Same as Hanover...can’t log in due to “incorrect password”. Lots of good info in the archives over there, I hope they retain it for future users.

Yep. I can get my 6.59khz IDXPro to air test WAAAAAYYYH out there, but in the real world....unless it’s very sandy soil...7” on a silver dime with decent ID, 8” with “zinc-ish” ID, gone at 9. That’s running maximum sensitivity with a 9.5” concentric coil. Most ALL of the tests we see are very situational and in that damn “real world”, well....if 5khz worked extremely well everywhere for finding o

It’s awesome that someone is taking the time and effort to do this testing in an effort to see what WORKS. I’m sure someone will pick it apart and find fault somewhere but it won’t be me, I think it’s a great idea for no other reason than to open people to the truth, whatever that may be.

What I tried awhile ago(because I wanted to see if IB was closely akin to setting the FE line on FBS) was to set the 800 on my bed with the stock coil and it was stable at a Sensitivity of 18 and an IB of “0”. I started waving every kind of rusty square nail of all sizes across the coil in the direction I would normally be sweeping. I held them the long way, short way, on end...I did this for pro

Jason, you appear to be incredulous at the fact my IB is at zero with the EQX. That’s where it’s at, works great! Is it going to work “great” for everyone everywhere? I dunno, I’m not there. But it sure does here!

I didn’t update mine, I don’t use the FE for anything now, it’s at 0. All it does for me if it’s set at anything other than 0 is cause confusion as to if something is falsing or not. If you’re hunting odd shaped non-ferrous objects then maybe it’s useful, but it just confuses things for me. The EQX works great with raw “non screwed with” audio for coin hunting in my area.

Is an earring back considered “micro jewelry”? Please excuse my ignorance of the meaning and lingo, I don’t hunt jewelry as a rule...but HOW small is the normal detectorist going for? This is excluding flour gold and other ridiculously small stuff...

I wonder about stuff like that all the time. The F75 wins with the “ more robust audio”, allowing you to find it in the first place. Signal acquisition to me is job 1. Interesting thinking here Mike..

Yep...”what the market will bear”...if nobody bought one at their asking price, rest assured they would’ve lowered the price. Lots of RISK is assumed in producing the item in the first place, so with big risk big reward is expected. I have much testing in the field to do between the CTX and EQX next year once I have what I would consider sufficient experience with the EQX. I DO believe that each

Hellz YEAH they’re expensive! They’re probably gonna send you a bill just for talking about it! Even at how much money they cost, when mine croaks I’ll buy another, it simply works the best for what I do. I’m also one of the seemingly few people who uses EVERY function it has, which might contribute to my love affair with it.
It’s MEANT to be a “boutique” item...pretty, and pretty expensive. I s

Firstly, I did a search on “cinders”. No results found. How can this be? This is such a common problem for coin hunters in fairgrounds, old homes, old schools...but apparently not common enough to have a discussion about, or at least not one I can find. Here’s the deal...
I have a couple of fairgrounds which have a 3-5” layer of cinders covered by a 2” layer of black soil and grass. The cinder l

That all depends how that energy interacts with our operating freqs. Just another advantage of having switchable/selectable/adjustable/shiftable freq machines...and of course smaller coils may become more the norm if it is really something which cannot be avoided by the operator. EMI is and always has been my biggest obstacle by FAR.

That last sentence hurts to hear Dan. She likely bought a soda with them...unless you know otherwise.

Hey Del!....in 8-ish years of hunting I have exactly ONE Franklin, 10 Walkers, 3 Barbers and 2 Morgans (as far as “big silver” goes). Am I complaining? HELL NO! But I do find it interesting that Franklins are so hard to come by. An oddity for sure....

Wow! That turned out great Dan. In restrospect, chopping it off like you did accomplishes the exact same thing so as long as your inputs and outputs are all in order. It’s time to go test it out soon!
I ditched the RNB battery because of the clumsiness and weight and bought a small LIPO battery and connector off eBay. My particular one is the size of my forefinger and powers the machine for 3:4

The “glue” they use is really closer to a clear “sealer”, but after time it gets petrified. I ran into a similar deal when I shortened my 9” X-1 to 6”(some holes just couldn’t take 9....). Be careful when prying it apart as the wiring goes down into the handle for the battery and headphones. A hairdryer helps to re-soften the sealer. Just be patient and don’t think it’ll come apart in ten seconds
