Tom here is some data. Something wierd-seems like right after making settings ie recovery, GB, etc. First few sweeps over the first target Manticore does great, but multiple sweeps degrade the target quickly. Performance overall levels off at a worse level than when first turned on and I start detecting.
Ultra low sweep speed improves response.
Turning horseshoe on improves response. Red un

Thanks Tom I've been working with an engineer at Minelab over the last few weeks but I think you being behind a fix will speed things along.
I'll do some more testing today with ferrous limits and swing speed and let you know the results.

Tom-I left those targets buried, so can go back and try different sweep speeds if you would like and capture it on video. The Tarsacci would have no problem hitting these targets. In fact the Manticore with the old software version does night and day difference on those same targets. I'm working on that video and will get a link to you for the video tomorrow.

Tom will watch this video of the issue I'm having in high mineral dirt with the Manticore update. In most modes you'll notice the ID for the target is correct, but the audio, red underlined number and trace all say iron. BTW Minelab sent me a new machine, so I think we can rule that out.
Thanks Andrew

Not sure where you are but out here in the West we can tell what rifle fired a bullet by the number of riflings on the bullet. We had a lot of pre-civil war camps here that we find many bullets in. US rifle model 1841 came in both .54 and .58 caliber. And many were converted to new model 1855 by changing out the barrel. If the bullet has 7 riflings it was fired from a model 1841. If it has 3 it w

Tom,
I could be wrong but I think a lot of people are assuming long press noise cancel automatically means more depth. But there are other factors that also determine depth. Ground mineralization and salt are just a few. Just because you can do a long press noise cancel and can get your sensitivity up to 30, doesn't mean you will be able to run the Manticore at those sensitivity levels onc

Tom,
No sorry typo it was a nickel not a dime. I had dime in my head because I pulled one from a heavy iron infested sites prior to posting about the nickel test.

Went back out and retested the Manticore over the 16" nickel. Wasn't worth filming as results were about the same as the first video. The settings I used for the Manticore in the first video were about as good as it gets. Did long press noise cancel, GB, tried multiple audio themes, lowered ferrous limits, etc. Highest sensitivity achieved was 23 in prospecting audio, beach deep. r

Very good information in response to CTGoldman's question. Right now I have frozen ground so turf hunting has been tough. But I also have 4-5 bar dirt in my immediate area, not sure if the Manticore will do any better than the Equinox in this situation. That being said I have access to a mid 1850's military camp (still frozen) with only 2 bar dirt. I'm hoping the Manticore wil

I going to shoot another video with the Manticore?D2 using your suggestion of prospecting audio and see if I can get that 16" nickel to sound better. I will also try pitch on the D2, otherwise people will be calling foul.

I personally have been using medium lately. although I was using rich when I first got it. Medium just sounds better to my ears as I'm also getting older.

TNSS very weird your machine resets in all terrain high conductor audio profile simple. Mine came from the factory in rich profile and when I do a factory reset it resets to rich.

Stock audio profile in All terrain high conductor is rich and is much quieter than the other modes. Go to audio theme, then push on the pencil looking thing on the right and you can change the audio profile to medium or simple. Here's a video I did on the question.

Tom,
Haven't posted for awhile but have been reading all the information about the Manticore. Did a depth comparison at the beach (Great Salt Lake) about a week ago and posted it on Youtube this morning. Wanted you to take a look at it and see what you though. Obviously I'm already getting a bunch of comments about how the Manticore is setup wrong, even with my disclaimer about it bein

EMI has been one of my biggest complaints about the D2. In an urban setting it really suffers. In a rural setting not so much. However I'm finding the Equinox and D2 don't play well together. Just this weekend I was hunting a farm with a buddy, he was using the Equinox I was using the D2. If he got within 15 feet of me EMI would cause me to lose target audio and ID at even shallow depth

I've been digging some deep bolts and big iron chunks with mine. But nothing like you're describing. They are basically iffy signals in my high mineral dirt, not flat out sounding good. Sounds like something is up with your unit.

I think with an Equinox and a Deus 2 you'd be set up for most sites. If I could only have one I think I prefer the Equinox over the Deus 2 for the sites I hunt.

this is from their site.
With the large search coil as well as the frame coil, small objects such as bottle caps, pull tabs and small pieces of aluminum foil can be ignored. But beware: Even single coins cannot be displayed when using the large search coils!
So what would be the point unless you are looking for a treasure chest.

I'm sure that will happen here also. I've heard each dealer in the USA can only expect to get 3 or 4 units and most will be with an 11" coil.

I beach hunted almost exclusively from about 1991 to 2016. Then my focus became Military relics. In that time period I hunted many beaches and I did may depth comparisons between the following metal detectors; Fisher CZ 6a, Minelab Sovereign, Minelab Explorer, Minelab eTrac, Tarsacci MDT, Garrett Infinium, Whites TDI SL, Whites TDI Pro, Whites TDI, Minelab GP 3500, Minelab GPX 4000 and Minelab GP

You're not alone Tom. Except I made a similar comment on a forum and got major push back. If it gets that deep on the beach great I'm all for it. But I'd prefer to see a natural target dug at 14" to verify the depth.

I think test beds are good to get to know your detector and what it can do. It also shows basic strengths when doing comparisons against other detectors. But the real world is the proof the detector performs at infinite scenarios. When I watch videos I usually have more faith in live dug targets especially when comparisons are being made.

Dilek, I don't know if you can/will answer this question. In regards to target ID especially in high mineralized soil or on deep targets. Is the Legends SMF geared to stabilize the Target ID under these conditions? I know that's going to depend on how mineralized the soil it and how deep the target is. But I'm sure your company has to have some idea on how the Legend will perform u

I've owned a lot of Nokta Makro detectors, Racer 1 and 2, Impact, Multi Kruzer and Simplex. Build quality on them has never been an issue that I can recall. But performance has never been anything special IMO with the exception of the Impact. However the audio on the Impact sucked and I sold it for that reason. IMO they are just mediocre machines and ever since the Equinox came out I could s
