I was talking to a detector dealer who said the park near his home and business was hunted out. Went there with the f-75 a few times and found two seated dimes a large cent and several indians and wheats. When I saw him again at his store, I said to him "I thought the park was hunted out" He said "I never said that". Yea, ok, I thought.

Is it worth it to get the small Fisher coil for the 3d, is it a 5 incher or a four?? Have the 10.5 and the 8. Is there a better after market small one vs. the FT one?

Some say to turn down the gb to ease up on the falsing, but when I did that over a 10" deep quarter (test garden), it went from a high tone to an iron tone, so gbing on my cz3d needs to be spot on. It does have a big tendancy to give me high tones on deeper iron (6" + ) and many are 4 way. I run it the same way you guys do, 0 discrim, 5+ sens. I also keep the volume at 5 to 6 like njny

Most people here in Pa mind there own business, as it should be. I stay away from busy parks where many people are enjoying themselves, for the most part. Never had a problem. The Rangers will ocasionally stop to see if I have a permit, or to say hello and chat a while. They never said anything about the shovel. Hope I'm not jinxing myself.

Hi all,
99.99% of my hunting is inland for old coinage. Been to the Jersey shore with other detectors a couple times, but not with the cz3d.
What's the best set up for the cz3d @ Florida beaches or any salt water beach? I have a 10" and a 8" coil. My discrim mode is deeper than all metal on this 1021. I need some pointers, thanks.

Kieth, don't forget the earth magnet. It will get all the little tiny specks of iron maskers along with the bigger pieces. As you know, lot of work digging and sanitizing a pit as not all of them produce, bring a lunch.

For me I use a modified 6" x 8" garden spade with added "D" handle. Forty inches total. I keep it sharp with a file and touch it up when needed.
I also believe it makes for a better finish and the D handle is used for tamping.
Tamping is important so as to get the roots back in contact with the earth and push out air pockets.
You can not tell I was there.

So, getting this straight. Stay out of the dunes and the water, machine and all. Best time to hunt = low tide or follow the tide out. Correct?
Thanks Bob.

Aaron, I can't hear it even when there is dirt cloging it....ear drums are worn a bit. Won't hurt to try the tape though.
That is a plus for the inlines, thru the headphones.

Golden Rule; he who has the gold makes all the rules.
So, If I'm in ankel deep low tide water metal detecting at Sebastian Inlet or Melbourne Beach (site specific) without a treasure lease, I'm breaking he law?

I also have the Garrett PP. I wash it under the faucet..had it for 2 years. The 9 volt lasts a long time. I have to keep it in its holster behind my back when using the f-75 because it interferes with the 75 when it's turned off. Once you turn the PP on, the interference goes away....don't understand why. The little speaker slots get clogged with dirt easily but you can toothpick it out

Thanks Bob. The facts of your answer, not you Bob, make my blood boil. Question; Who owns the beach/ocean and has the rights to lease (for profit) to another party?

My wife and I were invited to vacation with friends in Florida near these beaches.
Can anyone tell me the rules and regs for metal detecting these areas? I'm taking a cz3d and maybe the f-75 or the MLse. Is it true you are not allowed to md in the water? Only from the shoulder of the dunes to the high water line?
I will have to re-study Toms R&B Hunting dvd's for sure.

I have a bad felling about that. Don't see any good coming from this. I see new detectorists out by the groves and new laws and ordinances right behind...... don't like it atall.
Detector dealers may do well. Does anyone have any positives they can think of to turn my gut felling around?

As I look at the box it reads; F- 75. Fisher Labs 75 Years Special Edition Metal Detector. Maybe we should call it the "Anniversary Edition" that's what the 75 stands for, 75 yrs in biz. F-75 AE

FloridaBob, interesting article, thanks!
You can get arrested for even talking about metal detecting in Gettysburg Park...little exageration. I was talking to a guy who has a friend that gets permission to detect private property around Gettysburg. He was telling me his friend has a room full of artifacts and relics from the battle. One find was a minne ball, not so unusual, but it was surrou
