I've got a T2SE that I've had 4 years now. Love that machine. I made some of my best finds with it. I chose not to have it updated to the DST for fear that it would change the way the machine behaves. The new DST tones I do not like. I'm wondering if the T2 Classic has the old style T2 tones or the updated Deus-like sounds the DST units have? I'm thinking about giving one a sh

I have a Teknetics T2SE non-DST and it's my favorite machine that I have. My line up consists of a Minelab CTX3030 and a Garrett AT Gold. All of my machines are "site specific" yet I find the open woods and a T2 in hand the most enjoyable.

Call me lucky, but I've had my Minelab CTX3030 since June of 2012 when they first came out. I've hundreds of hours on it spanning from sub freezing to 95+ heat temperatures. I also have done quite a lot of salt water detecting machine totally submerged up to neck deep. Zero issues. Ever.
Now I am a bit crazy with maintenance. Since day 1 I've had a screen protector and cover. D

Minelab Explorer SE Pro and Minelab Etrac tie for 1st place. 2nd place goes for Minelab CTX3030. I've owned all these units. I spent the most time with the CTX3030 and the Etrac. In my opinion the Etrac stops you in your tracks when your coil is over silver, something the CTX3030 doesn't do. I prefer the audio on the Explorers and Etrac vs the CTX3030. The CTX3030 may have more accurat

Why does the DST upgrade raise the pitch of the non-ferrous tone on both the Teknetics T2 and Fisher F75 vs the previous models both machines? I love the bassy round full tone of my T2SE (non-DST) but the DST version of the T2 has a higher pitch almost Deus like tone assigned to the non-ferrous tone. I understand the DST upgrade offers more customization and is indeed an improvement on an already

I'm noticing as of late via Facebook and Forums that the Garett AT Gold is being used as relic machines more and more. I had an AT Pro and thought it was a fantastic unit, complimented my Minelab Etrac nicely. When the CTX3030 came out the AT Pro got sold and a Teknetics T2SE entered my lineup for relic duties. Now the AT series have been around awhile now. The AT Gold at least 4 years! Now

Garrett is safe. Their AT line is nearing "cult status" They appeal to the outdoorsy relic hunters mostly. That's their niche market. Facebook and YouTube have a lot to do with the AT Pro / AT Gold phenomenon.
Minelab is safe. There hasn't been anything remotely close to touching the stability and spot on target ID at depth that the FSB and FSB2 Minelabs have. Minelabs nic

I think cost of R&D is a factor. I would be happy with an update on that's already available. Like a CZ that uses lithium battery and a DD coil. Concentric coils belong on entry level machines in my opinion and 9v batteries are expensive and again belong on entry level machines like Bounty Hunters. Minelab could keep the BBS tech but make the Excal on a straight shaft and address the wea

I just don't understand why manufacturers will kick out coin machines yearly especially in the low to mid price point, but completely neglect a huge demograph of our hobby. It's not like beach guys don't have money. Many of them spend $200+ on a scoop!!

Why aren't there any new beach dedicated units being released? The last semi-beach unit released was the Minelab CTX3030 in 2012. Salt water beaches I am referring to. Let's face it, the Fisher CZ20/CZ21 are ancient at almost 30 years old tech and the Minelab BBS Excalibur/Sovereigns are nearly 25 years old technology!! I'm wondering why in this day in age manufacturers aren't

There's something special about each non-ferrous item I've dug in the thick iron carpets at my colonial home sites. Once the 'easy pickings' are accounted for, the really rewarding challenge is what's left, which in most cases is a lot. My friend and I hit a cellar site many times with Minelab FBS/FBS2 units and Teknetics T2 with 5inch coil as well as the factory 11 inch.

Any of you guys unable to part way one or more of your machines because of sentimental value it holds? Even if it's now obsolete? For example, I've had my Teknetics T2SE going on 4 years now. It's getting beat looking. It has an electrical tape wrapped handle. It survived being dropped into a creek, came back to life 4 days later hotter than hell! I've found my oldest coin fro

I'm going to give it a try by marking a 6x6ft square in the dense iron. I'm going to start high sensitivity and decrease by 15 points after covering the entire area. I will flag but not dig signals. See if any new signals come to light when the sensitivity levels drop. Also see if I lose any flagged targets that the R2 saw at higher sensitivity, but lost at a lower setting. Should be ti

I'm wondering what you experienced relic hunters use for a sensitivity setting when in those dense iron beds around foundations of old home sites. I use a Racer 2 with the small coil as my primary iron site machine. I'm able to run it very hot 96-99 sensitivity without chatter in the woods at these cellar hole sites. My question is this: Is this too hot a setting to use in iron? Am I cr

Wish they copied the F75 / T2 shaft design. I have a Racer 2 and a Teknetics T2SE and the T2 is by far better balanced. The Racer feels coil heavy to me, especially with the 11x7 stock coil.the T2 literally feels like a natural extension of my arm.

My Racer 2 was a pro pack and I got the 4.7x5.2 coil. I don't care though, because that coil performs AWESOME in iron! I nabbed a bunch of keepers with that coil at a site I hit with my CTX3030 and T2SE with its 5inch DD coil.

Did your R2 come with the 4.7x5.2 OOR coil too? My R2 did, but I see some others got the new smooth topped 5inch DD coil with theirs. Not sure if there is and real world performance differences between the 2 small coils.

I wonder if a non-DST F75 would hit that nickel in the JE or DE processes. I read somewhere where depth was slightly less on the updated DST units than the previous F75/T2 machines. There was a chart if I recall correctly. I've heard the DST upgrade being referred to as a "lobotimized" F75. This is why my T2SE is staying as is.

I noticed my Racer 2 JUMPS on big iron relics like horseshoes, but it's very obvious that it's large iron under the coil. On my last hunt with it I got 3 horse shoes and a couple iron farm buckles that I knew right away was big iron. I can honestly say I did not dig a single nail! I plucked a few buttons, a large cent and some lead from the nails too.I like iron relics a lot and enjoy c

How's the F75 depth compare to a Teknetics T2? I use a T2SE non-DST and always wondered if I may have missed some of the deep targets that an F75 would hit on.

I have the Racer 2 and a Teknetics T2SE non-DST and I do not plan on selling the T2 nor do I plan on the DST upgrade. I like that unit the way it is. I like its balance better than my Racer 2, I like its All-Metal mode better. I feel it has a slight depth advantage in my mild Massachusetts soil than my Racer 2. It also does not seem to be affected as much by air gap between the coil and the groun

Just when I'm about to pull the trigger on a Racer2 this new Fors unit comes out!! Jeez! Some tough decisions. I need a site specific machine that being colonial cellar sites with carpets of square nails. Would the Fors Relic have an advantage on the Racer2 in terms of unmasking whats left of the non-ferrous targets? If so is it a big difference? I see it's priced a bit lower than the R

Hi all, I'm torn between the Nokta Fors Core and Fors Gold. I live in Massachusetts and mainly relic hunt at colonial sites including old farm fields and cellar holes. I currently have a Minelab CTX3030 and a Teknetics T2SE non-DST (I prefer the sparkiness of the original). Both the CTX and T2SE do well in the iron, but my sites are pretty crushed and I'd like to pull out some small but
