You would think that an Ace 250 could find
something that big at a relatively deep depth.
That thing is a gold brick not a nugget.
Nicely Done !

Conductivity of salt water in relation/comparison to gold . . . you hear quite often the two are so close and sometimes
stretch that into exactly the same?
There is a conductivity chart in the free Garrett Book I got with my AT Pro and it looked to me that there was a noticable
difference between the two? But . . .
I'm sure the conductivity of salt water varies a great deal because

Spimly - THANKS for the reply . . . I bet I will eventually be able to look
them up on the internet. I did read some guys post that reference prices
close to what you mention here.
I'm going to ponder my options about this a bit to see what I end up with?
I don't want to create a problem for myself . . . I believe there are only 2 wires
inside that Headphone cable.

Taking a step back from being smitten with the demo video I discovered on youtube and posted above.
I thought if there was any part of it I could use with my AT Pro why not?
How about just disc.- out zinc pennies and still ID the copper pennies.
So I ran both across my AT Pro
1C - Zinc . . . . . . 75 ( Pristine )
1C - Copper . . . . 81 ( From somebodies Piggy Bank . . . not dug )
OK Notch

Very impressed with this . . . wish my AT Pro could allow for individual notch fine tuning . . . but it won't.
Failed, of course, on the first step when trying to duplicate the test demonstrated here.
If I notch out Fig. 8 pull tabs (52) I completely loose all 5C and gold. Oh well . . . still a good MD.

Well I did get an email reply that I will share with everyone . . .
Hi Jim
I had the mod done by MGM himself--a nice job. The plugs are used by Minelab a lot you might be able to just buy one from them. They are called "Ikalite" plugs. The alternative is the Bulgin Bucanner plugs but hey don't have a good rep . Mine has never leaked but needs a lot of strain relief so it

Has anyone here tackled getting free from being permanently tethered to the control box?
I have seen mods that involve cutting the headphone cable and installing a plug/unplug system
that allows you to use any headphone set you want . . . 1/4" or 1/8" plug.
What I have seen apppears to maintain waterproof integrity but no "How To" or part numbers or

Found my problem . . . loose wire/solder joint inside the coil cable at the control box connection end . . . OUCH !
I bought this CZ - 20/21 used towards the end of last year. The former owner probably tried to belt or chest mount
it with a standard short cable and pulled it loose.
I'm going to have a longer cable put on it and chest mount it. While it's there I'll have Fisher

Atlas - I know the feeling. I have a recently tuned 1266X incl. all of the rare coils . . . 5X10 (rare),
Super Coin 6 (extremely rare), 8" and the 10.5"
The SC-6 is in perfect cond. and hits every bit as good as the 8" with a lot less feedback. It's my favorite.
There's probably <10 in existence today that are in perfect cond. like this. No I could never sell i

Interesting thread guys . . . please keep it going. I have the AT Pro and the CZ-20/21 and have questions/curiousities too.
Trying to decide if I have a CZ-21 GB Switch problem and need to send it in or not?

Kevin - Nice haul man . . . reallly nice.
Jack Flynn - The machine will hit a gold ring at extended depths too, 12-14 inches and more! Way to go on using those ears.
Is thet right? That's huge! Thought people reported the range on those was pretty much avg. when they first came out?

I recently purchased (8) 9V Rechargables 400 mAH and a double charger for <$30 with free Shp'g . . . China . . . took 2 weeks.
All have been checked before and after charging and are good. Hot off the charger they were 9.85 - 10.0V.
Before charging they were 7.1 ish.

Honestly - I mistakenly gave this MD a bad rap because of the hiden problem(s) that were there and not obvious.
I had a few stock coils replaced without sending it in and it was back to the same Ho Hum level of performance.
Once I sent the whole thing in because of a major/major problem and Garrett went entirely over the whole unit . . .
it came back a monster.
The jury is still out bu

Nice finds Keith !
THAT 5X8 COIL IS AN ABSOLUTE KILLER AND DESTINED FOR LEGENDARY STATUS.
It is just unreal how you can seperate out and accurately ID with it . . . with only minimal loss of depth.
goodmore - I was probably the worst complainer about the ATPro's depth and I wasn't wrong . . .
I had just the most uncanny and repeated string of unforeseen problems that lasted 10 m

Just came in the mail yesterday and have watched it twice.
Will watch it another 2 times today.
Initial thoughts so far:
Tom - Your unique swing using that extended shaft and the aggressive way you swing
it would wear me out in no time.
Yet . . . I have never seen a swing as perfect as that. Absolutely level and close
to the ground, every time, absolutely perfect technique. My meas

CDV1 - Thanks for sharing that. I use a CZ-20/21 and tend to run my sens. pegged as high as possible.
I will experiment with your tecnique next time I go out and see if it helps. Sounds logical.
