Sink Rate Inland, a topic that comes up every couple/few years.
Anything that makes the soil move, . . worms, expansion/contraction, water, roots, earthquakes, man, animals, etc,, plays a role for an object with its gravity pull for it to sink, or in some cases rise or go sideways. Then we have fill from man, fill naturally occurring from dying organics and there is constant atmospheric dust

Daniel, I hear ya man. I don't envy the soil you have. We usually only bring one detector a site maybe two, one for back up. We also don't have to travel far to detect, all local so the soil only varies a bar or two. And, our spots keep getting fresh with new techs little advancements . . . . mostly unmasking advancements.
What I'm coming up with here is . . . a useful tool for

The only thing I ever used the Fe3o4 meter was to say to my hunting buddy "That ground is hot" Or "That ground is mild", etc. Then we'd say "That's why everything is shallow". And off we'd go detecting no matter what the ground reads.
What I'm trying to say is . . . Whatever the soil is . . whether you know "hot or mild", it's g

El Nino, thanks.
So now you know the strength of the mineralization on the site you chose to hunt, 2,3,4,6 bars. You now know your detection depth and detector will be handicapped. Where does that leave you? Does it tell you to dig everything? What do you do now that you know this handicap? One thing is . . ., if possible, purchase a detector that is suitable for the soil you hunt in most.

So you have a Fe3O4 on your detector . . ... what would you do differently to set it up? Change the GB? Lower the sens? Use some or no disc? Notch certain numbers?
Go get your Taracci to handle the bad ground? Dig everything? Use it as an excuse for getting skunked? Abandon the location and go elsewhere?
Are the Fe3O4 meters even accurate?
The f-75 had one. It would spike if you were over

Like Harold, I have a Tom tuned CZ3d that, as of now, I can't part with it, 1021. 12.2 on a dime. This doesn't help you though, but good luck, Porsche.

You're a thinker there tnss.
That set up would be for the younger fellers who can go a long day detecting. Past 4 hours, I'm ready to call it quits. . . . .especially when dozens and dozens holes have been dug.
At that point it's time to get back home and taste on a strong cup a coffee and eat a samitch.

The Deus2 is spectacular at ID'ing in the ground as in an air test at depth. I was air testing targets after I dug them and was always mumbling a "WOW"!under my breath. I just got the 13"x11" coil and had it out to what I named "The Button Field". I and others have dug several dozen+ flat colonial buttons out of this tiny area in a large field.

I love hunting in heavy iron and you have to "be in/get in" a certain mindset to do so to get good results.
If you are hunting in heavy iron, cherry picking is not on your mind. You'll be swinging slow and not covering much ground. You could be standing in one spot for many minutes or longer.
If you have iron volume, it will be on so you can barley hear it. We have to know

Wow, how about that! Who da thunk it? That means dive program is a super un-masker in your particular scenario. Let me clarify a couple things for my own head here.
-The only thing you changed in every program was notch, correct?
-What was the position of the dime compared the foil, in 3 dimensions?
-Did you circle the targets at any point? What did the unit tell you?
-What number was on th

Good story, Daniel, very refreshing. Don't hesitate to post things like that . . . getting the human side mixed into this tech site is welcomed, for me anyway.

I was playing with the D2 for a few minutes on the patio . . putting coins very close to each other and sweeping. I did hear that stair step warble mentioned by Tom between a nickel and a dime. I've never heard that before with any other machine. It's a sound you have to listen close to. The faster you swing the harder it is to distinguish. The sound seems blended, touching, almost over

There's always many things left in Mom that will surprise you, they are treasures themselves. That story is awesome and was in your Mothers memory, you made it come out. Get down there with the D2 when you're done with the Manticore. Keep us posted, thanks Daniel.

tnsharpshooter. . are you still using your Deus2. I was very impressed with the "Fast" program in a sea of iron . . . never had a detector with unmasking magic like this one. I'm still learning the D2 and I'm a little excited about it. I'm back in the game because of it.

About the youtube video that Rob in Ca posted . . . . . . How can one know there is a delay if you don't know the exact location of the nail? I know Minelab's have exacting pinpoint . .but I didn't see him PP the target first. You'd have to test it while seeing the nail. Is he talking length/duration of the signal, maybe?

From what I've seen on Calabash's video, the screen and the way they laid it out looks pleasing, crystal, and easy to navigate. Also, I don't see much depth difference between the D2 & the MC. Correct me if I'm wrong.
