Did that to to my 1236x2 too. I used silicon all over it and wrapped it with black tape. Now coming all apart at the connector. Guess it's just getting old and need a new coil for it.

I agree completely with you skinner. Set your disc to take out nails or where ever you want to set it and start digging.

I had a Treasure baron with all the modules and coils. What a great design. Had the White's 5900, Sovereign and CZ5. The Sovereign with the 8" coil got me Indian heads at 11". I found more old coins with the Sovereign than any other detector I've had. Well I had it a long time .
I had them and wonder now why I don't have them.

Thank you everybody.
I had an Omega traded from Keith S. but wasn't that impressed with it but I didn't try any other coils. I know Keith also said it became deep with the Ultimate. Maybe.
A lot of iron. Mild ground. Most of my hunting is for old coins/relics and some gold ring hunting at the beach. I do have a fort from the 1700's I hunt the general area sometimes. I have u

Tejon is my main detector but now I'm using my White's SurfMaster II vlf more. It hits as deep as my Tejon. Hitting nice on my 9" dime. The audio is very smooth sounding on good targets. The Tejon separates better. I don't know if I can find anything better than these 2. Very light weight. The White's can be hip mounted. Is there anything worth while to add? Needs to be

I own a sign company and am the only one in it at my house. I do hand carving, sandblasting, 23K gold leaf and paint signs. I have an electronic engineering 4 year degree.

White vinegar takes all the rust off of iron in few days. Still has that old look to it. When you clean and dry the iron a light rust will form on it that you wire brush off. Put the iron in the sun and then put wax on it. I have horse shoes and other things that came out beautiful. Some the rust is bulging out all over and when clean looks great. Give it try on something. I like a lot better tha

I didn't have any luck at a speakeasy by me. I only got 1 merc. Went to hunt an old drive in that was shut down for a long time. When I got there it was covered with 3' of dirt from highway work. I wish I had gone earlier

I wonder about the depth too. I like the new light weight design and am waiting to hear from those who have tried it. Might be nice for an extra detector for some things. I hope it's better than I think it is. Haven't heard any real tests yet. I see it is posted for sale now.
I think it will be a success and hopefully the future high end detector will be light like this.

I haven't found one yet. Only found 1 barber quarter, a hand full of barber dimes, About 40 Indian Heads and Buffalo Nickels. That's the way it is living in northern Michigan.

I ordered a coil from TC Detectors and haven't heard a thing. I called. Nobody there and left a message. Still haven't heard anything.

I enjoyed your story too. In 1972 when I was in the eleventh grade when i saw a metal detector I had to have one. Dreams of treasure going thru my mind. I saved up money and bought a Compass 77b (Professional). Oh I was so hooked. Finding treasures and digging for bottles. I'm still hooked and doing the same thing .
Happy Hunting,

There should be clothes that are tick proof. Where ticks just fall of and can hang on. We have sent lock for hunting but nothing for ticks except spray. Fortunately I live in northern MINNESOTA a and ticks aren't bad.

I've decided on getting a Racer to go with my Tejon. I don't know. The the Racer will probably be my main detector over the Tejon. I'll see how the 2 fit in.
They both have great separation. I just ordered the 5x10 wide scan for my Tejon. I think it will come down to which is deeper and I'm guessing the Racer will be deeper.

I know electrolysis works and I like soaking iron in white vinegar for a week maybe 2. All the rust comes off and the piece looks great. When it dries a light rust forms and you have to wire brush it of. Get the piece warm and put wax on to protect from rust. Crazy thick rusty horse shoes and all the rust comes of and the finish looks natural.

I have a 1236x2. It is a nice detector. Can be hipmounted. You can take it in the water in a small backpack. It hits my test dime at 7 1/2" and quarter at 8".
It doesn't have the separation that Tesoro has.
My main detector is a Tejon.
So overall I would recommend the Vaquaro or Tejon. With these you can gb in disc and get great depth.
