I still ise a Nautilus 2b detector for Civil War relic hunting. It's the Harley Davidson of metal detectors. By that I mean its an old design, hand made, not pretty......but the results are staggering. With the 10 inch coil I can easily dig bullets at 12 inches. This used to be the detector of choice for hard core relic hunters in the south.

If you could only have one machine for relic hunting and one machine for coin shooting what would they be? As I approach retirement, I'm looking for simple to use and set up machines that do not require reading a large owners manual for set up and yet have a machine that really performs. For example, I have a Nautilus 2B that has multiple knobs and switches. It looks complicated but is easy

Is the F75 still Fishers best all around machine for coin and relic hunting? Does anyone know if they are going to release anything new this year or next ? I also saw a video of a new designed coil they are soon releasing but I don't know anymore than that.
Thanks for your information.

How about a Nautilus detector made in a much smaller control housing ? Keep the operation of the detector the same. Just make the whole unit lighter.......
Still the best CW relic detector ever made in my opinion.

I heard someone on a forum say the X is close to acting like a Nautilus. Twenty years ago no detector could match the depth of a Nautilus. In Virginia, only a serious CW relic hunter would use a Nauty. I would consider an X if they were built here.

I found 5 Confederate Infantry buttons from the same hole with an XLT. The signa graph could easily tell between trash and treasure. Just purchased a new MX Sport in March. I have said we need to support US detector companies for some time. This is what happens when your products never really morph with new technology. The inexpensive detectors from overseas was the final nail in the coffin. Sad

Has anyone purchased a new Whites machine lately ? I don't hardly see any talk about their machines.....good or bad. With a renewed buy products made in USA, I would consider purchasing a new machine from them. Looking at the MX Sport.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your input !

I have a Dues, F75 and G2.
Just wasn't sure what would be the best choice. I'm looking for coins in England and WW2 artifacts in Germany/Belgium. Of course all with permission.

I am planning a trip to Europe to go detecting. For those in the US who have gone to Europe, what machine works best for you or did you wish you had another machine. All suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Mike !
I enjoyed your commentary on all the coils you use. Just received a Magic coil today. It's a new company and made in Russia. Looks really nice, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

I am looking to add some new coils to my F75. With so many coil choices from Europe I was wondering what's the difference. I've looked at Cor's, NEL, Detech, Magic and Mars. Have any of you tried them for a comparison?
I appreciate the feed back !

I was wondering what machines anyone has gone back to after trying/purchasing any of the new detectors that have hit the market in the past several years. I recently purchased a Nautilus2ba and Fisher F75.I had the Nautilus repaired by Wayne Lee. It hits hard on my 15 inch planted mine ball. The F75 was just purchased and it hits hard and runs quiet. I have purchased many of the new machines but

Currently have an Impact but have owned several F75's over the years. Tom is always very honest and insightful. There is no perfect machine but the Impact and F75 are quite good units.

I recently read on the Simplex review Tom made a reference to the Impact review he did. How can I find that review?
Thanks for your help !

Which US manufacturers do you think are now done? They have all been beat by a relative newcomer to the industry who listens to their customers !

Does anyone know the part number of the Calrad charger that Nautilus used for rechargeable batteries? Or does anyone have one for sale?
Just had Wayne Lee recalibrate the loop and my 2B is up and running again. Wayne provides great service. He called me the next day after receiving my unit to tell me what was wrong and the cost for repair. He has provided great service and I'm happy he'

In Virginia, the Nautilus2ba is the deepest I have ever used. I believe the inventor was able to push his transmit power past what was acceptable at the time. Transmit power can be cranked to 44 volts. Shells dug at 2 to 3 feet are common with the standard10 in coil. Just my opinion. I use a Dues and Equinox with good results but they can't match a Nautilus.
