Looks like Tesoro is coming out with a new detector
November 06, 2013 12:56PM
Tesoro is asking to help name it. Supposedly this model is from input on what the customers want to see in a new Tesoro. Hopefully not repackaged old technology.

Haven't had a decent ID unit since the Toltec 100 that was heavy so lets hope its something along that line. Judging by previous new units probably repackaged old technology with better depth so lets wait and see. Of course nothing against old technology as use a GS 11 and certainly one of the better gold ring units around although certainly an oldie but goodie...

Hi, thanks for bringing this to my attention Hungarian....I kinda gave them a name to consider since I did not care for theirs...It's hard to pick a name without knowing anything about the new machine...I'm still trying to spell Tesoro Conquistador correctly.... LoL....JJ

Probably the new version of the Golden Umax. My understanding they still have not been able to upgrade the old tone version yet. Anyone know if that has changed?

Don't hold your breath ..It will probably still be a while for anything Great..they might do some rehash stuff but to really build something will take awhile..'

I put in my order about a month ago in the thread...

Tesoro's main problem is going to be in my opninion is trying to get a ground balance that does not alter the I.D. circuit...

Say if you want a variable tone break it will move as the Ground bal is moved...

That's why their target I.D. machine's ground bal in disc mode seperately from all metal mode like on the Cortes...it keeps from skewing the I.D's...

Its a simple form of I.D. not sophisticated like say a some other's...

It would be great if they have hired a design team and top notch engineer to produce a detector with new features and capabilities. Yes, they make a good product, but they desperately need to move foward in their technology. If all they are going to do is take a unit and move some knobs and switches around and add a tone or two and call it new, well, they might as well name it the Tesoro "REFRITO". Who knows, they have built some great detectors in the past, wait and see.

I hate to say it but I think Tesoro is not really in the running anymore when it comes to new detectors. It takes more money than they seem willing to invest to enter the 21st century. Can anyone really imagine them coming out with, for instance, a DEUS type product? Or a CTX 3030? Or a V3i? Just a few examples but you get my drift.

The one thing we know for sure is that we do NOT know how long they have been working on this new detector. They could have it all put together and have all the bugs out of it just waiting to the new year to put it on the market. Looking into my crystal ball I see them coming out with an amazing detector that is going to shock many people, to the folks that say they can't I say they can and they will.

I hope your right Ski...

But you usually dont ask people what they want after you have designed and built a detector...

I would like to see a tejon with one of the disc covering just iron with variable adjustable 2 tone break on that disc ...iron volume....new designed DD coils....better battery compartment and drain...Selective filter's ...

Wait a minute thats the GMP! LOL!!

But seriously I hope you Know more than we do...

Tejons are great machines and I believe other manufacturers Know it ;-)

I like Solace,
Its nice and peaceful non threatning and may portray a better image to people in the parks then say Raptor. Also a break from their use of animals and insects.

You don't have to, there is more than enough of us that do to make up for people that don't.

Well now Steve---I think many of us would have more confidence in Tesoro if they would simply (and finally) come out with the re-release of the Golden.----Is that too difficult of a thing to ask of them??------Some say---oh when they do start production again, it will be done right---well, I'm sure that's right---but---we've been hearing that and waiting "forever" & it's getting to be "old hat".------Maybe they better just concentrate on this (apparent) new detector & forget the Golden---as in, take it out of production permanently.----They can't seem to get it going again anyway.

users around the world are doing somersaults like the gospel singers in the Blues bros movie at this news

the east eurpoean brands are making great strides so why not tesoro? (see the AKA models )
they used to be top dog in the UK but since then theyve taken a big drop as the newer brands have stolen the show

The Golden MicroMax is discontinued. Thats that.

I very recently called about having my old tone Golden updated to the new tones. That was a waste of time. I had to listen to the guy tell me how bad the Golden was, how terrible the upgrade is, and listen to a sales pitch to buy a Deleon. The Golden MicroMax is history.

But they might be releasing something new with tones, although for the life of them they don't understand why anybody wants tone id.

They seem impressed by the Eurotek Pro though smiling smiley

Del, It is gone.

The new unit may or may not have tone id  but the Golden is gone. The days of user adjustable tone id in affortable packages is going away it appears.

It could be very well possible that they are dropping the Golden uMax but unless I hear it from Vince,Rusty or the tech. I don't know for sure. I think the world of Tesoro but in all honesty it does not matter to me one way or the other about the Golden, I don't care for a multi-tone detector other than a tone for ferrous and another tone for non-ferrous which I don't really consider a multi-tone it is a two tone. I liked the Eurotek Pro which is a two tone.

Hi Mike.

I think I know who you may have spoken to at Tesoro because I got the same spiel. He also sells Tesoros so he may have been looking to make a sale.

But I have spoken to Tesoro a few times in recent months and they have said it is coming back.

You may remember a couple of years ago the Sand Shark had to go out of production because a part became unavailable.

Rather than find "anyone" to reproduce it, they waited until they could find someone who would do it to their specifications.

Bad news for us: the Sand Shark was out of production for nearly a year.

Good news for us: when it came back, it was not inferior to the earlier models (except maybe that the coils had to be hardwired to the unit, the one manufacturing concession they had to make).

The Golden is coming back next year, and while I hate the wait, I would rather wait and have them do it right.

Just my feeling.

I hope you are still enjoying you F5. You have done extremely well it.
