LowBoy, M2 is the higher kHz weighting for Park & Field on the Legend. M1 is lower weighted, M3 is even lower with the addition of conductive ground subtraction. The Beach multis are also lower weighted, MW being the lower of the two. Goldfield Multi is the highest weighted on the whole detector.
What type of soil mineralization do you have on your sites?

On the Legend, iron relics will come in a good bit above nails. Nails 3,4,5 iron worth digging 18 to high 20s. You can run A or G Disc with the 1st tone bin(iron) where you can comfortably hear it. Set your 1st Tone break around 7 or 8. Use the Iron Filter/Stability if the small iron wants to false more than you want. Even at 8IF the big iron relics will sound. You will know it is iron from the

What Daniel said.
If you don't have a Mineral meter NASA Tom's advise is very practical.
The more I know about site conditions, the better I can set up the machine & myself to perform best.

TNSS, Thank you for the detailed explanation of the video. That is a good rational. My problem is that you are so mysterious instead of being straight forward. You ask riddles instead of making observations. You have knowledge & some good insights, so do many others here. Isn't it best for all to be as clear as possible?

I was running 10 kHz on my Legend under big transmission lines a few hunts ago. Very stable at 28/30 sensitivity. All the multis were terrible. It is nice to have options.

Good to know. So Prospecting audio is a special/different type of audio but not really a different search mode? Is the Manticore the only SMF detector to utilize an approximate or true All Metal mode? What about Pin point on say the Legend or Vanquish Or Equinox? On the Manticore?

Do any of the simultaneous multi frequency detectors have a true All Metal Motion mode? Is the Pin Point mode true All Metal Non Motion? Does it actually use the SMF wave form?

A very good video of a well thought out comparison. It was interesting to see the similarities as well as the differences.
Thanks for posting it.

The MDT does excel at ferrous v non ferrous, even iron that will false once you understand it's characteristics & audio traits but it is a pretty steep learning curve. I think the difficulty comes from it being set with a very low Iron Bias so as not to miss any small/difficult conductive target in harsh conditions. I think it would be more user friendly AND have improved TID accuracy i

A member of the DP forum posted that they had spoken very recently with Dimitar about improvements for the MDT detector. They relayed that he said he was steadily working on the next generation with improvements including user recommendations about audio. Dimitar is paying attention to user comments.
I am encouraged by this. I don't use the Tarsacci as a primary detector on "normal&qu

The new Update is available on Nokta's website.
It has some interesting new features & improvements that should add to the versatility & performance.

I am looking forward to the upcoming Update for The Legend. I hope NASA Tom will re evaluate his unit and post his detailed impressions. I also wish he would build that High Mineral test bed to enable a fuller evaluation of each machine he tests. The differences between the various top end machines keep getting more subtle and we need his knowledge/experience to guide us with practical insight.

I have finished my first reading of both of the new Legend books. They are both good & enough different to be both worthwhile. I'm sure subsequent readings will add to their value.

I have been working on getting in the habit of occasionally re-Noise Cancelling when setting the detector down to dig a target. This is after retrieval & handheld pin pointer is off. Coil stays stationary. NASA Tom has me a little paranoid of silent EMI. This is with The Legend.

The Manticore should share to a large extent the Tarsacci's superb ability to find deep targets in wet conductive ground Inland, not just Saltwater beaches.

I have found, so far, in testing the Legend on my high mineral test bed that the Recovery/Reactivity setting is critical & a very small window that will hit 6"-8" coin targets. 6 is iffy, 7 is best & 8 is iffy. Any other Recovery setting is Nada unless very shallow or large sized. Frequency selection also seems equally critical on the Legend. I will have to check my notes but

I agree that soil/minerals conditions are of primary importance to know.how best to set up a machine to perform best. That is why experimenting in your soil is important. I have two types of soil/mineral conditions on my sites, mild & pretty hot. That is why I have two separate test beds in my backyard, one native mild sandy loam & one I built (2'X12') of local hot red iron ore

I'm sure Rick was making his observation based on first tone break at 10 vs 1. The Factory Tone Break of 10 is not the best for separation/un masking. Drop it back to 8,7 or 6 and The Legend performs noticeably better. I don't think going all the way down to 1 gives any extra benefit that I could see. This is for working in nails/small iron trash. synthnut's observation of this b
