Whoever picks the nearest number will be the lucky winner. The number will be drawn out of a bag on video in in March, just in time for spring. Further details on how to easily qualify for the free drawing can be found in this thread...

They wouldn't necessarily have to "leap frog" past Minelab in technology. BBS is still the standard to beat to many in terms of punching through mineralization in both sand and on land. But hand in hand with that is it's legendary stability in those kinds of conditions as well when dealing with some people's particular mineralization. Having my own personal experience in

Heard a rumor but don't know the origins of it's source, so take this with a healthy grain of salt. *IF* it's true and this "multifrequency" thing pans out in mineral punching depth and stability then it could be cause for concern to Minelab...

I'll throw in my two cents...
Sovereign GT (Raw power, depth, stability, along with a few other unique features)
Explorer (What can you say about the unique VDI setup and a few other major perks?)
Whites QXT/QXT Pro (Same machine, just Pro might be a tad hotter maybe, unless the sensitivity numbers were just re-scaled to make it appear that way)
Whites 6000 Pro XL (As good as it gets i

As to the SEFs being heavy, depends on which machines they are made for. By the numbers others have weighed their FBS versions of the SEF coils, the BBS versions I weighed myself appear to be much lighter. The 15x12 I owned, without a coil cover being used and instead using spray on bed liner, was lighter than the stock 10" Tornado, which ain't a very heavy coil either. The 12x10 I curr

OK, a friend just got the latest version of this machine (the F75 special edition, LTD, or whatever you want to call it), and he made darn sure it was the latest version in both software and hardware. Hopefully this will help to clear up all the confusion on all these endless software/hardware versions that seem to have come out over time in an attempt to fix EMI or mineralization issues.

Thanks to all who actually had some input on the questions asked. Right now I think we've narrowed it down to the latest version of the F75LTD with the black shaft, which I guess some are calling an SE or LE or something depending on how they list it. Still some confusion as to that though right now, but either way I'm hearing the latest hardware/software version of this machine doesn

Hello all, hoping you can chime in with opinions here to help guide me on my early searching on the Fisher line up. Right off the bat I want to apologize as I'm rushed for time and won't be able to edit/widdle down this post in a more direct manner. I simply have to be about the door in a minute here and so I just pounded out this post as fast as I could, without eliminating any duplica

I should add....The Sovereign GT has about a 12.5 digit wide notch window. We crunched the numbers and by adjusting it high enough to just barely kill a 165 tab number it will then block about 84% of all round and square tabs we sampled (numerous ones from various sites), while still recovering (by our numbers anyway) the vast majority of rings at a site. Yep, best way to find gold rings on land

The Sovereign using any 180 scale meter has the sharpest resolution in the conductivity range of foil all the way up to copper penny that I've ever used on a machine. Foil starts roughly ar

Keith, real interesting machine. I've been on the fence about the Blisstool for some time now patiently watching/reading to see just how this machine pans out, so forgive me if this has been covered already in this thread as I don't have the time at the moment to read through it all (but will sooner or later here)...
Have you used the Blisstool, and if so...Have you put them head to

Speaking of mass confusion, I see Whites has a new machine out they are calling the "GT". Great, name it after a Sovereign so people get their wires crossed even more in threads.

Are you saying a concentric will give longer target response? I don't think the two co-relate. I can say the Sovereign has the longest, most rich, most detailed response to targets I've ever seen on a detector. I can say though that the ultra sharp DD line of the 12x10 does indeed make target response more "crisp", although still long and detailed. Like plucking a guitar with

I used to be a bigger concentric fan. Bad experiences with the lousy 10" DD coils they used to put on Explorers only firmed that up for me for a while. Those coils seemed to have rather fuzzy fields, which caused instability, separation, and depth issues in my soil. Now that I've used some quality DD coils the difference is like night and day. In my soil, DDs handle mineralization bette

I'm not knocking the 6000 Pro XL. Owned two over the years. Best analog detector I ever used, and in fact I'd put it as my #4 (but close to 3) all around best detector I've ever used over the years. To me it was a 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Had it had tone alerts and perhaps a digital meter it would have been a 9. And had it had more depth or at least a few 12" or so DD coils to

Rather than continue to much up Earthmansurfer's excellent light weight Etrac thread, I figured I'd start posting more battery conversion content in a separate thread. You can read further (and probably should first) on lipo batteries and their perks in weight savings, etc, and care, in that thread here...
And if your still game, then here's further content and what I'd

Earthmansurfer, two of the software updates I'd like to see would be the ability to go into "Explorer mode" in terms of re-assigning the VDI matrix to that. The Explorer's VDI makes much more sense to me and I feel I can get more "hints" to potential target ID via that then I could with the Etrac IMO. One of the reasons why I loved the smartfind screen on the Explore

Sure, couldn't agree more. A couple years ago, for instance, my circle of hunting friends pounded a empty lot next to some rail road tracks that was the site of picking people up and unloading them onto trains. Never an official depot with a building, just a small town spot the train would stop. About 6 of us raked that site for what it's work and came up with a lot of good coins, inclu

Earthmansurfer, impressive range of modifications and great documentation for others who wish to follow in your footsteps. Nothing makes me more happy than to see people mod stuff, and not just detectors. Keep it up my friend. You are doing a great service to all those FBS users are there who want a light weight machine that Minelab wouldn't listen about and build.

Yes, I don't care for coil encoding chips trying to lock out the aftermarket myself. Makes for poor coil selection and steep prices IMO. Like trying to force you to only buy original manufacturer parts for your car. I see Coiltek is authorized though by Minelab so no worries of the coils not working with newer Xterras. I see they also sell a 3khz trash coil for it like 5 or 6" or someth

Here's that new 15" Coiltek Xterra coil that is available in all the freq ranges...
Curious though, that they say the 3khz model is for "low mineralization"? That seems counter-intuitive to what I've always experienced with low freq detectors, where it's the higher frequencies that seem to have issues with at least my mineralization. Perhaps it's that thi

Concerning the Bandido II Umax with VDI and tone alerts and the ability to switch to a freq lower than 8khz for my soil...On second thought, I've been eyeing the T2SE or F75LTD for some time now, but I just don't want to risk it due to the higher freq in my soil. Now, if they could make those in a low freq, or with the ability to switch to that lower freq when you want...There might be

Synthnut, one more thing...You said the Excalibur was amped up? I'm assuming it's the audio amp some are using. If that's the case it only shows benefits in pin point mode from what I hear. I also saw some testing done where I believe they said that audio amplifier showed no benefit on the GT, as the PP mode on the GT appears to already do it's own amping of the audio by way o

Does Kellyco sell that Detech coil? At least for the BBS versions they have never been carried in the US, but are in the UK. Same deal with the 10x14, although I think Kellyco sells the FBS versions of those. Just not sure if they carry that little coil in FBS too?

A bit more on lipos/chargers that I got asked in a PM which might be helpful to those considering going lipo on a detector...
This lipo he's considering...
You want to use the matching male plug they sell to mate with the power lead on that pack to hook it up to your detector. You'll also need one to charge it depending on which charger you pick (read below).
As for a charger,

For my prior QXTs- A VDI # to split hairs when say nickel or ring hunting better, and larger coil options in a DD (such as a 12x10) to push depths further and also separate left/right better. Looks like this might be a possibility with the new dongles to put Fisher compatible coils on the low freq Whites line. Really hoping that dongle tunes the coils to the machine for as good of performance as

I think the Explorer guys early on with the 10" coil would sometimes flip the coil backwards, if I remember right because the coil mount is towards the back end of the coil, so by flipping it backwards now the extra length of coil is under the shaft and thus makes things less nose heavy to an extent. Why anybody would make any coil with the mounting ears not dead center in the middle of the
