You probably did this, but since you didn't mention it I'll ask. Did you do a factory reset? If not turn the detector on holding the coil on a horizontal plane in front of you and keep holding the power button until you hear a double beep.
Coincidentally, the detector you mention cutting your losses and getting, the Nox, went squirrelly on me over the weekend after I changed the coil

Sounds like an intelligent strategy, Tony.
And testimony to the cz platform that it's still with you over a quarter century later after many others have come and gone.

I believe the main guy behind that PP was Carl Moreland...he's since gone from Whites to FT. Pretty sure he was then the main brain behind the F-Pulse/Tek-Point. Others here with more knowledge correct me if I'm wrong.

Aaron, I found out the same way you did...someone on a forum. I was pleasantly surprised how well it works and how fast, hope you will be too!

I never knew before Mike's post that Jorge Saad was the lead designer on the Minuteman/Eurotek Pro, but that explains what happened today'
I got out for about an hour after work today with it and noticed when I set the detector down for a retrieval that I was getting some EMI noise. But swinging the detector over the ground mitigated the EMI.
I've had two other detectors that

Good questions all, Pimento, better than my answers. Got rid of the 8" in short order and never retried it on the Silver Sabre after getting it back from Rusty.

No worries, Pimento. Just looking to increase my education by getting opinions from those more knowledgeable on the subject than me...like you, Mike and Tom.
I had a Silver Sabre micromax that air-tested on a silver dime at 9". I bought a 5.75 coil from Rusty Henry and had him tune the detector to the smaller coil back before he retired. Wasn't expecting a lot more than 7" but w

I've been told with a fixed ground balance detector when you switch coils to one that the detector hasn't been tuned to, you lose performance since the detector isn't going to be precisely tuned to the new coil.
Would the amount of performance loss be tied to how "in spec" the replacement coil is?

Late life cycle pricing has made a number of nice FT detectors more affordable.
And the longer FT warranty is a plus...assuming you like the detector well enough to keep it a while.

Welcome, Picket. Sounds like you've picked up some important knowledge already and you'll continue to pick up more as you gain experience. Best of luck with your future detecting!

True that, Tom. For many years, Whites was THE name in metal detecting.
Always got a kick out of the old Whites TV commercial where the guy rubs his big old pot belly and says "My wife's proud of the weight I've lost...and she's proud of this!" as he holds up a gold ring.

Kind of interesting to see the thread from a bit over a year ago though, Tom.
Now Tom Boykin is gone along with Carl Moreland and other eminently qualified people who have abandoned the sinking ship.
One of those who jumped off and would be in a position to know has said that the company is being financially plundered by certain surviving relatives of Ken White.
Sadly, it looks inevitab

I know most on this forum aren't usually talking about or using entry level detectors but I recently bought a Tek Minuteman (a re-branded, lower priced Eurotek Pro) and it's a better than I expected little detector. And a lot of fun to use.
It won't push either of the higher end detectors I'm currently using into the closet. But I bought it for a family/friends/permission g

A couple years back I believe they were going for $30-$50 on fleabay but I haven't checked lately.
Funny that they have more value than any non-error genuine circulated Jefferson nickel in the same condition.

2 gold rings in 40 years...that's enough to make anyone a believer!
Kidding aside, think about your dug marble collection. I've got somewhere around a hundred marbles that were found in the ground while I was digging for something else containing metal. Not a single one found by my metal detector, yet not a single one would have been found without my detector. A lot of marbles in the

Welcome back, Rvance.
My feelings mirror Harold's. I tried more than once and I really wanted to bond with the F75, but I never could. Detecting with it just was too much like work, not fun. I'm not a fan of the menu driven interface, but what I really didn't click with was the audio. But that's just me, a lot of experienced and highly successful detectorists regard the F75

Very few negatives I can say about this forum, but one would be that PMs are easy to overlook.
You overlooked the one I sent you last month about this, Champ. I can tell because it shows as not read.
Sorry you got the boot, Champ.
Your post here explains a couple things. Glad to hear it wasn't Ron Shore selling the LRL. I dealt with him a couple times way back and he didn't im

tabman, your original post said, "The one thing that I didn't know was that the CZ3D has a faster recovery speed than 'previous' CZ detectors which they claim makes it better at trashy sites."
The manual words you quoted were: "With this detector, performance and ID can be further enhanced by a slower coil sweep speed, more so than previous CZ models, especially i

I have a cz-3d that I use regularly and I've had a cz-5 in the past.
If there is a difference in recovery speed, I never noticed...both are slow.
Better swing that cz-3d a lot slower than those Tesoros of yours, tabman!
The upside is with a proper unit you will see depths a Tesoro can't touch.
