As always a down to earth explanation and hope all understand.
Being a long time CZ user I get E-mail questions myself and not having the analytical ability or perhaps choice of words let the EXPERT answer where all would see as I frequently get asked this question so again thanks and keep up the good work promoting the hobby and improving the use of CZ's thru your excellent Video's an

First and foremost I must say I saw most of your videos and read most of your articles which I thought were superior at best and are sure a credit to the hobby but have to ask this question.
On one hand you give your air test for a CZ3D on a dime to be calibrated correctly.
On the other you say to be accurate the coin has to mix with the matrix of the soil to be accurate.
Having used eve

Sonny only know you by name and don't know your physical makeup or ability to learn an Explorer..Without a mentor explorer does have a learning period some never master and gosh its a heavy poor ergonomics expensive unit that really works especially for silver. Having gone that route stick with the CZ3D as it will serve you well...Fortunately I learned an Explorer quick and well as many of m

Nope haven't used the new E-trac but feedback coming in seems like Minelab has again improved technology. Having use the XS-1 and 2 Explorer all were too darn heavy and ergonomics poor but the did find the old silver coins. With everything in life becoming smaller-lighter one would think they would work on the weight and ergonomics as they would sell like hot cakes as Explorers I have used c

Seems like everyone is getting wrapped up in serial numbers and if not manufactured by old Fisher need a tuneup..My reasoning is could be the case but then again used a CZ3D made by the new Fisher and worked to perfection as have all my CZ models since 92. A word to the wise if you unit works well fire it up and go get em, if not Tom has offered to do so time permitting and am sure the ne Fisher

Metal detector manufactures don't want anyone but their tech's in their units and won't supply schematics or info such as this..Have no doubt of your abilities but without same imagine it would be impossible. Nasa Tom has in recent posts said he would calibrate time permitting so one might contact him as he may be able to help.

Indeed read two good articles about two CZ's causing depth loss even if a good distance away. A good rule of thumb which usually works find a unit that doesn't have a similiar frequency. Two CZ's really close will cause backtalk and even interfer with each other perhaps a football field away. I had a hunting buddy that used a XLT and MXT and basically could be wearing the same shor

Sens. at 10 just lets you hear the changes better for more accurate ground balance if you can hear lower be my guest..Remember after balancing you can lower sens. with no problem but raise it and you have to reground balance...hope I understood your post...mosts CZ6 units after ground balance you can run 6-7-8 in States but the CZ3D sens. of 4 or slightly higher is only possible while keeping a s

Yep some parts of the U.S. have the real oldies and others don't so congragulations on you silver finds.
I would advise you to use the bobbing method for ground balance and start with sens. at 10 when doing so. After ground balancing try to get your sens. even higher than 5 as long as your unit remains stable..Older CZ's seem to have different sens. parameters and in my neck of the woo

As everyone knows for various reasons have been hunting short trips locally with an occasional silver dime..Well this evening hit the front of a high school built on a turn of the century park that closed in 1970..Gosh knows its been pounded for years. Imagine my surprise when a 1897 Barber Half appeared at the bottom of a 6 inch plug.
Really worn but even in years gone by when I was active in

Have to add to my original post as in advanced mode digging the star facet may also get you indian pennies real old or fairly new a nice large 10 kt gold ring and just about any U.S. coin and may have missed one along the way but some real old areas contain some extremely old oddball coins and Tom did a good job covering them all...I might add it may help digging the star facet to only dig deeper

Do remember after you ground balance you can set the sens. and volume where you wish and it will not affect your present ground balance...Addendum so as to not confuse anyone.

If I understand correctly heres what you do to ground balance. Turn volume to 10 and sens. to 10 and the changes will be much louder for you to make an exact ground balance..Do remember under power lines areas of extreme mineralization or perhaps objects in the ground it may be impossible to ground balance so just move to another area and should balance with no problem. Also I understand if you st

If you have a F70 or F75 that is operating as it should you have a good unit..
Unfortunately this is not the case with many so send back to Fisher for a check up( seems like a lot of faulty coils) and lets hope it comes back operating as it should..

Are almost impossible to hunt and I know as being in the coal region have tried hunting some of the old coal breakers but the area is loaded with extracted coal cinders and tried many units which are defeated by the mineralization. Looking forward to some input as perhaps one of the forum members can add some good info relative hunting in these enviroments..

Set your disc. where you want it keeping in mind even at high disc. you lose liitle or no depth one of the few units I know of that has this capability...In advanced mode dig the high tones which are nickle, Star Zinc facet, and the last coins all facet. Doing this you will pick up all silver coins, 3 cent pieces, 1/2 dime, 2 cent piece, large cent and other oddball coins, tokens and lets not for

If trees are real old remember way back when were used for shade also and coins of the time were dropped..Sometimes the roots push the old coins to shallow depths and have found seated at a inch deep..Roots also have the opposite effect and if they get under the roots quite a chore to extract especially if roots are thick...Novel idea to just hunt the trees in a circle and it works as coins spill

Some units know how to add( fellow found two dimes and nickle) and registered quarter on his ID unit..Certainly most units may average two targets close together or for that matter one may mask the other out so one wonders how many good targets we have walked over. We can't dig them all especially in parks etc. but knowing your unit and its capabilities do allow an extra goodie or two to end

Try the GTI2500 in the all metal that ID's, awful noisy as it picks up all but
did dig a 13 inch Barber dime in this mode with a perfect ID..Generally Garretts are 7-8 inch units but in the all metal that ID's certainly one of the deepest around. Granted does have a lot of superfulous bells and whistles is bulky and heavy but seems to work better in certain parts of the country and the

Gosh those blokes down under must have big arms as the beast weighs 4.8 lbs..
Oh if Minelab could only produce a lightweight Explorer they couldn't sell them fast enough.

Totally agree as it pertains to newbies and oldbies alike..New mames and facets are entering the world of detecting and a much more concise manual explaining each facet and what it does along with a long Video doing the same thing.
When I mention Video sure don't want to watch a hunt going on as it like watching a guy eat a steak..Forget the hunt video's and get into the facets and exp

Have to agree with Tom rel the 4 to 5 sens on the CZ3D being max. for depth and having a stable unit..however seems like this is also true on the CZ70 as Fisher must have changed sens. parameters..In all other land CZ's and have used every model I was able to perhaps run a sens. of 6 to 8 and still have a stable unit and never found an area where I could max out the sens..
My opinion if you

Let me try and I can see many don't understand the aspects of a CZ3D.
Do remember in advanced mode its set up for old nickels which read lower on any unit so the nickel facet was adjusted for these old nickels and many not read nickel on a brand new Jefferson nickel.
Simply switch modes and in the new area mode it should read nickel.
Not understanding the theory and setup of the CZ3D se

Although I felt it was bulky, didn't like anyone talking to me(turned it off) and one wonders if they ever fixed the one button sticking, also the imaging after 6 inches is worthless on a coin but can tell a can at a foot or better it had one excellent feature. The all metal sure is noisy and Deeeeeeeeeeep and also ID's. Example dug a 13 inch measured Barber dime that ID'd it right

I thik Tom is correct saying most are too deep be it 17 inches or 17 feet however due to violent storms or wave action over the years some are found as some end up on beaches in the range of standard detectors. Point in question hunting a N.J. shore found a Spanish Realle (1781) and ran into a woman detectorists the same day who had found a similiar coin.

I have bought batteries that were bad from the get go and remember just one has to be bad to affect the performance of the unit. I think Charles Garrett hit the nail on the head when he said many units are sent in for repair and the only problem is bad batteries so always carry an extra set lest a hunting trip be ruined even if they are new..

Never used an F75 but doubt if its as good on saltwater beaches as a CZ3D...
CZ3D is a deep seeking slow unit that is user friendly and is setup to be two units in one, basically for older and newer places with the switch of a toggle.
Most dedicated detectorists own more than one top of the line unit so I guess its your call..

After we just about hunted a yard out of silver after several trips by cherrypicking decided to try for jewelry and open the CZ up..In five minutes came up with a tab signal at 3 inches that produced a gold filled(junker) ring.
Before I flipped back the plug when over it again and got a high coin signal at 6 inches which produced an 1827 large cent. One wonders how much is missed by masking as w
