Concerning the rod,I would prefer and I use myself a classical one fully made from plastic and having been tested for years.Personally I do not like the s-type and the straight one as well.
Then,i do not remember if I adviced or not,but it would be interesting for me,for example,if you try to use DP mode for searching separate coins.I have tried it with my MFD this yesr and found it very effective and interesting.I would like to know what your experience will be on your soils.It is very easy to set in the additional Signum menu only two parameters-filters T and A and setting them as 1 and 4.This will allow the detector to find small targets and to my mind,it will give them more depth to be detected.For example,I set ST at 12 or 13 and Sensitivity at 6 or 7.My Signum was rather calm and stable.Try to do it on air and you are supposed to receive the results I shared above.Then,try it on your places especcially where you have already walked with any of detectors you had.
