Keith,
THIS is the reason for me ordering a Gold ..... Not for the depth , but for all the targets that I can just BET that I missed due to masking .....I already had a HUGE discovery whereby an ETrac was able to hear a Barber dime that was not

I'm lucky enough to live in an area where I can hunt parks, beaches, old home sites , etc ........ On the beaches , the targets have already been taken, or they have dropped down too deep, or they are being masked .......In the Parks , the same folks that dropped their coins , also dropped their garbage .....Yes , even back in the day we were a bunch of lazy pigs ....Even moreso back in th

The time you have spent hunting Civil War relics really shows , also the time you have spent wtih your detectors .....You have a good grasp of what tones and nuances come up on each particular item ...good job !!.....Jim

Keith ,
Thanks for the info ....It's good to hear from someone who has experience with the various Tesoro's ..... There was someone on one of the forums a while back whom I defended for his thoughts on the Cibola bettering the Vaquero ..... It was not you , but I do remember you being in the forefront of mods for the Tesoro .... Just like my issue with the AT Pro , there was a lynch

Some have said that the chip in the Cibola is slightly different than the one in the Vaquero ....and if you mod a Cibola with a GB pot that is more precise than the one on the Vaquero ( more turns ) , that i's a deeper machine .....Again , I have no proof of this , so take it with a grain of salt ....Jim

Kieth ,
That's funny that you mention the newer Tejon's running smoother ....I think the older rough running Tejon's is what brought folks back a step to purchase the Vaquero which runs much smoother ..... Does the newer Tejon run as smooth as a Vaquero now ? .....Is it possible that they detuned it to play nice ? .....or did they just refine the tune ? I've always like

Hi Dan,
There are area's in said parks that are not all that dirty anymore .....They have been scoured clean by detectorists in the past ......Sure there will be some junk to deal with , but nothing like other area's of the park that are FILTHY with trash !!.... There are also some woods in the area that are dated area's and some older foundation area's that are not all th

I think that as time goes on , we will be seeing more and more smaller eliptical coils surface ....... It seems that relic and other types of hunting are getting a lot more surgical due to these smaller coils that are deeper and more powerful hitting the streets ...... and now with machies with better masking abilities , the game is starting to change in a good way ....Jim

Thanks guys .....I'll keep you posted ...
I've bought machines all along looking for that DEPTH monster .....As time went on , I realized that the machine that had good discrimination and a good abliity to handle masking was the REAL MONSTER !!.... Now I can hit some of those parks that have been not so eager to give up the goods since they've been picked and picked , and picke

Masking - 11 years ago
I have been dropping by every now and again to see what has happened in the detecting field, and was rembering back when I stated that the next detector that I would have an interest in would be on that could deal with masking better than most detectors om the market ...... Hopefully I have killed a few birds with one stone as I have ordered a DeepTech Gold .....Being a Single Freq machine , I al

The coil on the Excal was the 10 inch Tornado .....The coil on the CZ was the stock 10 inch coil ...... The CZ used was a newer CZ-21 ......... I have compared my CZ-6a to this very CZ-21 and it's just as deep with a stock 8 inch coil
The amp on the Excal was an audio amp , and it was one of Doc's ......While some think that the circuit on the Excal and the Sovereigns are the same

I will not devulge my settings on my CZ for extreme depth ....... I would never be able to find any more CZ's if I did .....Right now they are very reasonable to buy ....I have spent FAR MORE time on Minelab machines than I have CZ's ....... If you work with a Minelab machine that has a meter to ID targets and it gives you both Ferrous and Conductive numbers , you will find that the

We ran a test on the beach down by Atlantic City NJ and the machines that were tested were
1) AT Pro
2) Hot Rodded Excal amped up
3) CZ21 bone stock
We tested dry sand and also wet salt sand .....AT Pro could not compete with either of the other machines ......Every scenario the CZ-21 beat every machine including the modded hot rodded Excal that Ole Beechnut brought with him from Mary

When I got my CZ6a, it came with a smaller coil and also the 8 inch coil .....Unless you are hunting on a beach as " Beach" said , I don't really see the need for the larger coil ..... When covering a larger area that has little trash, it works out well ....Jim

If you can't get a good repeatable signal , it sounds like falsing to me .......By " repeatable " I mean checking the target by sweeping the coil over the target area in multiple angles .....Jim

Thomas Dankowski Metal Detecting Forum
If you have your iron discriminated , you will get a null , and if you are moving at a pretty good clip , the iron signal will null , and you will get a falsing tone that will be a high tone ....... When you get these tones after the null , sweep 90 detgree's to the way you just swept and sweep slower over the same area .....If you do NOT get a repeatable tone , there's a good chance

Some wet saltwater beaches you can't even GB on .....Your 13 number is about right for a lot of the SW beaches that I frequent ....... I keep my Sens. up high even though I get some noise ..... Most of the bottecaps that you will hit in the Saltwater will give up a Fuzzy low tone ......A lot of the iron ( unless it's in the sand itself as black sand ) will disintigrate anyway because of

I'm not sure how the supply is coming along as of late , but earlier the supply was slow at best ......The Bliss took off and the company could not keep up with the demand .....If you don't have a lot of detectors out in the field , you don't get a lot of reports ....I think that things have gotten better with the supply end of things .....

I think too a lot has to do with location ......Farm fields , and beaches , and old home sites , have a lot in common such as you are probably going to dig everything that is repeatable simply because there are so many good finds from all over the detectors capabilities ..........Let's face it .....Certain sites just yeild better targets ...... This is why any machine that can do well with

I think what we are seeing ( and this is a guess ) is more and more unexplained weather conditions, and also the fact that less and less people are going on vacation, so you have less and less recent drops .. Funny you should ask .......
