I know there are others that have recently bought the MDT, having trouble understanding why no further chatter about this machine. The more I use it the more I'm falling hard for this machine. I've got an Equinox and a CTX gathering dust now, something about the MDT that just clicks for me and I know I haven't got the final tweaks done to it, yet it continues to impress.

Paul, first off, great photos..... incorporating the drone really is interesting....but over here I'd probably get in trouble with the scenery in the water.... :-)
As for your settings you posted did you switch over to Mixed Mode to check target response?
Your post makes me wonder IF the lowered sensitivity would work for me on the beach so I'll be sure to find a spot with numer

Tom thanks..... so far on all the beaches over here I am now running -1 Threshold and occasionally 0. Sensitivity normally 7 sometimes 8

Dew, it uses an M8 BUT it appears to be a 3 pin compared to the MDT using a 4 pin.....they won't interchange IF I'm correct.....
and
why would any company use the same connector/pinout...….? :-)
Hope I'm wrong.....but I thought I saw 3 pins in Alexandre's picture.

Little over 4 hours of salt wet sand hunting. Settings 9KHz, Salt 30, Sense 8, Threshold -1, mostly hunted in All Metal.
Found the MDT at these settings is easy to hunt with, switching to Disc or Mixed at these settings will give more audible falses AND seems more prone to EMI.
Not shown were some bottlecaps and 4 pair of sunglasses.

Yesterday's hunt, 4.5 hours in the water. All targets from in the water and quite a few took longer than I wanted to spend on a target due to depth AND the hole caving in as I tried to straddle the hole and dig. This machine likes "round" targets, as you can see. I was digging some targets that had been there for a while (pile of crusty pennies and crusty coins/rings), I was invest

As for swapping positions of the mode and PP switches Dew, I think IF the size of the mode switch was larger, it would be easier to push without looking. Not using a glove on my detector hand helped but even then, I managed to turn the machine off once when TRYING to switch to Disc. I actually rarely use the PP switch and do find its location not ergonomically located for my right hand. PP funct

No wonder my arm was starting to chafe up near my elbow...… I just went out to look at mine Dew, yup, it is off to the side. Minor adjustment, at least it didn't break like the Nox did....
In addition to what Dew said about the machines not liking each other.... IF we were hunting with the same frequency AND got within 10 feet of each other, your machine would get chatty. Funny thing is,

Although I'll probably get one when they come out, I'm not sure I want to dig much deeper than I am with the Tarsacci in the water....
Glad it is getting close to coming out.

Tom, interesting test AND results.
I have a few questions.....my assumption is you were in All Metal mode for the hunt, how was the ID on those nickels at 14"? Bouncy +/- numbers or mostly +?
Did you switch over to a different mode(s) to make an ID decision?

Dew, to be honest, I just decided to start at 6.4KHz and see how that worked....only 30 minutes in I got the ring and figured why change.....

Finally got over a ring in the water. Soft sounding and took quite a while to finally get it....how I wish I could say how deep it was but it definitely was down there..Satisfying for a short hunt.
Running 6.4 KHz, All metal and switched over to Disc and heard a lower tone, water was murky so I couldn't see the screen for an ID number.

Interesting info Tom on the Salt Balance and good to know that it aligns with what I am experiencing over here with only slight variances in numbers. Not sure why I "assumed" it would be opposite with the lower frequencies needing a lower SB number.
Also interesting in the change in depth you have experienced with BS on/off over time on your beach.

Dew, I haven't turned Black Sand on yet. So much yet to learn about this machine....yet.... what I'm finding so far with adjustments seems to jive with what you have found.

Ok, let me ask a general question about the salt balance.....I spent most of my 30 odd hours with the machine in 9 KHz running with a salt balance of 27 - 32ish depending on beach and whether wet or water hunting, today I decided to try 18KHz and found it noisy with my normal settings (30 at the time) on the wet sand. I finally decided to adjust the salt balance (expecting to raise the number) b

Results from last night’s testing.
MDT Settings: BS off, Threshold -1, Sensitivity 7, Salt 30, 9 KHz, Disc +29, All Metal
Rings used: 2.5 gram 10k band, 13.5 gram Class Ring 10k
Tested in the wet salt sand, holes filled and packed down.
Previous testing showed the MDT could hear the 2.5 gram 10k at 12” so I started with 14” this time (ring laying flat). Neither the Equinox (15” coil) OR t

Third hunt with the Tarsacci 800....
Things I like about the machine: Strong lightweight build, Good balance overall, Great target modulation on small/deep targets, Great battery life, I'm at 10 hours now and the voltage is still 3.9 showing full on the battery indicator.
Settings used: BS off, Threshold -1, sensitivity 7, Salt 32, 9Khz most of the hunt, disc +29, mostly AM but did swi
