I wonder how much faster the recovery speed could be on the Vision if the processor were not tasked to draw three simultaneous color curves on that high resolution screen while storing additional data to draw other screens. There has to be a "cost" for all that extra computation.
The programmable tone would be a nice feature but I'm talking about new audio options that I'v

Without asking for radical changes to the technology, how about:
1 - ... a removable SIM card that contains the main processor. That way you buy a new 'card' as an incremental improvement for a few years until a new platform is developed. RFI issues may be an issue as clock speeds increase.
2 - Add a USB port for enabling firmware upgrades, as found today in many high end elect

Yup, I posted the 'comparison' question on the other forum and that got yanked. Since I can't post a question to the folks that probably own a Vision at the Vision forum, I'll ask if any F75 folks can compare their machines to the Vision, should they get possession of one. No bashing, just an unbiased assessment of performance.
And I don't want to get into that "

Wow, I had posted a thread earler today titled "Comparison Test Wanted!" over at Find's Vision forum and it got pulled over a civil discussion looking for comparative DATA regarding the Vision vs. the Etrac or F75 using a test bed. Looks like the moderator over there has some personal investment in the Vision and did not want any DATA posted regarding relative performance against

I hope someone that has the Elliptical has a 5" DD being shipped to them right now. I'd love to know how the coils compare on target separation on the F75 (coin and nail on board) and especially IDing bottlecaps.

Hi Tom,
I just ordered your video and hope to see it sometime next week.
Do you plan to get your hands on a Vision for a thorough going-over? I'm very interested to hear your opinion of this unit.

NASA-Tom,
I'm really hoping not to stir up the pot... but I'll ask anyway as I value your opinion above most others...
What are your thoughts of the Minelab E-trac?

Would you be able to compare the 5" DD and 6.5 Elliptical side by side? I'd love to hear how they sound on various aluminum pull tabs, bottlecaps, foil, etc...

Good Job Streak!
It would be nice to post some comparisons between the 5" DD and the 6.5" Elliptical on different targets in air, including the dreaded steel bottle cap!

The new coil will be a nice addition to the portfolio, but the small size will limit general useage. It will be tough for any 5" coil to beat the stock coil overall.

Yes, sorry, I've drifted off the original intent of the thread, dealing with iron. Now we're talking about steel bottle caps.
Plenty of decent "iron-based" targets are plated in nickel, but I thought that most all old steel bottlecaps were plated with tin or chromium. It's always been much cheaper than nickel and provides adequate corrosion protection.
The steel s

But WHY does 'round' sound off good?
I work with a metal stamping plant and will pick up some loose steel round slugs and do some more testing in my test bed.

Thanks Tom,
What is it about the shape of a steel bottle cap that is so confusing for the F-75, and some other detectors. It seems like if the machine can correctly identify a small nail, big nail, small staple, torn piece of scrap, etc., then a bottlecap should be little different.
Maybe I need short, technical understanding of what is going on beyond what is written at the end of the F-7

Thanks Tom,
One question that maybe hasn't been asked.
My ground in the upstate of SC seems to GB at between 60 and 70. How do you setup YOUR F-75 (including G when you are trying to hunt a heavily bottle cap infested site?
Again, thanks in advance!

Hi Tom,
I'm new to the world of the F-75 and just sanitized a section of my yard and planted a test bed. I was surprised to find that I could not differentiate a freshly planted bottle cap @ 4" from a silver dime @ 4" using any discrimination or sensitivity setting.
Then I read your post about GBing negative to better differentiate.
I'll try that tomorrow, but my rea
