Well now Dan---thanks for the "scolding" to all of us "would be/wanna be" techies!---we needed dat--- laf (I'm kiddin ya)-----Hey, didn't you ever want to know what made that vehicle you were driving go 120 mph as opposed to say 70 or 80?--------Seriously---I think it behooves all of us to have a little in depth knowledge about the make up of any individual detecto

So the sensitivity setting adjusts the gain (plus or minus) from the receive response that you get COMING BACK from the coil.----Depending on adjustment, it can have the "appearance" of the detector detecting deeper (or shallower) on targets.-----When in actuality, the transmit "output" is always the same (non-adjustable).-----That is always the way I have understood it and it

I keep hearing this--Some "say" that the Fisher GBSE 2.9 version, "29er" is a hotter & deeper machine than the later GBSE's or Tek G2's.----Is there anything to this?----The first out 2.9 version had to be sent in for the "silver fix"---right?-------Then you also hear that there is no difference in ANY of them (GBSE or G2) except the handle & butto

Very interesting test/report Keith.----For anybody that is interested in this coil (8X6 SEF)---I see that Kellyco put them on sale the other day ($129.95 delivered).---I think that's about thirty bucks off regular price.-----------Del

Nobody has tried both pair of these h.p.'s?-----I know that the 99's are going to be heavier/bulkier than the Golds but was trying to find out if there was any real advantage in the 99's over the Golds?-----------Del

What advantage(s) does the Koss QZ-99 have on the Sunray Pro Golds?----I know that those two h.p.'s have been discussed some here on the forum but didn't really note what (if any) advantage the Koss 99's would have over the Golds.----Would appreciate any comparison opinions on those two h.p.'s.------------Thanks, Del

If they ever come out with a detector that can distinguish gold rings (from the junk)----I'll sell the farm to get it!!------At this point in time at least---think we are all "stuck" with digging a lot of lower conductive junk to get the gold.------Unfortunately, that just plain isn't feasable in most of the places I hunt.-------There's A LOT of gold out there in the grou

Thanks John, good info.-----I have the G2 and I know the Greek series coils are inter-changable with the G2/GBSE coils (at least the DD coils for those detectors are).----For those b.c. infested areas, I wonder if the 10" concentric coil (Omega stock coil) mounted on the G2 would work well on the G2 and if so be an aid in b.c. identification as well.----I'm not sure if that concentric c

Thanks guys for your responses.---------Tom, is there a particular detector in the 1200 series that you would recommend over the rest (in that series) for i.d.ing steel b.c.'s?------------Thanks, Del

Can we have some opinions as to the best detector/coil combo for "handling" those pesky steel bottle caps (crown caps)?----Some of the old sites I hunt are just "infested" with them (in certain areas) and I know there are good targets in there if I can just get around these things.----I use mainly DD coils which certainly doesn't help with the b.c. issue but I use two or

I know you was TerraDigger & I thought it was very funny.---I was just trying to put a laugh in this thread also.-----Now speakin for myself--I don't know if I am a better detectorist than humorist or not!----May be a half a-- toss up at both--but I sure have a lot of fun trying.-----We all enjoy your posts---keep 'em coming!------------Del

Interesting thread!----Don't see where anybody has mentioned the (burrowing) earth worms and their (possible) effects on coin sinkage.----Which brings to mind a question I have always wondered about & never yet researched.-----If in fact earthworms do have an effect on coin sink rate (and I believe they do)---what is the deepest earthworms would be (through out) the ground?---I realize t

Brad-----I agree with you about perhaps not all of those slimlines (somehow) were not created equal.---The wife & I had 3 or 4 of them on our Explorers before we gave up on them & I just never was all that impressed with them.-----I guess they were "kinda" ok but the ones we had seemed to be more "jittery" than the earlier coils (especially in wet grass).----------Keit

Regarding those Minelab 1050 coils on that other post.-----So the 1050 coils were foam filled? (guess they would have to be or they would weigh a ton--even more than they do, if epoxy filled, being so "clubby").------Question is: Some of these coils had labels, "FBS 1050" (I think the earlier ones)---and I think the later ones had labels "Minelab 1050".------What

Dis-regarding the advertising "hype"-------Which is the best (Minelab Explorer) coil---the old FBS 1050--or the new 11" Pro?--------Why??--------I got my own ideas but wanted to see what others feel about these two coils.------I know one thing, that old 1050 was "a tough act to follow"-----(at least in its day)---maybe still??----------Del

This question may have been asked (and answered) before.--Forgive me if it has been as I didn't see it.-------Does the CZ-3D work well in the higher mineralized areas (western states--OR, CA etc.)?----Was wondering how well it gb's & performs in these type of (mineralized) areas with it's concentric coil.-----Any other info you could give in this regard would be much appreciate

Aaron-----I haven't checked at different coin shops but my coin shop offered me 25X face a few days ago (silver has went up some since then).-----At the 25X, that was probably low even then.----The 32X face (at todays price) seems attracive.---Be interesting to see what some of the other guys say (todays prices)---I've been wondering about this myself.-------------Del
