Nice review Des, sounds like it did well in woodland, should do well on my old mild pasture as well, will suit analog fans looking for top performance.

I think if you played around with the frequencies/settings or changed over to a HF coil on the Deus you would probably get just as good signal as the Equinox on most targets
BUT the Simultaneous multi frequency on the Equinox is hot on low, medium and high conductivity targets at the same time
That is the whole point of multi frequency and means you are always in the "right" freq

Why wasn't he digging deep nails all over the field then?

A small silver/gold hammered coin can hit just like aluminium foil but obviously their densities are very different, could the analysis of eddy currents differentiate?
A detector that could actually remotely detect the density of objects could be set to ignore all other objects with a density less than lets say 14ct gold, a person could then swing that detector in the happy knowledge that i

If someone ever figures out a way to remotely measure the density of objects using an electromagnetic field they will win a Nobel prize and acquire riches beyond the dreams of avarice.
I am currently working on it in my shed and expect to solve it in a few thousand years or so...

I would say this level of performance is crap,,,if an uknown Chinese brand had brought out this then NOBODY would be defending it...quite the opposite in fact.
I'm hoping the 66 is far better as I need a portable detector

There is a lot of people who want a foldable detector that would fit in a backpack but they need to up the performance to at least Xterra level and certainly not have it id all deep targets as iron like the Go 60 which was a piece of crap.

What I've noticed is that when Tom and Keith are absent from the forum like they have been lately.....the tone of forum goes downhill pretty quickly.

excellent realistic review, all of us over here in Europe are usually seeking low to medium conductivity finds so the Equinox should be a big hit over here.

Thanks for all your reports, from what I've read the gold 2 mode is the deepest on both low and high conductivity targets, I wonder would it hit all those coins....

I'm not sure but when he tried it with the cut quarter it went pretty quiet from a couple of directions which it wouldn't do if it was just falsing on the nails...but yeah he should have swept nails only first.

It's incredible to pass the nail board test with a hammered penny.....and with an 11 inch DD coil, the 6 inch coil was airtesting 8-9 inches with recovery speed 8!
I'd love to see Keith's review with the 6 inch coil....although we don't know how it performs in red dirt yet.

Good review, So a top dirt machine combined with (possibly) the best VLF beach detector ever made and for less than $1000, what's not to like?
I wonder will third party coils appear from NEL and MARS, I'll bet they are working on it already, imagine the sharpshooter or snake coil on the Nox....

Yes that's a good point if you watch all Keiths's nailboard vids you will see that any detector with an 11" inch DD coil is going to strugle, even the new Deeptech Go
