I had a friend at work who thought he would get rich metal detecting. He had been hunting his yard (haha) and found nothing but trash.
I picked up a harbor freight 9 function detector just for fun and headed to the local park.
He had a bounty hunter which cost about 10x what my cheap 9 function harbor freight detector cost me.
I called him on video chat because he wanted to see if it

Just sort of wondered how many of you are still using the CZ-21 in the wet sand since the Equinox 800 came out?
Now the equinox is a fantastic machine, I do love mine, but there are situations where I find I do better with my CZ-21 (besides in the water).
Where I am hunting lately there is an endless amount of small bits of iron from a washed out pier, wrecks, etc, in the wet sand. There a

Hi I have that book along with several others. My interest in old "junk" was for old detectors which can be gutted and used for my own builds. Housings, shafts, coils

I had a CZ-21 before I got my Equinox 800. I used the equinox for awhile and was really on the fence... had a difficult time parting with my CZ-21 but I eventually sold it to replenish the savings I used to buy my Equinox.
Fast forward... I just purchased another BRAND NEW CZ-21. :|
The equinox is ok for wet sand and beach hunting, but I lost faith in it in the water. It just was not cons

I am reading, studying electronics, and trying to learn to design and build metal detectors for something to do to exercise my aging brain.
I am in Saint Augustine, FL and just wondered if anyone might have some detector parts in a junk pile they no longer want or need?
Need not be working, looking for old coils (of any type), old shafts, old units in any condition dead or alive or even emp

You know I just had a thought... a small light ring is just LESS likely to come off. Its light.. and thin. So it doesnt hydroplane off the finger like a wide heavy ring. Trust me women are still wearing rings.. they just must not come off as often.

Considering that it would cost me about $650 to repair my out of warranty CZ-21 if it flooded, I am not too concerned about the warranty of the Equinox.
I could buy a brand new unit for the price of just repairing my old CZ-21, so a repair is certainly cheaper than that.

I find the balance of the Equinox just fine once you heat up the cuff and size it correctly to your arm.
By the time the battery finally needs to be replaced we will probably be able to buy one online with a higher capacity in the same physical size, so that is a plus also.
The more I use my equinox on the beach the more I find myself choosing it over my CZ.
One time I hit a spot where s

I'd always wondered why I find plenty of rings... lots of small silver rings, but never any small gold or platinum rings. I watched Tom's DVD and he mentioned something interesting.. he mentioned that platinum and stainless steel where actually very close, and close to wet sand and difficult for machines to pick up.
So, I pulled out a 5/16" stainless steel washer, which would b

Good deal, I really only made mine for myself also but I just keep one up on ebay in case someone asks me for one .... obviously I am not getting rich selling them for $13 shipped with hardware when they take 3 hours to make!
Most people just zip tie the belt clip to the shaft.

Great news thank you.. I'm really looking forward to the DVD so that is a relief.
I've been beach and water hunting for a few years but always trying to learn as much as possible.
