Although I've had a CTX since 2013, and it's a great machine, I find myself reaching more often for the F75 DST I purchased in 2016 after the price drop.

Some seem annoyed that FTP has had several updated or tweaked versions of some of it's machines such as the F75 over the yrs.
I recall over the years companies such as Minelab doing the same. A couple examples that come to mind, the Explorer had something like five different model designations over it's lifespan of about 15 yrs. The Sovereign six or eight different model designatio

The recurring theme in the first two installments seems to be the multi freq. IQ system's ability to ID accurately at depth better than single freq. detectors.
If you have a CTX, you've enjoyed that ability for quite some time. No comparison is referenced in relation to FBS2.
Clearly, if you use a single freq. land only machine, there seems to be benefits to be derived.

Wow, that's a pretty subjective question. Opinions could be all over the map on that one.
With some of the current price reductions on proven mid/upper level units, that's where the real value, or bang for the buck is, IMO. The Patriot you mention being one of those, a rebadged F70, once selling for $700+, the F75 introduced as the Fisher flagship model at $1000+ now available at $

Hey Dan,
Not being an electrical engeneer, I'll give you my simple version.
In the 3-20 Khz range. Genarally lower frequencies are better at reacting to higher conductors such as silver, copper, aluminum etc., or larger metal objects. Higher frequencies will react better to lower conductives such as small gold jewelry, lead, etc., or smaller metal objects. The HIGH 40+Khz is normal

I tend to believe (hope) that FTP has something coming also, which is why, I am firmly in the non-committal camp on any new offerings. IF(?) Carl is collaborating on a project with Dave Johnson and fellow design engineers, it brings another quality, experienced mind to the drawing board, that's for sure.
I have the luxury of being patient. In light of all the new releases of models lat

I hear what you're saying BP.
I guess what I was referring to when I said "breakthrough technology" I meant, is it demonstrably better in any specific detecting realm? Is it simply new technology as in, it performs the task differently, with similar results, or does it give clear, unequivical, unequalled, MUCH BETTER results in any one, or more detecting parameters? Well, now that the chum has been thrown in the water, and the feeding frenzy has begun. Unveilings are intended to whip up excitement among the targeted market. From that standpoint, the Equinox is a success!
Now that the overly excitable folks have had a chance to change their shorts (and hopefully did so), and taken a deep breath. It's time to take a pragmatic look at this new machin

Difficult to answer at this point!
The Equinox has the ability to run several single frequencies which the CTX does not, BUT......
Does the Equinox have the extreme adjustability/customization in audio and di

Absolutely, Tom. Patience, before purchase, is a good rule of thumb.
Lots of folks get excited about newly released machines, and commit to one, before seeing all. Many regret the impulsive buying later.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
It's time for FTP to $**t, or get off the pot! Being "fashionably late" has it's limits, as to beneficial returns.
All the other players have shown their hands. It's time to lay em down, or fold. The expected release of your new stuff was 2016. People won't wait forever, now that the competition has put their stuff out there! You'

It most certainly "obsoletes" the 705! Changing coils w/each frequency, not convenient/very expensive!
The ability to utilize a variety of single frequencies, or simultanious frequencies is interesting and useful, but, the V3i didn't obsolete all single frequency machines with the same ability yrs ago.
The higher single frequencies 20, 40 KHz, MAY (?) give it serious nugget

Being in a comfortable place with my equipment is a good place to be right now. With no sense of urgency in "needing" a new machine, I can sit back patiently and wait out what appears to be, a good group of new machines to peruse.
I actually have more interest in what Dave Johnson and Friend's have up their sleeves for some reason. Anyway, it's nice to be able to wait til

I agree with your "user friendly" concept, in theory, Sod-buster, BUT, practicality will probably dictate otherwise.
Some of the machines have a few "hot Key" type controls already. On my CTX the Pattern 1 and 2 feature I use extensively, to switch between two different preset levels of discrimination with one button, on the fly. The V3i has the live "Dashboard"

Personally, I DON'T THINK significant advancements in VLF Induction Balance machines are the future of detecting. In the last 20+ yrs, most advancements in that domain have come in the form of microprocessors, audio, and discrimination adjustability, frequencies used, not depth. The Deus, and CTX, have given marginal new abilities with their new electronics located within their coils. Thi

Thank you very much for your response Tom! You pretty much reinforced my thoughts on the concentric coil.
At some point, I think it would provide a slightly new dimension to detecting with my F75, but nothing I considered a pressing need. The 11"DD and Snake coil are doing very well for me in my first year with it.
I'd already read your Compilations #1 and 2, good information.

Greetings,
I added the F75 to my array of detectors about a yr ago. I have become quite fond of it, and find myself using it more than my CTX.
I got a NEL Snake coil for it soon after buying the F75, very happy with it also.
I have been mulling over the idea of adding the 10" elliptical concentric. For those of you with current/past experience with that coil on your F75's,

Thank you all for the welcome greetings!
Rod-PA, to answer your question, no I didn't find the ring. My daughter spent time in a park/playground area located near her best friend's house. She "thought" it could have been lost there, but they also were in other locations, so realistically it was a shot in the dark.
It provided me the reason to get back into detecting, s

Hi,
Just a little intro. I got started in detecting as a kid with my father, using the old BFO's, around 1970-ish.
Fast forward to about 8 yrs ago, when I got a detector to look for an expensive lost ring, bought for my oldest daughter for her 16th birthday. Been detecting ever since.
Look forward to the occasional chat about the hobby, and equipment.
