One of Minelab’s newer patents published February 2016... an interesting read but it’s difficult to discern what is new from what is old. I’ve authored one patent years ago and, even then, it was sometimes difficult for one who is an expert in the field to discern the really new, patentable knowledge from what is generally known.
BTW, what ever happened to the old Geotech website? It is

Quotedoc holidayWhat gives me a chuckle about those who rail against Big Oil is they continue to line Big Oil's and my pockets with their SUV's,airplanes, etc.
Yeah... I know what you mean. Should I buy a new Citation Mustang or an Embraer Phenom 100?
Doc, just remember for every ten cents you make I earn $1. And your kids will pay for that $1.
Thanks.

Guvner, I read your posts and it’s like I’ve had one too many drinks, but then I think it’s like deja-vu from Findmall.
You really need to get a little education.

Quotelytle78All the serious work is being done in Europe and the Far East.
Correct.
For what is one of the dirtiest countries in the modern world, China is heavily investing in solar, rechargeable batteries and vehicle electrification. And, of course, their communist government is funding the investment (with US debt) to be the world leader. European companies will have the cutting-edge te

Quotediggers there will be a tipping point when electric gets a big hold on the market and gas stations see falling sales
That will only happen when Big-oil gains sufficient ownership in the new electric recharging marketplace. Watch the purchase of battery and electrification companies by the likes of BP and Exxon in the news within the next decade.

QuoteIDXMonsterNot everything is OBD2. Those “code readers” than can be bought cheaply tell you the basics and then some, but not everything. When it comes to special functions, such as certain recalibration, the OEM tools are needed.
Just like learning the nuances of new metal detectors, some of this lack of information can be mitigated through a deep dive in the internet. I’ve never found an a

QuoteHow does Multi-IQ compare to BBS/FBS? Multi-IQ uses a different group of fundamental frequencies than BBS/FBS to generate a wide-band mult i-frequency transmission signal that is more sensitive to high frequency targets and slightly less sensitive to low frequency targets. Multi-IQ uses the latest high-speed processors and advanced digital filtering techniques for a much faster recovery spe

Totally agree. The only concern comes if and when OEMs use a proprietary communication protocol to output fault conditions. When that happens then it’s an expensive dealer-only fix.

This may be turn out to be an astute Minelab marketing move. The hype of a new mid-priced detector before the holidays will necessarily depress the sale of competing mid-priced units as potential buyers wait for the Nox while ML gambles that sales of their flagship CTX is not cannibalized too badly.
How many sales will they lose, or gain, by keeping the anxiety at fever pitch by leaking out v

This accident occurred precisely because "Positive Train Control" was not used on this Amtrak train!

QuotemarcomoA world of only self-driving cars in the future is inevitable.
My last car was a 2017 BMW 530i with active cruise control and auto-steering on the highway. I drove 400 miles during the day with one finger on the bottom of the steering wheel for 99% of the time. "I" drove 200 miles highway driving in pitch black at night letting the car steer itself. It was a wonderful e

I bought a 1994 Volvo wagon and owned it for over twenty years without ever taking it anywhere for repairs. I’m only a shade tree mechanic but modern cars generally don’t need tuned up, just the replacement of sensors and common wear items like brake pads, pumps and belts. The OBD2 port outputs all the information you’ll need and with internet access troubleshooting is relatively straightforwar
