Holding out hope the long talked about mutli freq CZ replacement will come down the pike. A lighter weight with a modern blunt nose DD coil and crisp processing could be a thing of beauty.

Been looking at the Core for months and still haven't heard anything definitive regarding it's raw depth. Sensitivity to small objects, yes. Here in my mostly mild Central VA dirt what I consider deep is 11" on a dime and 15"+ on a .58 Minnie ball. The only machines I've personally had to do it was a Blue and Grey Pro and a Exp 2, and the Blue and Gray would have trouble

The internet thing is a great point Steve. We went through it with the V3, AT PRO, and CTX as they all caught a ton of flack out the gate but seem to be rectified now. You could potentially have 6-8 Units be lemons out of a 1000 and the word is out. One good thing is if there are issues the high visibility helps make sure things get addressed.

I found on an explorer the ultimate gets about 1-1 1/2" more depth on a copper penny in mild dirt. Also seems to ID deep nails quite accurately. Cant beat that 10x12 for seperation

Whites does list them as "weatherproof" or something like that. Kinda makes you think theyre targeting the pro. Can't help but wonder how she'd do with a 13" Ultimate or 10x12 SEF.

RIP American detector manufacturer's. Hate to say it, but we're seeing it happen. Im sure there not going away anytime soon, but innovation is dead, and it's cheaper to make a machine and source parts abroad. Been hearing for a few years about what FTP has coming and they lay 2 big eggs. A lighter CZ that uses a modern DD SEF/AT pro type coil could be a game changer if we see it. W

Returned mine when it broke on the 3rd target located with it. My dealer told me he's had a lot more come back in the last 6 months or so than when they were first released. Not sure if it's just hearsay but around the forums guys that got them shortly after they were released seem to have gotten good ones, but recently they don't seem to be doing so great. Maybe something's

A few thoughts...Run AA's not a 9V, they last longer and are cheaper. There are holiday deals on AA's out now. I got 70 rayovac alkalines for $10.50 at Lowes on black Friday. Should be set on PP batteries for a long time. Hold the tip on the ground when turning it on initially for best performance, they are VLF not pulse like some pin pointers. You can adjust sensitivity, but most find

My experience with the garrets is their junk. The switch has thin plastic peice under that breaks. Why they'd put something so delicate in a high stress area is beyond me. Mine broke on the 3rd hole with.
I own 2 trx's and love them. If your a coin shooter they're perfect. As they keep you from damaging items w/ur digger due to the strong directional sensitivity. I also love

I have two and don't need both as I have only have one Whites machine currently...Willing to consider trading for a different whites coil or FBS coil.

In addition to what triplehooked said, the higher filters the faster the machine can be swung. Personally I don't use anything over the 5 bands as you will see diminished depth. Running 12 khz was reminiscant of the old blue and gray pro/5900's speed wise, although you don't get more depth by swinging faster.
Recently I spotted a wheat penny partially on the surface with an ir

Minelab parts in general are ridiculous. Combined with they're pretending older models don't exist and outrageous service bills. If it weren't for the performance I'd gladly walk away from them.
That said, those FBS dogs just hunt.

Good stuff gents. Im very intrigued. I have a few sites that I dig minnie balls down to 14-15" w/my VLF's. Just whispers or theshold breaks that become diggable after raking away some topsoil. Even the buttons are really deep. I cant help but wonder what Im missing. Other than shotgun caps and the like most items pertain to the camps that were there. Can you determine relative depth

Thanks. So is there is minmal advantage to a PI over a hot vlf in moderate dirt? Im sure not all PI's like VLF's arent equal...Ive been hearing the gpx4800/5000's are pulling some insanely deep items bad dirt or not, and yet offer a keen user the ability to differintiate ferrous or non.

Generally speaking and I realize there's a ton of variables, but what's the greatest depth you can pull say a penny/dime in dirt (not sand)? Have you "hunted out" a site with a VLF returned and pulled additonal coins with a PI below the traditional 11" range that most deep VLF's begin to peter out at? This would be in moderate soil and not highly mineralized.

Don't think the v series whites get the credit they deserve. Its hard to describe but they just "swing right" to me, guess its the tried and true chassis. Hope they don't get away from them as time goes on. I'm in the same boat as you, a CW relic hunter by heart, but have turned to chasing coins a lot in the evenings after work for convenience. I have the Vx3 and have dug

Posted a few weeks back about "moving up" to the etrac from my beloved Explorer 2 w/10x12 SEF combo, mainly due to ergonomics and hoping my ailing wrist would appreciate the ergonomics of the etrac (mainly handle angle/less coil heavy). I Took a while off to hunt, even scored a personal best buck, rested and did some therapy on the wrist.
After 2 weeks I felt much better Saturday mo

I gave white's Mixed mode a shot, with a Nautillus in my history I thought I'd like it but it just doesn't appeal to me like. Maybe it requires more time, and I can see it being useful for squeaking out a hair more depth but I personally didn't click with it, kind of hard to explain but it just was more of a nuisance than the old tyndall machines. If it works for you, by all m

Thank you Albert. Will be watching those machines closely going forward.
Think Im just gonna go for the Etrac and see hiw the rest period works out. Maybe look into one of the smaller sunrays or 6x8 Sef to lighten the load and pick at the house sites when needed.

Thanks all. CTX looks great but hard to justify the significant price jump for my hunting (the wife would kill me lol). I can get a gently used Etrac and a F75/T2 variant for the same price.
Can anyone elaborate on the silver tone being lost on the etrac? Im guessing high conductors like copper pennies and clad dimes have a similar tone, and the smart find along with #'s relays the info?

Thanks guys. That FBS target ID and audio is just so hard to beat. My partner runs the a deus; not going to knock it and get into details on that machine but Ive used it and Im not interested at this time.

I noticed the same thing w/the 10x12 SEF coil vs the 1050 coil. Not sure whether its deeper, maybe, but the deep signals just hit cleaner. Dug alot more 8-11' pennys and dimes after switching. Have not tried a harness, honestly have always thought it sounded ridiculous but hey if it means getting out or not I may have to consider it. 2 1/2 hours is about a max hunt w/the Ex, I can go 4-5 wi

Been using an Explorer 2 w/10x12 SEF for a while now and it's served me well. Its my old copper/silver deep seeker. The heft of the FBS coil also knocks down tall grass and saplings without chirping. Im one with the machine and can accurately call super deep coins even when the cursor flutters. I may go slow, really slow in fact but I dont think I miss many high conductors in cleaner ground.
