Crabman,
Good luck on the gold field. Back when I was in the Marines I was stationed at 29 Palms (smack dab in the middle of the Mojave) and was a artillery surveyor. We spent a lot of time out in the desert setting survey control and exploring many old gold mines that were out there. I did have visions of gold nuggets in my mind. The lure of treasure hunting started then but that was so long

The seminar required the use of nearly 5 of the video cassettes, which will be edited onto two DVDs, relic hunting & water/beach hunting. The process is tedious and the guy handling the editing still has to tend to other editing but we should be getting the master dvds before long! I'll keep you all advised.

The editing process is under way but editing nearly 5 hrs.of talk time is a big chore but I will post when they are done and what the cost will.

Haven't heard too many comments as yet on the new Gold Bug and if there is a bigger coil than that hockey puck it comes with. After some limited prospecting experience out in Apache Junction I decided that "ain't" my bag. I was curious as to it being much of a beach jewlery hunter.

Panman,
I was on the FMDAC board of directors at the time that occurred and we did initially donate money to the defense of the two guys, but sent the Chapter president to the hearing to get the straight story. We invited the Park Rangers responsible for the area to speak to us, which they gladly did, and had photos of the area pointing out the areas of obvious trespass. We were completely con

Tom,
The word I got from the group is that they are planning a kidnap. They weren't done with you yet when we had to pull the plug. My pastor was extremely impressed and fascinated by what he heard but wasn't ready to throw away his golf clubs yet! But then he has never experienced seeing gold in the bottom of the scoop or an old Spanish reale unearthed!

Coinhunter,
Sounds like you have done pretty good so far and good luck on subsequent trips. Love them CZ's. I've had every one from CX6 on up, except CZ70. I have a CZ3D and a CZ20 plus a few other incidental detectors just to keep my wife nagging about all the money I spend.
Down here in Tampa Bay area the Condos, parking lots and shopping malls have taken over and finding silver

Thanks Mike, looking forward to hearing how you did. I could have saved you a few bucks maybe. I don't know anything about surgery but I sure got a bunch of tools.

Panman,
Glad to see your post, I was SE Chapter president for about 8 years ansd still am Vice President but health issues made it difficult to fulfill a lot of the job responsibilities!
A lot of the hobbiests don't realize all that is done by the FMDAC and feel that nothing is going to happen to them. I find it hard to believe that all the people out there swinging $800 to $1000 detec

Hey Gang,
Wow, a 2 1/2 hour seminar lasted for 4 hours. Now I'm suffering from brain freeze from all the info I tried to absorb. Well we all know Tom, once we wind him up he never runs down.
We had nearly a 100 there, but would have more if the weather wasn't so bad. I noted a good many in the audience hectically scribbling notes trying to keep pace with Tom.

Tom,
Sounds good to me. I was concerned about the weather but as I understand it the worst of it should be passed us by noon or 1 PM. We'll grab some grub and then go over to the church, even the pastor would like to meet you and he is dedicated golfer that doesn't understand the detecting concept. We have an ear mike lined up so you can wander about the stage.

Gates 21,
I'm a retired police sgt. from St. Pete, FL and have offered our club to be used in crime scene searches to the area departments. My idea was to place a marker flag at good signals and let their CSI people do the recovery. I do have several retired officers in my club, familiar with handling of evidence, meaning do not touch, and we would be the only ones to respond in most case

Along the beaches south of Clearwater, FL we have been finding square nails and quite a few of them. In the past year they have been doing a lot of beach re-nourishment and it has always been a dream of mine that their suction tube could be shoved down into the hold of an old treasure ship wreck and now being blown all over the beach. Just a dream but....those square nails come from some where an

Forum members,
After careful consideration we decided to move the seminar to my church. We have seating room for at least a 100. There is a sound and video stage with lighting in place and provision to make master DVD's.
The seminar will be on Friday March 12th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM with a refreshment break. Our Church is Sea Breeze Community Church 10321 75th Street N. Seminole, FL

Hey Mike,
I sure like that 3D you sold me. I did find a couple of diamond encrusted platinum rings with it and tomorrow we're going to hit a 20's house in an exclusive section of town. High hopes. Also we'll be making DVD's of Tom's seminar here and they'll be available. Plans are for one on Relic hunting and one for Beach & Water hunting. I know you want to c

Shilodigger,
Clean the V nickel carefully. If it's an 1886 (key date) coud be worth a few bucks. Several years ago I dug one at an old boy scout camp along with a handful of clad and one merc dime. The V nickel was so dirty I threw it along with the clads into some sort of toxic concoction that I thought would clean them. The next morning I realized what I had done but the "V" w

Julien,
I'm getting the equipment from my church and I can have the seminar there also and that would make a good set up. They make videos all the time and up until recently provided a video of Sundays sermon to the Hallmark channel for play on Thursday mornings until the channel decided not to do worship services anymore.
My only concern is getting out of towners unfamiliar to the ar

Dan & Aaron,
I normally hunt that way in the water with my CZ 20! It's amazing how much tin and iron junk is in the sea bottom but I think the halo effect is bigger in auto tune and lets me cover the area better and it's easy to switch between 0 and 1. We always find the best jewelry in the water so we sure don't want to miss any!

Ozzie and Rover,
I usually relish during this time of the year, since I live in Florida, and can get a few digs in on you guys up in Igloo land. .... But this year has been brutal. January and February combined have made this just about the coldest winter we have ever had. El Nino creates a steady west wind that we have had to deal with for 6 months or more. I live on the Gulf Coast so the ste

Yes we do plan on video taping it. The first part of the program will be a relic hunting program and then Beach & water hunting program. Probably post it in two sections. There are a few problems to work out but should be OK.
But there is nothing better than being there and getting to ask the questions you need and just picking Tom's brain. He's bringing his beautiful wife and dau

Mike,
I have a Troy X-5 and bought it for both it's quality and ultra light weight. It's weather proof, dust proof, and like the little battery bunny, takes a licking and keeps on ticking! I can't say that I've had any problem with EMI but I'm not sure that's much of a problem in this area. I have used it in the Southwest, Northwest and mid atlantic as well as sunny

Tom, I recently purchased a chest harness and holster for 3D from Fisher. Unfortunately the holster turned out to be for a 1236 and wouldn't fit and they don't make one for CZ3D anymore! I have a commercial seamstress that lives a block from me that could make one for me, unless you might have one in your spare parts bin! It should make waterproofing a lot easier since the holster itse
