Yea I was assuming coin hunting - but yes nonferrous and Ferrous alike can be real treasures and not be a coin.

This is where the Racer seems to shine - it seems it's audio is really good at indicating both ferrous and non ferrous targets at same time. As we have all experienced some ferrous targets lie to us about their true nature. Sound great but have iron. I also like how my MXT Pro seems to see through these lies when using prospect mode. On several occasions my MXT in relic has given me a good s

Hmmm! A coil is an attenna - magnetic fields are created based on how the coil is wound (and freq, and power, etc) If you are far enough from anything that affects the magnetic field I see no difference between parallel to plain of earth vs perpendicular to plain of the earth.
So Keith based on what you are observing I have to conclude it is the earth that is affecting the results. Based on

I would look for an older Sov from Minelab. Swing normal or hip mount. On second thought a Garrett AT Pro or Gold would be hard to beat. No worries about moister supper light. Or the new Fisher F44 also rain proof. I ride so I have thought about this as well. Durable, compact, weather resistant, and good detector overall. The last two listed would be better plus no need to carry charger. But if

In my Mech job I get notified anytime a Locomotive hits someone or something. UP has lots of crossing accidents - not caused by Engineer but people being stupid. Also a lot of Death by train. I still remember a report - train says they saw a person with their head on the track - they could not stop - takes a long time to stop a train - they hit him and saw him spin past the train. The railroa

I traded with Keith. Wanted to join the Racer crowd and Keith had an extra Racer Pro. I already had an upgraded T2 and it runs well so making the swap made sense for both of us. As you can tell Keith is liking his Tom tested F75. - it is cool he got a matched coils.

Keith - what do you mean by proper BP machine to get Depth. Are you referring to the performance inconsistency amoung FT products.? Or something else.

Am pretty sure - lets go 100% it is not a capacitor. Could be coil but very odd one if it is. Copper windings equal coil or transformer - metal plates with spacing capacitor. Two conductors separated by a dielectric material (non conductor) = capacitor. It is a puzzler for sure.

When I was young my grandfather owned a 2000 acre ranch. It seemed every day we would jump in the jeep and go somewhere and mend fences. We mended a lot fences on my visit. Ever sense I have felt fence mending is a great thing to do.

My guess is both TN and Silver are good people and share a love of the same hobby - they got sideways on their opinion of the Racer and never got back on the same side. I think they both have way more in common then they have different. I am also pretty sure TN regrets starting this post. So Silver and TN I am glad you are both on this site. I respect and appreciate the contributions you both ma

I really have no clue but if I am looking correctly it almost looks like a small box made of iron maybe rounded on back with a slide off cover made of brass maybe or copper. It it is a iron box with brass or copper cover that would slide up wonder what they would carry (flints maybe)

Focus on the posts that deal with metal detecting. Ask questions on those issues you seek more knowledge - there is someone on this site that can help with almost any question you ask. The rest of the stuff just ignore ( assuming you are just looking for an education from the Metal detecting Professors on this site). Try to ignore the drama. That is what I do and it seems to work. Most of the t

Yes I think it is Albert - he does have lots of videos and they are all well done and honest. What you see is what you get. I think this Video does make it seem complicated but what he is trying to show is getting the V3i tuned to max performance. I am pretty sure you can still get good performance out of V3i without going through all of this but if you want it to run its best here may be the way

Wow - it is a carbon copy of my T2 SE even down to the green color. Sounds where off though and it seemed more noise sensitive - I can use my Pro Pointer with no issues. I worked for a Chinese company - and the word in China at all the factories is "Cost Down" They live and breath to drive the cost of production down by any means possible. If they can reduce the amount of plastic us

Oh My Gosh what a cuttie - I like the dog treat idea - used to train dogs that will work.
Next trick is to get him trained to sniff out Silver. Lay a zinc penny a iron nail and a silver half on floor make him stay. Place a dog treat on the Silver Half. Move the pieces around. Keep repeating until he gets excited every time he sees the Silver Half. Oh forgot when you let him get the trea

Ok forgive my Shakespeare pun. So far I get a GB by pumping my Racer and my tracking is left off. When should you use tracking on the Racer. I think in most places the ground is pretty consistent - normally around 65 plus or minus 3. So how do you Racer experts use tracking?

Yea "You Don't Know what You Don't Know". That applies equally to older machines vs newer machines as well as new to you machines and machines that you have lots of experience with. Knowledge and experience are king and queen.

Will definite try out the scenarios - waiting till I finish my Cheerios and then the box my Racer some junk and some coins are going to do some testing. I have done air testing already. I can hear a clear difference between a bottle cap and a coin - same for coin and washer of same size. Coin is cleaner and crisper but that is without any other items around it. Compared to my T2 the audio is

Back to the question:
Silver Master says it would be very hard to Cherry pick with Racer because the VID spread is too small and you will dig lots trash with your Cherries.
TNS says the audio on the racer will help you tell the Cherries from the Trash in that tight VID range of good and bad targets -so ultimately the audio helps you decide what to pick and what to leave behind.
