I called Felix at Fisher today who put me thru to Daniel. I asked him the question " why does my f-75 factory pre-set at 15 discrim when it use to set at 10". He told me that 15 is the newer program and the way to see if you have the latest program is to put it in all-metal then turn it off, when you turn it back on, it will still be in all-metal mode. When I got home that's just w

My f-75 - 12 years ago
is back from Fisher, jeez, it looks like new. From the post office to Fisher and back took 14 days...what more could you ask. They even did a few things that I didn't ask them to do (warranty almost over) like new faceplate, battery compartment, grip, headphone jack and speaker. I sent it in for a new PP/fast grab switch. Looks like a shorter switch than the origional.

Salivating as I watched the video, unbelievable. I saw him on a video detecting with the boys from Garrett, also in a stream like that one. They were finding civil war relics/artifacts.

It does look like a good time. It would take some getting use to, just letting the detector float whilst retrieving the target.
I thought the same thing Aaron until the underwater footage and the bottom was baseball size rock.

The iron disc is expanded....Question; does that mean it goes into the pulltab/alum zone or does that mean it goes into the ground mineral zone, or both. Or is it split into smaller segments so as to fine tune the disc in the iron range?

I wondered the same thing, you just put a belt through the mount that's on the bottom of the control box. It has to be there, it's the other half of the rod mount.

Beach, first hunt you can see a difference, that's exciting. Any notes from Tom about your 3d that you can share?
The 3d always amazes me. I was at an old stone Mennonite schoolhouse built in the 1700's that I've hunted several times with other top brand machines... never found any old coins and couldnt figure out why.. I thought that maybe there was fill dirt placed around the

Terra, The women work at the museum and it's a historical area. The thousand foot buffer is small as compared to the miles of wrecks on the treasure coast. I'll just abide by the rules and enjoy the area as I am a visitor here.
The museum had a short movie about the area and it stated the Queen's treasure hasn't been found. A fellow named Mel Fisher discovered a carpet of go

Hi all, my wife and I, with friends, made it to Melbourne Beach Wed eve. Taped the speaker and put a shower cap over the 3d's control head and hit low tide this morning. Low tide was 10:40 am if I remember. I tried the perpendicular approach up and down the slope. It works just like Tom said. Up on the high side were pennies, little lower, quarters and along the waters edge at the bottom of

I'm guessing Cal had the E with him,,,, he used the right tool in that particular iron laden area. Cal, did you try the E in the iron? If so did you pick up any non ferrous between the nulls?

My thoughts are that the currents pass through the object and don't get distorted as they would on a thicker piece of metal, therefore changing the ID.
My answer has nothing to do with knowledge of how these things work. If my guess is close to being correct, it's from reading Keith's and Tom's posts and adding 2+2.

So if I one was to take a gold coin for example and hammer it out to a much larger diameter (making it thinner) it would report a higher ID?

I have dug many a mason jar lids, they have a porcelan milky white disc under the deteriorating metal lid. They always give a high tone on the cz and 75 and are usually deep.

Uh-Oh, you don't like to hear any of the noise, well, 75's a chatty detector. I'm guessing you know that already by wanting to set the disc to max.
You may be able to get used to the noise, some do, some don't. One way is to ease your brain into it with the factory settings and then slowly, in time, throttle up.
Settings I prefer are (old f-75) 0 disc, 90's sens, de

That's also what I noticed on the video, sweep speed. If I remember the video correctly, that one instant where the Etrac coil was slow over the coin, it picked it up.
I would say the etrac swing speed would be the same as if using a cz. Without timing it that speed is approx 2 maybe 3 second swing with the coil traveling 8-9 feet. That distance varies and depends on the weight of the mac

Question from ingnorance - Is there a cheap device that can measure or let one know if there is EMI present. A devise that tells what frequency/freq's are in the air. Jeez, there may be hundreds in the air.

I see joggers, walkers and cyclists mostly, using the parks these days, from early morning to sunset. I guess the picnic basket and blanket are a thing of the past. Yogie and Bo-Bo won't be happy =]

Glad you are aboard Steve. Like Dan-Pa said this is a great place to learn from people who are hands on in the field and also at the work bench. Good place to start the day and unwind in the evening. Many years of detecting experience on this forum, have a blast.
