I still love metal detecting, but I've backed away from the forums and never enjoyed watching MD videos. Sometimes when I have a long wait in line somewhere like today I enjoy catching up on this forum. I don't doubt Calabash's skill or ability. What bothers me is his smug attitude about his way being the only way. I've been using the Nox for two and a half years now and it pr

For me, emi determines frequency choice. Park 1 is my preferred but interference often nixes that choice and I try Park 2. If I still have to crank down the gain, then I go to single frequency. 15 khz and 10 khz are usually the best. 5 khz is much more EMI prone than the higher frequencies usually. Incidentally, the 6" coil is way better handling emi than the stock as you would expect.

Back before I started detecting, probably would have been the late 80's or early 90's, we used to chuckle at the commercial for Whites on late night TV. The guy pats his ample beer-belly and says his wife is proud of the weight he's lost and she's proud of this...as he holds up a nice gold ring. LOL!
The story of Whites demise has played out so many times when companies att

D-Tone, I didn't watch your videos, but I just read this thread and it seems to me that what you are experiencing in multi mode is electromagnetic interference. And the 15 kHz option that you are using is a frequency that usually handles both EMI and iron well.
My experience, and my biggest complaint about the Nox, is how susceptible it is to EMI in multi. I check the frequencies individu

Even if you're looking like a psychic in 6 months, possum, the amount of "juice" still matters to me.
The best I'm seeing now for smaller purchases is APMEX. They're selling $10 FV of 90% silver, their choice of dimes or quarters, for 69 cents per oz over face and free shipping over $99.
JM Bullion is second best selling $10 FV their choice for $134.56 and free shi

Up until recently, Provident was an excellent place to buy junk 90% silver coins. They ran sales often, and even when not on sale, you could make a small purchase for a reasonable per ounce cost over spot. As long as you spent $99 or more you also got free shipping.
Now that JM Bullion has officially closed on Provident it doesn't look so good. The name is still Provident but the selectio

Tom D, the 600 F2 settings have fewer adjustments, only 0-3. With the 600 would an F2 setting of "1" or "2" be the most appropriate to approximate the 800 F2 setting of "4". Thanks.

I was wondering what problems the 1.75 update corrected?
I know a lot of Nox whizzes here have used both versions, did the update fix the issues it was supposed to? Anybody go back to the original V1.50? And if so, why?

OK rustic, the quote above was from your earlier post where you flat-out stated that I slandered the now apparently defunct website.

I've noticed that Tom's "only 12% more separation" has become a reason for a lot of Nox users to dismiss the small coil.
But your percentage probably wouldn't be too far off if you said the big coil "only gets 15% more depth"
So if it's a relatively equal percentage, wouldn't the additional separation be more of an advantage than depth in trashi

Well rustic, at least you didn't say MSNBC.
Slander is a pretty strong term to use for someone giving their opinion on a forum where members routinely express and debate opinions, but if it makes you feel better I can add one of those ubiquitous legal disclaimers: "this post represents the opinion of the author only and unless expressly indicated should not be construed as indisputab

Somebody posted a link to a website called Giraffess on another forum tonight. They are selling a new Equinox 600 for $506.99. I might have gone out on a limb with my thoughts but I can't help it...my Spidey senses are tingling LOL!
I copied my response on that forum below, I'm curious to find out what the fine folks here think:

1. Honesty of signal - I dig very little iron with the AT Pro. So far, more with the Equinox. Caveat: over 8 years with the Pro, less than 8 weeks with the Nox.
2. Shorter learning curve. The Equinox does well with the preset programs. But when you go beyond the presets, there's more to learn than on the Pro.
3. Cost - Give or take, an AT Pro costs a good $100 less than the 600 and ab

Age goes up, strength goes down...ergonomics, Ozzie.
Harold, Cal's money's as green as anybody's sounds good to me. Think he has his heart set on an AT Pro though. LOL

Selling my Los Banos CZ-3D that has been calibrated and certified at 12.0" by NASA Tom Dankowski. Certified "design intent" examples of this legendary detector are in high demand and don't come up for sale very often, if you've been looking for one here is your opportunity.
This detector is indeed very deep in the field, clean and in perfect working condition with mod

Cal, since I knocked the other two videos of yours I watched featuring out of spec and defective detectors, I guess I should be fair and give you props when you do one like this.
Well done!
