I wil take my cz-3d with the 8in.coil for the type of places i hunt. Mostly places that have not seen any activity for better than a hundred years (campmeeting grounds, old fairgrounds, chautauqua sites). The fourth tone has brought me some trimes, half-dimes, shield nickels, and the older indians that would have been mid tone without it. And if i get in an area that's trashy my 5in. coil. I

I think a lot of these workers were paid in gold coins. My grandma talked about my grandpa working for the railroad in indiana in the 1920's and being paid this way.

Correct me if i am wrong here, but i thought i read once where most outhouses were to the northeast side of the house. This was because in the summer the wind usually blows from the southwest and having them to the northeast cut down on the smell.

Hey guys Another good site is on linkpendium. Just type in the word linkpendium and hit the search button and scroll down until you find Linkpendium>genealogy>usa. Hit on this site and it will bring up all 50 states, then hit the state you want and it will bring up all the counties in that state. Once you hit the county you want there will be old history books, biographies, old maps, and

LOL Hopefully these two will last me the rest of my detecting days. Right now i don't see me using anything else. The 3d fits my style of detecting, hitting pre-1900 sites. I like how

Hey Tom, Was wondering when you would get another cz-3d. I bought a 1021 tom tuned one from you in july of 2012. This gives me two cz-3d's, the 1021 i bought off of you and another one i bought in 2007 ( not a 1021) but still a good one. I really like the easy setup, depth , and the enhanced mode. Have been working an old campmeeting ground and old fairgrounds for the last 6yrs. and have

Have to agree with lipservice on the koss qz-99's. I bought a pair last year and have been more than satisfied using them with my cz-3d. I also have a pair of killer b wasp which i have had for 5 yrs. The sound is good on them also, but i have had to send them in 3 times for repairs. Mike.

Have to agree with Dan on sites where people gathered. For the last 4 yrs. i have been working 2 different spots an old fairground ( 1867- 1900) , an old Methodist campgrounds (1866- 1910 ). I will work one year and the other the next ( when their in beans ) I have pulled over 120 pre- 1900's coins from these 2 sites and i know they have been hit hard before. But you take a place like this

When i was around 10 yrs. old ( in the mid 60's ) my granddad used to get True West and Frontier Times magazine. There were alot of treasure stories in them, plus all the advertisments for metal detectors. So at 16 i received a Frontiersman by Relco ( which i still have ) and 40 yrs. later i am still at it.

Sure hope this pay to metal detect isn't something that gets started. Where i live here in illinois a lot of record whitetail deer come out of my part of the state. Up until about 15yrs. ago you could hunt about anywhere if you knew the right farmer. Now most of this ground is leased to outfitters and they charge big money for people to hunt here. so alot of these people doctors, lawyers, j
