If it has a coil cover, have you cleaned under it lately? You should be getting sound during GB. Try a different coil. These are one of the most stable detectors out there. You may have bought someone's problems. Check with a local detector club for others that have the Omega and seek their help. Experience is very helpful, in these situations, to trouble shot the problem.

Don't forget to set your threshold to a faint but audible sound so you will know when a dig-able sound comes through and, if running with discrimination, an object is nulled out. Read, read, and re-read the manual then get out and use the detector as much as possible because it is the only way to get proficient with it. There are many forums besides this one with alot of helpful tips plus

Tom,
Not sure how others here may feel but I would enjoy a DVD done on a super technical level too. What I mean is an in the shop type of showing of the electronics involved with the different aspects of detecting. What is the detectors actually doing from a tech point of view. Phase shifts, frequency oscillations, sending and receiving signals, signal amplifications, what is the detecto

I'm new to this but I felt the same way watching the DVDs. I will probably watch them several more times so more of the education will sink in to be beneficial. Tom did say to learn one detector real good and use your knowledge along with thorough research to be successful but after hearing how all the detectors he has used have their own strengths and weaknesses, it makes me want a colle

Didn't see a link on your club site yet for the pay pal transaction and I don't mind sending you a check as soon as you let us know when, where, and exact amount. Post Office will be closed Monday for Memorial Day (fly your flags). Thanks for making this happen Suncoast Wally and Tom!

I don't know when I'm going to be beach hunting but I sure do want to learn more about it as I usually visit one shore or both atleast once a year. As soon as you get it made I'll be buying one!

The DVD is fantastic! Just recently bought one from Kellyco and have only had a chance to watch it 5 or 6 times. Sure wish the soil here was as nice to dig in and grass as prevalent so I could get my coil on the ground better without rubbing the bottom off on rocks and desert grit. The info in the video is such a great training aid that it should be helpful to new and old alike. I'm still

Mine should be here tomorrow so I'll be doing my own test soon enough. I like what I've read about the probe and seen the you tube videos that are pretty impressive. From what I've read about pulse induction detectors, the uS number can be an indication as to how effective it will be detecting gold. Since I've already bought one, I will just see how well it does without wo

Could the moisture content of the soil change the ground balance? Seems like water would change the conductivity between the minerals, trash, and targets in the soil. In a park where an irrigation system may have run at an unknown time maybe?

It's a long story but you know how sometimes you do what you feel you have to to provide for your family.

I couldn't help but notice that the test objects were still reporting a signal as they were placed and moved on the table behind the coil. Wouldn't their presence there effect the test results since they are still in the coil field even though they weren't being moved? Just trying to learn. Thanks.

Tom,
That's what I was thinking after reading some of your articles here and comments on this and other forums. My F75 will be here tomorrow and, even though it's not an LTD, I'm expecting exciting times with it. I know it may be a challenge at first but that is part of the fun, learning a new gadget. My background has always been a hands on, figure out how and why things wor

Tom,
This hobby looks like it can very easily become an obsession and I appreciate learning from someone with your background and experience. The area I live in (Reno, NV) is close to a lot of gold and silver producing mines so I plan on checking these out along with the old ghost town areas. When I travel out of my area, I plan on taking my detector/s with me so I will be in many different so

New to this forum and detecting. My F75 should be here tomorrow and I've already ordered Tom's DVD from Kellyco. I also have one of the new Fisher Gold Bugs on order with them also. From everything I've read so far, I see this forum is going to be an invaluable source of information to me and my detecting friends. Thank you Tom!
