You can replace a button pad or screen on a CTX or Etrac for a hefty but palatable price. If a similar gremlin appears on an Equinox that is located in the handle assembly , what do you think the cost of that repair will be? We have already seen leaking and button failure issues on warranted units , for whatever reasons , but these issues are not going to stop occurring when the warranty is over.

Absolutely not.
A good analogy would be the emergence of diesel powered pickup trucks in the late 70's and early 80'

Interesting that Minelab has evidently taken the position that they don't want to admit to creating a product that really needs this as an aftermarket item to the point they have given their sister shills orders to not even allow discussion about it,,,,,,,

Picked mine up from River Team 6 and the best thing I found was that it does not add any new dimension to the detecting venues I am relegated to when compared to the Etac , CTX and Deus. On the contrary , all three have superior ID ability in modern trash through their better tones and VDI range. I also found Minelab's manufactured shortage allowed me to dispense with the NOX for what I had

I have to agree the 6" won't be much of an improvement , it still won't be as effective in modern trash at IDing nonferrous items as the CTX or Etrac. In iron it might be nice but I'd still prefer a 5 x 10.
Those bizarre ebay prices are a thing of the past. I enjoyed the experience of testing the NOX for no cost thanks to the hype. I could have made a few bucks possibly but

It appears to be a six month warranty on batteries which will be covered by the life span so any issues will be on the owners dime.

I have a question about the general build quality since you are one of the few that I know of who has had their hands on both the Equinox and Kruzer.
Seems I remember the quality of the Equinox was less than impressive to you which I would concur with since I had to send mine back to Minelab for both rod and screen issues. Is the Makro build quality as good as the Impact which many have complime

Bingo!!
Why hijack another's thread instead of staring your own?

Lowboy,
You're approaching the point of less return if you want to try one and decide to wait much longer. Still enough time/demand to swing one around a bit and be able to dispose of it for what you paid but if you wait too much longer you're going to be better off picking a used 800 for the price of a 600. For the type of hunting you do it could be something special , for me it simp

My favorite food is what I cook myself and my own kitchen , at least I know who sneezed on it and what is included.
There are never stray cats around Korean restaurants so I really avoid them and , Mike , you ever looked inside a tamale?

Looks like the "Minelab shortage" is ending as they are popping up in stock everywhere .
I think corporate has ridden that pony as far as they can go.
I think Cabela's is holding at 899 but most dealers will probably knox off 50 bucks or so for new with full warranty.
Glad I sold mine when I did.

I suspect this will be a gigantic red flag to Minelab
"Before trying to submerge it. I checked the seals of the battery compartment and put silicone grease on them. "
Good luck!!

Like Tom in Ca. I saw little reason to keep the 800 but I took the lazy way out instead ,,, didn't want to hassle with shipping and paypal so I sold it for MSRP to a local guy who wanted it and saved him tax and shipping costs. Different strokes..................

It's easy to put a negative connotation on the DNA and I too initially felt the same way. However , considering the poor supply , I think Tom , like Daniel Tn , may be showing a lot of class by keeping his evaluation close to the vest until more 800's are available , instead adding fuel to the fire by running around piling praise on it like so many of the promoters.
If so , my hats

Bottle caps and aluminum screw caps were the Achille's heel of the Deus as well but it had a better "round sound" than the E800 and both require pushing buttons to get the decision. The modern trashy park is just not the 800's forte without one resigning themselves to digging a lot of trash they could accurately avoid with other detectors. I know "you don't know what

I think it's a little comical actually coming from an individual who lectured the forum on how not leaving every third target in the ground for future detectorists was greedy , not to mention the inconsideration of hunters who remove all the nickels from public parks.
"and MY point was, past generations were uncarring about what the future generations found as they took all the good

That one comes with a microphone , mirror and Go-Pro built in so he can see , hear and watch himself while detecting.
