40 plus yrs detecting and I just learned something new. I also like the 2d smearing affect from iron That you mention. I will be passing this along to my Manticore buddy.I don't think he is digging audio signals that are smeared in 2d. Great learning experiencing on this forum. Thank you and everyone providing feedback to you.

Question for Tom. You mention not to operate a detector in the beach mode on dry sand, but to use a more sensitive mode. I wasn't aware of this.care to elaborate more? I run a Nox 600 and my friend a Manticore. Good info, thanks!!

For you Manticore users I’m asking for a friend. Out of the box with no tweaking, will it out perform the Nox 800? He doesn’t like to tweak much. I know ground conditions and Emi are a factor. Are there recommended tweaks necessary to get the edge? I’ve read through a lot of the responses to Toms post and it’s a lot to absorb. Thanks. I use a Nox 600, MultiKruzer and a few Fishers. After 40 plus

Never had any money going up in a large family(12 kids). When I was small used to scratch around in the gravel finding coins. One day eyeballed a 1917s wheatie by some railroad tracks, this in 1964. Fast forward to Jan 1978, just out of the marines and noticed some treasure hunting magazines at the news stand. Thought this might be a nice hobby to persue. Some months later got my first of many m

Good luck with that Frank. Im gonna stick with the 3D, Gold Bug and a few others. Cant justify buying one of those fancy detectors as I dont get out like I used too. But I do like seeing what others find with them.

Havent posted in ages though I visit often. Nothing to brag about as far as finds go. My question is, how do manufacters preset ground balance? Is it set for medium mineralization or what? Four of my many detectors, 1280x, Delta 4000, Eurotek Pro, Ace 250 are preset. Still maintaining Mike's Cz Page on the web, for a few more yrs. Thanks.

I will see what doc has to say tomorrow. Thanks for the great advice. When I do start detecting I will put the 5 inch hockey puck on a bounty hunter rod if that's possible. Chestmount as light as possible. Now to update Mikes Cz Page. Need to put a counter on there and see if anyone even visits anymore)

Last Oct I had rotator cuff surgery. I've been back to work doing light duty for a month now. Shoulder still isn't quite right but its better then it was. Afraid to swing a detector just yet. Last time detecting was a year ago. Found a paper thin 186? Seated dime using my 3d at my secret beach spot. Have to be patient for a while longer till I get the ok. Lots of forum posts to catch up
