I have no problem with law abiding folks carrying guns in the park. It was just a comparison. It could have been race related as he was as rude as he could be and it just got worse when his name was asked. It was just a feeling because of the way he treated me Seaweed. Have you spent any time in the south? Reverse racism is alive but it is not talked about as if mention I'm the raciest. I w

So hunting at a park that I hunted last week. Several police came through and even saw another ranger go by. No one said a word to me. Then a different one shows up and tells me a statue says I can't do that in the parks. I responded "do what". "That" was his response. Seems like he didn't want to say metal detecting. I said OK your the man and I will leave but I hav

I've had a run in with dogs that are suppose to be on leashes in our parks. None were pitts. Had to call police to get one guy to put his on a lease and even had to stick my coil in his face to stop him from biting. Owners response was "oh he is normally friendly". BS. He saw me calling and jumped in car and left. Gave them his tag and they fined him. I have 3 dogs myself and had t

At this site I was using TTF and the high tone had a smoother full sound. Had just moved out of the trash field to hunt the roots of a very huge old Oak. This coin does have dark staining on front side. When I hunt parks with my friends we compete on highest nickel count. Haven't found a ring in the nickel range yet. The rest all over the place. Nickels add some fun to the hunt.

When the manganese breaks down would that leave pitting or some sign of pitting? While stained none are pitted. Certainly means if you feel there is any chance of finding one at the site you have to dig all signals.

I found a 43s silver war nickel yesterday and it came in at 12-39 on my E-Trac. Strange as the last one was a 12-21 which I thought was weird at the time.. Got home and did air test on several I have found this year. I got 12-15, 12-16 12-21 and 12-28. Broke out the G2 and got 58, 59 and the one I got yesterday a 78. What can cause a coin to come in at so many different area's? Sure has got

I pop 4 Advil at a time almost every time I go hunting. It gives me an extra couple of hours. Didn't have sore muscles until I started MDing. I must be a sadist as I love that kind of pain. lol Then it is off to the hot tub if the weather allows for 15 minutes at 103. Then there is the knees that are stiff until the pills kick in. Girl in my club uses a Swingy thing, shovel where allowed an

Heading back Thursday afternoon. Taking both the ET and the G2 with the 5" NEL coil for the G2. I have a friend who has a CTX 3030 with 6" coil that is going along. Taking a video this time. Very cold here for time of year so cant get out today. Even had snow accumulation in my yard in east Charlotte.

PittsburgWill, TTF is a setup where you set the unit for 2 tones. A low tone for ferrous targets and a high tone for non-ferrous targets. With the open screen(almost no discrimination) you hear all iron targets but this allows you to hear targets that would ordinarily be masked by the iron. This setup allows the ET to process info quicker. The ET with FBS has to process a lot of info in Conductiv

My new friend that got me on the "Haunted House" site last month which produced my oldest coin to date (1876 Seated Quarter) gave me a new lead this morning. House was located just across highway from his business in the woods and has been gone along time. You could tell from the arrangement of the trees and the large house size sunken area where the house had been located. This was t

Probably the new version of the Golden Umax. My understanding they still have not been able to upgrade the old tone version yet. Anyone know if that has changed?

I have a 3 yr old Safari I still use at school fields but since I have gotten my E-Trac it is sitting around a lot. It does show signs of use but works great. I hit the screen with my Lesche when pulling it from the pouch. It has a small dent in the screen but doesn't block anything from being seen on the screen. I was told it would cost with shipping around 140.00 to replace the front and m

Got permission to hunt a house and they also owned this one. House is considered haunted and I got to say it is spooky. Built in 1876. Qwner stated it has been hunted but I'm sure they didn't have a MD that could see through the iron. Every coin had a nail or screw by it so I can see why they were missed. This is just from the front yard as the back is grown up and needs mowing. I would

I found the AT I had was on the money. I just didn't like the tones and the nose heavy feel of it. This one was a good unit and deep hitting. It would hit a dime at 10" in my 3.5 year old test garden. My garden is mineralized ground so it puts most units to the test. I would consider another one but hope the new one is multi-freq.

I set it up with the relic pattern that comes with the unit and change the settings that Goes4ever recommends on his site. Google it and you can get the changes there. TTF is noisy but I am using a 6x8 sef and a 4.5x7 Excelerator coil and work the areas with iron slower than I normally would with conductive. Just realize your not going to cover a lot of territory like this.

Had a good first month with the ET. Used TTF to recover all the finds except the 10k ladies ring(10-10 Conductive). Lawnmower put a break in the band which would explain the TID I had it for 3 days and it developed a problem with the arrow keys but before I sent it off I got the man's wedding band {11.4Grams 12-22} in a iron filled park where a mill had been. The coins came from various yar

They were selling so fast for awhile that Garrett couldn't keep up. That would tend to make more for sell. But I suspect that a lot of folks found that there is a lot more to finding the "25.00 pennies" that the MD show using the AT Pro led them to believe.

Covered some ground for these finds. Small front yard in Albemarle was brutal. Iron in the ground and massive power lines surrounded the property. But was a 20's home. Safari was a bit unstable but it was manageable. Clad, old shaver handle and the worn 1918 Mercury Dime. Then Friday joined another friend and went to Winnsboro, SC to see what we could find. People were friendly and got permi
