I couldn't agree with you more Beyonder as I said about a month ago and sure enough it is holding true
"There is a phenomenon that I have experienced myself where a person will use a new detector a bit more diligently and employ more concentration than they do as they become more accustom to it that leads to some remarkable finds in areas they have hunted before , which leads them to b

This probably has some bearing on why iron is disced out in most modes. If you don't ask the machine to disc out the iron it probably won't because the iron is going to be the stronger reading. Sheds some light on the results of these "testers" who insist the only way to run a detector is with "0" disc. "Someone" should try some retesting with the Etrac and

I switch between the CTX and Deus , mostly the CTX when it's really trashy or counts.
I have hunted a couple of times with a friend and his new Equinox and I'm still waiting for him to show me an "aha" moment.
IF that comes I'll become more motivated to try one.

I have hunted with a friend and his Nox a couple times in modern parks full of modern trash that have been hunted mercilessly with contemporary de

Unfortunately , you're missing the whole point about perception there Grant.
The method Tom's demonstrating is indeed probably less harmful to the grass overall and works great in an ideal world under those ideal digging conditions and , nonetheless has absolutely no positive effect on someone seeing you carrying around that obvious shovel,,,damage done -- accept it.

Nice review.
Smacks of realistic credibility , which so many don't.
The nose heavy nature is something it will have in common with the Deus and 11" coil.
You might consider mounting your pinpointer under the elbow versus a power pack.

Tom , I think we actually agree completely.
I enjoy living in a free country as well and all appearances are that the Nox is possibly just another throw away electronic device after the warranty expires.
Good for the cost of a used coil and some spare parts. Hopefully by then the next "latest and greatest" will have arrived , the PI/VLF hybrid with stereo audio , imaging , built in a

Pasttom , your first point is well taken. Making any association between dates and the Equinox is indeed a slippery slope to travel.
As to the second , I think the relative "cheap" initial cost is what gives credibility to the throw away perception of the thing. At what point does the nature of the repair and the associated cost make it counterproductive? It's a valid question on

I've enjoyed the topic of warranty being kicked around in relation to the Equinox since it's a radical change from Minelab's other designs and how it's not going to be viewed as a throw away item. The crux of the issue is in Minelab's response...." While there would be a charge associated with the repair".... and just what that charge might be on a three year ol

This should actually be useful and a breath of fresh air from the stale preconceived notions people create to imitate real life settings.
Hopefully you will have time to reverse the tables and make the Nox the pursuer.

Seems to me the whole GB default counter intuitive thing is Minelab's way of subliminally making their new machine show better results by making better hunters out of those who use it. They know gold prospectors will GB early and often and ignore the default while park hunters like myself are more inclined to be lazy and use tracking. Clever corporate strategy if I'm right but then I

I don't care about the Equinox (that's irrelevant since I don't have one), I'm comparing my testing of the Deus to yours , it's different until I crank it up balls to the wall and swing it at a pace that's unrealistic for trashy sites.

It's a little difficult to get exact measurements because of the camera angle distortion but I think I was able to reasonably reproduce your test criteria using the 3.5" of a 2x4 to scale off of and subtract a bit. Let me give you a couple of suggestions since you are not a modern trash hunter. It's not like hunting fields of iron where you are trying to extract each and every poss

I'm guessing two of them are equine related.
The round one with the hole in the center is probably a saddle concho and had a pair of leather strips through it for tying down gear.
The ringed one may be a section of a bridle chin strap.

They are indeed listing it with a drop shipment of 5 to 7 days.
I'll wait until one is available from an out of state dealer where I won't have to pay 7% sales tax

We have all read test after test and seen video after video proving the Equinox works.
When are we going to see one that proves that the Equinox works BETTER!

I'll have to consider that I fall into the same camp as Daniel here in that I will eventually get my hands on an 800to make my own determination regardless of Tom and Keith's reviews whenever they show up.
However , bias , like hypocrisy is the hardest thing for the one affected to recognize and I openly admit that if my observations do not correlate with their(Tom,Keith) assessme
