F75 hard to get?
January 15, 2010 05:50PM
Hi,
It's winter time here in NE. Not much to do out side. I'm getting the coin hunting bug agian, I get it every year at this time, strangesmiling smiley

I have a CZ3D ser#1121XXXX Los Banos, Cal. Works good, found 2 silver coins last year. Was thinking of getting another Fisher and though tof the F75. Well, they don't make them anymore. I can find them on the net, but seem to be big $$$!

Is there any special reason for this? Some F75s go for $2K,seems crazy. I know I have a good detector, just wanted to know if it's worth getting a F75.

Did some research and found why the F75 are difficult to get. There's gold in them there hills! I guess it's the only detector that finds gold, not really. So everyone is buying them. There being shipped over seas now. Very little F75s are being shipped to US distibutors.

If you are strictly a coin hunter....... the F75 would be of some advantage. If you are a relic hunter (or partial relic hunter).....the F75 is a major attribute.

Thanks Tom for that clarification. I'll stick with my trump card, CZ3D winking smiley

What would you recomend for a back up detector, strictly coin hunting?

A word of advice, dont buy a new! Look for another 1021 series. I am very disapponted with mine.

"Backup" for your 3-D

If it were me, I'd go with an Omega with the 11" DD coil. DD's aren't an option with the 3-D and I think you might find the ease of control (with the O8) and the DD options to be advantageous at times.

How about a Garrett, maybe a ACE 250 or a 550? Anyone here have experience with Garrett's detectors. My CZ3D is a 1121 series and seems to be good. Off the top of my head I think I get better than 11" with a clad dime. Will be doing the air tests soon.

The ACE250 is a great backup detector and can be had with little effort for between $150 and $175 used. I can get a silver dime to 6" with mine.

I haven't heard much good about the Garrett line except for the 250 and, of course, their stellar pin-pointer.

ACE 250 $212.00 NEW, whhich is'nt bad as a back up. They have a 9"x12" and a 4" coil for it. I have seen the ACE mentioned here before.

Yes, the F75 is getting hard to get. And prices are going up quickly.

The Africans are apparently now discovering that the F75 works for gold like a T2 does. For anyone who hasn't been paying attention, used T2s are going for well over $2,000 at auction!

The 1st gen F75s and LTDs are drying up - and when they are available it's at premium prices.

stick with the CZ 3 it is way slower then the F75 for relics but it is great at parks and schools

Just looking on ebay and making calls to Fisher dealers, the availability of the F75 is growing. Theres a lot more out there to be had than a few weeks ago. There were going for $1000.00 + before, now they can be had for under a $1000.00 easy.

I my self would rather have a F75 LTD, because of the boost(more depth), and the Teknetics T2 LTD is nice.

Start calling some Fisher dealers and look at ebay. I found 2 dealers who had them, got them for less than $999.00. Two just sold on ebay for less than $850.00 NIB. Hope this helps...they out there, you gotta look.

There's a few F75s now on ebay. They are not moving, and they are not at crazy prices like before. A few weeks ago, they all would be gone. Now, I don't know, they are no selling as quickly. I remember that they were going for rediculous prices and people were buying them up. I called a few Fisher dealers last week to see if they had any, they told me good luck getting one. Now you have to order one, and maybe in the spring they would be in. Dealers have them, justhave to at the right time when you call.

Maybe the gold rush has dried up? Maybe people want the LTD more than the F75? Maybe the smoke has settled, less interests in them? This is just an abservation I have. When I first posted this, 2 weeks ago or so, NO one had any, on ebay they were selling out at very high prices. Now they can be obtained, and not a crazy price. The LTDs are very hard to get now and if you find them, big $$$ same for the T2 LTD big $$$.
