One day I wish for just one campfire, where all are welcome, and feel as such.

OK, here is the short version, for i am still recovering and am in
pain from my very recent surgery...
Several years ago there were two "well seasoned" metal detectorists down in Texas
that ended being arrested and having their detectors confiscated.
The FMDAC, trying to help these two men, began an investigation.
After the investigation was completed it was learned t

Hey Wally, I'll call you early this week coming up regarding both of our health situations...they added a few chapters to mine, and we will have one of our nice talks (i always look forward to them)...
for those of you who dont know Wally, he was being extremely modest in mentioning his role to our hobby.
Both Thomas D. and Wally S. are the type of people in which if you want to "fo

-It needs to beyond pondered.
There are 2 main reasons, informed but wrongly informed, dont support the fmdac...both reasons different though created by those who only wish they were plagued with literacy (at least i wish they were).
I just got back from a 5 day hospital visit and my body's too weak to support the adrenaline rush i am gonna get when i bring this story up in forum...exp

Wally my buddy ol pal,
I'll be in surgery on Monday, back home Friday/Sat.
Not doing travel for a while...but yeh, you know I wanted to be there for Tom's discussion and to hit the sand with you (and Tom if he doesn't mind being out hunted by "the masters") but my surgery's really killing that time frame, regarding life outside of my home/recovery...

right on...they're resolving issues currently too...it really would be a great time to not only join, but contact their organization, let them know you've read that article and see if there could be a way you as an individual or as/with a club could help in any way.

I have been checking Minelab forum sites for this comparison, in which I would figure this would be a huge topic...but with no avail.
I compared features and such on the Minelab website, but I wanted to hear some actual field comparisons.
Anyone?

Was thinking more of a deep seeking tool as a cache hunting secondary tool.
Could also be usewd to look directly under almost any tree or many other types of natural and/or man-made above ground objects.
If you can control how much of the "spike" or "coil" is utilized, in which the transmition would start at the tip and you can work it so it gets any depth as user controls h

Tom, would there be a way to make a detector that works differently, like a probe you stick down like 2 feet...signals would go outward and return the same...on top is a "compass style" box on top that shows you direction and depth of object...good for caches...etc...is that possible to create a 2' "probe type coil" thats strong enough to shove in dirt? I know this forum

I don't know if it was a hoax or just misinformation followed by many who caught the scent and wished to share...but I looked in to it and the person who I talked with (who is a friend) did not want me mentioning their name, but it is an executive for Minelab/Vegas, and once again, no new Minelab detector of any kind will be surfacing this year.

Yup.
Highly mineralized soil will "break up" and "spray" the signals...
kinda in comparison to let's say the signal being masked by tiny
thousands of "traces" of iron...the transmitting signal bleeds
and weakens as it collects this masking type of information,
lowering the power of its transmitting signal as it continues to
transmit and try

First of all, the analogy of a Ford C.V. to a Honda was made by someone taking the F-75's side. There is truth to the analogy of weight when talking certain items...for instance, the best example would be T.V.'s, not vehicles...Before plasma and lcd when choosing a TV for quality, one of the ways to compare two equally sized, quality (on paper) and priced TV's was the weight test,

And I just want to repeat what Tom said, because yes, it has happened to me...in "busy" areas, if that coil picks up another target whilw pinpointing, your pinpoint wont be do-able...and with acoil as hot as the one on the f-75, you will have to change your pin pointing "habits", like shortening the pin point sweep for one thing.

Great story...it may sound wierd to some, but this stuff happens...
An extremely similar hair raising story with a slow walking old man there, then seconds later impossibly gone...except it was at a racetrack and the penny would be the winning horse...if he wasnt gone so freakenly fast i wouldnt of made the bet, but it was so eery how he was there then vanished i had to make the bet, and i felt
