update; coil and detector sent back, got the funds back from Paypal, out of $40 in return shipping cost.
lesson learned; always use the paypal option, never paypal friends / gift.

but Fisher's offer to essentially give you a warranty sounds pretty generous to me
Yes, i do not disagree there.
But remember, we're talking about a detector that's less then 2 years which is not performing the way it should. Might be a factory defect / recall, might be something else, but for sure it did not brake after I obtained the unit.. I received a detector with a brok

"I'm sure fisher will fix for you"
I'm sure they will, but have a couple of emails from them regarding this matter, plus i made a few calls, and everytime they leave it in the middle whether there's going to be a charge for correcting this problem since i am not the first owner...
I don't want to be the guy holding the bag here.
Seller might be a 'go

To follow up on this thread;
bought a NEL coil from same seller which h listed a little while after i bought h f19. The fisher f19 was still in transit, he stated it was compatible, got it today, installed it, and it completely overloads..
What do you guys think, Faulty coil, incompatible, or other? Here's a vid;

Thanks for the info Keith, most appreciated. I'm with you on the "It should be fixed for free I would imagine..",
It's one thing if a unit breaks down outside their warranty terms, but if they were sent out frm the factory with issues then why should that be on me... Fisher offers me to send it back to the factory on my dime, and will repair for free if it turns out there

Hi Des, this detector is factory stock, with the stock 10x5 camo elliptical coil.
I also sent an email out to Felix at Fisher / First Texas with the full serial number, am waiting to hear back from them to see if it was one of the problem ones and if it's been updated / recalled.

Hi guys, just got a fisher F19, and did some testing with it. Max I could get out of a nickel, zero disc, 100 on gain / sensitivity was 8.5 to 9 inches, but only barely.
My Tejon with a lobo coil airtests better. Is this what other people experienced with their units?
From what I’ve read here and seen on youtube vids people get 11.5 to 12 inch max on a nickel with the stock coil.

Buy cheaper in Bulgaria, but deal with possible import delays, fees and shipping back and forward to Bulgaria in case of dfcts, or pay a couple bucks more in the USA, have the detector in under a week and your warranty / service station is right around the corner... you decide. It's a global market these days
No dog in this fight, and no idea what the current understanding or agreement

regarding size; this is why i'm thinking about the hunter, larger without getting too big for me. have a 12x10 tesoro for my lobo supertrack, which is just right for me.

Got it thanks. So out of a technical interest in the working of these coils, minelab x terra's have different frequency coils, that behave differently;
So it seems (but please educate me if i'm wrong) that the computer in the control box sets the operating frequency (or frequencies), and that the coil ideally has to be paired with the computers frequency as dictated via the contr

so the frequency difference between a greek series and a goldbug / f19 does not matter for the Nel coil?
Asking this since the minelab x terra's can use different frequency coils but they do behave differently .
Also, since the Mars coil manufacturer does seem to make a 19 kHz specific coil;
Odd that the memory didn't work with he NEL coil Keith, thought that was all done

Since there seems to be a good amount of people on this forum who have a good understanding of he workings of a detector, i thought i'd ask here;
Trying to get info on a NEL hunter coil, or any other larger coil that would work well with the fisher f19 for less trashy park hunting... Thing is i'm not sure if the Nel hunter is the best way to go on an f19. Looked around but most deale
