Must admit the forum is getting slower and sloweeerrr in this last 6 months or so,other forums are still active so its not just things like the Pandemic or FaceBook the latter has killed off most forums in the last 5+ years or so.
Hope it picks up again but it just seems to be slowly dying.

Are the Goldscans better than the TDI range then,i own possibly what was the last TDI Pro sold here in the UK before the battery ban.Mainly use it for specific uses with a selection of Minelab GPX Mono coils as i have never liked the stock coil that came with the machine.
Will be interesting to see your reply which is the better machine out of the 2.

Most folks will have a coils size choice preference as a everyday use coil, the normal size being a 'happy medium' one that comes with most detectors is a 10-11'' coil could be round of elliptical and for the most DD in design as well, for a everyday coil these cover most detecting scenarios but possibly not the best option on every detecting situation.
For me personally what

I highly doubt that i will even consider getting a Apex,i think it will keep Garrett in the detecting game but i dont think it's a game changer.

Some terrific test using those hammered silver coins,a couple of slight additional problems that may alter the test results 'slightly' and the 1st one is that the weight of these coins can vary small amount they are not like consistent weights like milled coins and the weight could alter slight due to alot of 'coin clipping' ie traders or infact anyone could/did clip the edges

A great video and that is basically the same combination that i use as my main everyday machine, what i am slightly confused about is that he 'does not' mention what freq he was using in the video,in the comment section under the video a few folks ask Gary that question and his reply was 50khz but the HF elliptical goes as far as i can tell does not work at 50khz.The main freq on the coi

For Relic hunting on pasture sites when i need additional depth then i use my Nexus MP with the 13'' coil also the Nexus SE with the dual 9'' coil.
On high mineralised sites then the TDI Pro with the Coiltek 14x9 coil can go upto using a 20'' Mono coil,or ultimate depth for Relic hunting then my Fisher TW-5 twin box comes out too play.

Not good news of course but if you produce detectors that you 'think' folks want rather than what they 'actually' want and also rest on your Laurels from previous decades then this is what happens.I personally still own 4 Whites machines including the TDI Pro and that is the only machine i still use,the others are gathering dust and the reson is i am using much lighter detecto

The field testers, magazines and any other media reviewer/testers will 'never' ever give a bad review,it just never happens.
They will usually all say the basic safe review its a very capable machine etc etc,its not only just this new Garrett but its the same with any new machine launch.
The folks who are doing the testing are selected very carefully for that reason.

I personally have never used coil cover in all the years that i have been detecting,i have a massive box full of them and most are still new.
My NEL coils are resin filled and if i recall they even mention you dont really need to use them on the companies website.
Some folks do and some dont,i never sell any of my coils anyway hence thats why i have many dozens of them.

MD make terrific telescopic shafts, use one on my backup Deus, really quality piece of kit, also plan on using my TDI Pro coil on the same shaft with the control box chest mounted.
Mars Tiger coil looked great in the promotional video being driven over and bounced off trees etc,but its how a coil performs on a detector rather than being smashed to pieces.Alas only used the Tiger coil on my T2 fe

I have used my original T2 since they came out and its found me the most gold coinage and silver hammered coins of all my other machines.I also have a Nox 600 which is a decent machine for sure, wont part ith it but always gravitate back to using my good old faithful T2 and the Nox is often my backup machine.
Infact my Equinox could be seen as a backup machine after the T2 and Deus, the Deus alt

In 'theory' the FT 5x10 should be better as its made by the same company as the detector. But from pure observations i have never personally seen anyone use one of these coils and infact very v

Always had been a loyal Whites fan for many years and still have 4 machines albeit 3 are never used but the main one i still use is the TDI Pro which was the very last one sold brand new before the battery travel issues stopped the machine sales.
Highly unlikely that i will ever buy another one from this brand, had my DFX for 18 years its been productive but i always found that Whites made them

Always found the best coil for my T2 and in my opinion its still found me the most gold coinage of all my detectors including celtic gold staters,George 111 guineas and Sovereigns is the NEL Sharpshooter 9.5''x5.5''.Found the stock coil pretty decent as well.
For depth and ground coverage i use either the SEF 12X10,SEF 15x12 but another coil that i also use is the NEL Storm

I have a mint condition IDX Pro sitting in my man cave,i have used it a few times and its a 'reasonable' detector,i have used it on some roman sites which is normally reasonably trashy but once again its just 'average',mine does not have the Mr Bill modifications and at one stage thought about getting it done, but that was about as far as it got.I have the stock 950 coil and al

My preferred weapons of choice that i mainly shoot from the hip as i live in the UK are the Deus for trashy sites and also the Nox for pasture and deep work and of course land with high mineral content. But surprisingly enough the detector that has found me both the most gold and also our hammered silver coins has been my original green T2.

For everyday use i still use my old black Garrett propointer, never missed a beat in all the years that i have used it,also carry a Whites Bullseye as a backup, when on deep pasture and using either my Nexus or TDI Pro i use the Detectorpro Uniprobe pulse probe which has pretty amazing depth.

I guess thats why detectors with multi freq like say the Equinox is so popular,it basically covers 'almost' all the freq's that you have mentioned from just one machine either individual freq or all together.Thats the winning trump card that Minelab hold !!

I would not be surprised if Garretts have done a website revamp as sales across the boardmust have been hit pretty hard because of no recent new models or major detector upgrades.
My 'personal prediction' is that Whites must be really struggling to survive and if Garrett dont do anything soon they could also be in a dodgy situation as well due to lack of sales.

Not the deepest machine going, but have had mine since 2002 when they 1st came out and still in great shape after all these years, for 12 years it was my main everyday detector and deadly on my UK sites especially with the 10x6 and 12'' Hotshot coil, loves gold and the time i used it over 1000s and 1000s of hours of use the DFX has found me the widest selection of coins/artifacts etc than

The ORX may well be a decent machine, but as i own 2 full Deus setups, one was a main everyday machine and the 2nd one as a backup. But as my everyday machine that i shoot from the hip is a Equinox both the Deus detector are taking a rest at the moment and possibly only come out to play occasionally ongoing !!
Cannot see anyone who has a Deus buying a ORX,unless money is the key factor and limits
