Oh my god, I just ordered an LTD

Camo version with the two coils. $1199, which is retail I believe. The new ones will be $1249 if I'm not mistaken.

This is right after I ordered two new coils for my Explorer SE. I can return the SEF coils to Kellyco for a full refund, so I have a limited window of time to try out the F75 before I decide I like it or not. I *really* hope I do because I will be very disappointed if I get no depth with this thing.

I'm trusting your advice!

keep us updated as I have an e-trac and f75 ltd. have not used it yet due to the snow.. The -trac is going to be a tough one to beat in my opinion...found a lot of silver last year with it in places that have been hunted hard. Be sure and posts your results!!! good luck
Are you sure it's not back ordered.

Are you sure it's not back ordered. Kellyco is bad for this. They took my son-in-laws credit info, but the machine (E-Trac) was on back order. He found this out a few days later.

Hmm, with a limited amount of time to try it out? I'm wondering if your going to to be able to give it a fair evaluation? Especially being used to your M-lab..Making a transition from one detector/brand to another can be very frustrating to say the least!, for me anyhow. Learning new numbers, settings, speeds, sounds etc....I think from doing alot of reading on the F series detectors, that alot of people bought them and didnt give them time to understand how they run and didnt set them properly, tried to run them at max-settings and experienced alot of "noise" etc. and couldnt detect with the unit..Therefore, giving them a bad review and selling their unit. If they/some would have taken the time to use/learn the machine and figure it out somewhat? Their experience would have been alot more rewarding..Its too easy to get frustrated and go back to "old-reliable" for some. Its a new challenge with alot of reward potential for others...Good-Luck and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

I agree 100%
A very satisfied F75 user.

I plan on making a test garden and seeing how well the F75 LTD in boost mode picks up on targets against the Explorer SE. If the LTD really gets the depth it is becoming known for, it should have no trouble picking up a mercury dime at 8". If it doesn't, then it really isn't of value to me.

If I get the standard 4-6" VLF detection range on the LTD, then I'll sell it. I'm really hoping it can hold its own against the heavier, slower Minelab.
Re: Oh my god, I just ordered an LTD....... Keep us updated on your findings.!

Confessions of a detector addict -

I am looking forward to the updates as your little experiment rolls forward. Keep us updated.

Didn't you hear that Minelab is coming out with a new E-trac in May with a processor that is nearly 3x as fast as their current processor to compete with the F75 Ltd?

I didn't either. smiling smiley Made your heart jump though. It's hard to wait for the future when the problem stands in front of you now.

Good luck -

Just one more good target before I go.

Yeah, you got my hopes up there for sure. A fast Explorer/E-trac would be the envy of everything out there, I think. They simply don't exist though sad smiley

I'm definitely keeping an open mind with the F75 LTD. I'll report my findings. Hopefully they'll be of some benefit to people.

If you have severe mineralization.......the F75 LTD will fall flat on its face. If you have moderate mineralization (vague term)......you will be happy.

I've upgraded my home computer with a processor that is x4 faster than what I previously had. My Microsoft Outlook email still loads as slow as ever with no measureable improvement.

I wonder if users will actually see an improvement in recovery speed using the new Etrac?

I've proven to myself, in my dirt, that my LTD is deeper on deep silver compared to my Explorer-II fitted with the new Pro coil. 8" will be no problem for for LTD testing against a buried silver dime.

Be sure you water your fresh test bed for the first month regularly to help the ground settle. You'll see poorer performance from any detector during this time trying to see this freshly buried dime.

Just for grins while you are waiting for the LTD to arrive get a hold of a used Coinstrike to try out. Just because it did not work for someone else in Ca doesn't mean it won't work for you. Regarding the EMI issues what I found is its just like all other detectors. It works well where some won't and can have problems where others do OK.

Minelabs are known for their high performance in the toughest of ground conditions. That would explain your comment about the F75. Where have you actually tested the F75 that severe mineralization is a problem?

Mark,

East of Atlanta......by approx 60 miles. CZ would bell-tone overload with coil nearly a foot above the ground. F75 would overload at 2" above the ground.........and the Explorer would detect a dime at just under 1" (one inch). I moved around within a 35-yard radius......with same results. ((( I thought I was on top of a barely-buried tin roof ))).

Hmmm, I'm East of Atlanta by 160 miles and I've never seen soil that bad. I wonder if your ground was natural mineralization or in some way contaminated with metal.

That's because the bottleneck is not the microprocessor, but the hard drive setup. Trust me, I built a home PC with a SATA RAID0 array (writes half the data to one drive and the other half to the other drive at the same time), therefore approximately doubling my hard drive read/write speed. Things load ULTRA fast now :-)

Georgia ground was natural. No contamination. I sent Dave Johnson a 40-lbs sample of some of this type of dirt from an area that was a slight notch less mineralized; yet, still severe.

F75 is the only great backup to the LTD less you get another LTD

Did you ever get any feedback?

Yes, Dave was a bit surprised with this mineralization 'volume'.......and has it on the R&D bench.

Tom, just how did you come about finding this patch of "dirt from hell" ?
Does this stuff stick to your refrigerator too ?

On that coils return one bets you will take a beating moneywise...
Tough to compare apples and oranges so good luck....

This 'severe' mineralization dirt is fairly common in GA, KY, VA, AL and some other areas; however, it's 'spotty'. You will know when you hit it, though.
