper angle too.
Now I can swing all day with this thi

Kevin - I own a new AT Pro with the 5 X 8 DD coil too.
Good Coil ! Glad I bought it !
Without any further comment from me. . .
1) How deep was the dime using the 5 X 8 and
2) How much sens. was used for this test and
3) You mentioned . . . The VDI was bouncy and didn't give much useful info.
But the audio told me that amongst the square nails was a non-ferrous item.
So, of

I don't have an electronics background like alot of you folks obviously do.
1) So my donkey mind tells me that it takes power to create deep penetration . . . raw power.
So a TX running at *9V's or *12V's is going to perform better than a TX running on 6V (4 AA's).
*If everything is optimized at that power level and designed for max. depth.
I don't think I'

As far as the painful start Garrett went through but made good on all promises and . . . what we have now
as far as reasonable value and performance . . . I agree totally. My first unit (AT Pro) arrives Weds.
Future aftermarket coils for the AT Pro . . . if someone comes up with a better coil that can punch a few inches deeper
and not cause any problems with my other AT functions

Just gleaned this information from an Australian Metal Detecting and Relic Hunting web site:
It says:
"Our std sizes will be 12", 15" and 18" round. Spiderweb design, we call 'em the "Tarantula". For prospecting units, we'll be making 15x3, 18x5 & 24x8 rectangular coils, both DD and concentric."
That is message i got from the coil company

Aaron - yes I understand that connection to be a unique type connection made in a proprietary design for Garrett.
You can't even buy these from Garrett.
What I was referring to was. . . for dry land use you can go with their adapter PN: 1626000 which converts that
connection to a 1/4" normal female . . . then try your favorite wired headphones and hope they work because some

The honesty, goodwill, help and undeniable expert knowledge is here! Like no other site.
l certainly have done a lot of reading about MT'g this past 4 weeks (easily 60 hrs. worth).
At 60, I am new to the hobby. I will soon have an AT Pro with the 8x11.5 Pro DD and the 5x8 Pro DD
