On rings that can be cleaned by hand easily some silver polish or some baking soda paste does a good job.
On items that can't easily be cleaned by hand, and this ring was one of mine, science works much better.
This was found in the bank of an old fishing pond, because of the dampness it was sitting in for decades it tarnished to black...I was shocked when I saw a 925 mark on the thing.

Mackenzie Crook wrote them all, the show was his idea and he is an actual avid detectorist in real life...supposedly.
That's why it seems so familiar and real to us, the best writers write what they know.
"You're one of us now....Just need some camouflage.
~ Why do detectorists wear camouflage?
To hide from predators.

I have been hunting parking lot dividers in public places for years.
Mostly parks and schools, not many islands in the shopping centers around me.
I have found tons of clad, in high school lots several tools, more jewelry in mostly high school and college parking lot islands than you might believe.
Not just junk either...the good stuff.
Below is just some of the silver jewelry I have found

This iron cannonball...probably caseshot vs. the usually larger grapeshot.
Found in an area I had no idea had any civil war activity, at the time I thought it was just some sort of unusual small iron ball and almost threw it away.
Glad I didn't.
Also tools, I have dug a lot of them over the years, here are just a few.
A favorite is this Disston and Sons saw complete with the

I'm back!
Got a new big DD coil from Dilek, one week from Istanbul to my porch so that was pretty cool.
The new coil was mounted and I have not taken it off since.
Seems to work well except the depth numbers seem to be off some, even in U.S. units the correct depth seems a little short on shallow targets, I have not come across a lot if really deep stuff yet which is the goal but between

I assume this would be something akin to balancing way low like you get on black sand saltwater beaches.
How do you get the GB so low?
Can it be adjusted after get that higher number after pumping?
Mine GB's between the mid 60's and low 80's so I would love to try this because right now I am getting ok depth but nothing spectacular so far.

Now you are attempting to pass yourself off as an administrator.
You are more stupid than I thought....much more.
You have been successful at nothing despite your claims, in your fantasy world sure, in the real world you are a complete flop except for your superpower for upsetting whole forums.
Keep posting till you are wiped out...again, it is entertaining to see you flounder around trying to

Yes I have an issue...it's you and your incredible stupidity.
Bashing, laughable...that has to do with respect and who do you think respects you here?

Sounds like this actually might be his wife defending him, defending his noble deeds and his laughable blog failure.
Or it's him.
Either way this person is just as stupid, just as annoying, just as unwanted as the original.
He wants to fight, he says things that make him hard to ignore on purpose, he is truly the worst of what the internet can offer.
If this is his wife I feel sorry for

He started his own website and that failed miserably and has been kicked off every other detector forum I have heard of and mostly for the same reasons...he makes people mad, does everything he can do get under their skin and purposely repeats doing it too.
He does it under the guise of improving the forums, or starting a dialog to discuss issues pertaining to our hobby or some other noble purpo

Exactly why when an old and venerable club member was cleaning out his closet and offered me 2 Compass Judge 2's for $20 I jumped on it.
One doesn't work at all but it is good for parts, the other needs some TLC but still works and one day I will get it refurbished right.
If I only use it sparingly in iron but it finds me one great thing all worth it to me.

Just got a message on my phone from Makro...new coil will arrive on Wednesday.
Looking forward to it.
The other day I was in a tot lot with chips and I reached about 7-8" with the small coil.
In regular dirt I still seem to be getting at least to 5" with actual, stable, non jumping VDI numbers which is different...the big coil hopefully will get me even deeper with that same norma

Yep....just a constant overload signal the second I turn it on.
I switched back to the sniper and hoped it wasn't the unit and that was fine, every time I connected the 11", and I switched them around a few times to be s

Thanks Keith..
Tried three tones and they still sound extra good over pop tops and some screw tops but I will get it.
I did put the large coil on the other day to go over a few areas and see what else might pop up but bad luck...that coil is bad.
Overload signal 100% of the time the second it is hooked up and turned on.
No adjustments will fix it...definitely bad.

Hope so...
Here I see some fairly high GB phase numbers but more importantly that circle thing, 3/4's to full a lot of the time.
Maybe I will try that tracking thing on the next one.
I seem to be getting down to the 5" level so far no matter what even though on many i can't dig that far because of the current ground conditions.
Getting close to 60 days with no rain, we passed

Ok....a really short hunt yesterday, I have lots to do around the house lately but I got out for about an hour.
I was in a very trashy and iron heavy entrance area in my local park where I have found a few great things but it has been awhile since anything good has popped up.
I was hoping for just one decent thing but not on this hunt, but the real reason I was here was to check out the tonal I

I can do that sometime, but I can tell you what some of them sound like on my F70 right now...not like anything I should dig because I didn't.
Or they were extra masked, extra noisy, totally hidden or something else.
I missed all of them for some reason, I went over this area enough to hit at least a couple for sure.
Checking one against the other is the only way I guess, signal for signa

Iron with 10 numbers and expand the range up top...that is something more like what I am used to so that is sweet...really cool that a company hears their customers and can react as fast as they seem to be able to do.
All metal, my favorite way to hunt and I usually use that and all the noise, chatter and jumping plus all the overloads and actual real target signals don't bother me becaus

Thanks for the insights.
Going by audio is ok, I have my Tesoros and I love the audio on the Fishers but digging it all...I gave up on that long ago and just won't do it anymore.
There might be a way to figure out an 82 zincoln from an 82 piece of can slaw, the top of a can and many of the pop tops I come across out there.
Some trash in that range jumps around so that is good but many of

Short second hunt....a bit more info.
Changed over to US measurements...much better!
Picked up a few more clad coins fairly easily, found my first ever 100 Lira coin that came in at 72 which is cool, except for Mexican I rarely find foreign coins here and not many of those either.
Nice and solid so I dug it...that is 6 cents I didn't have to dig.
