I'm trying to locate where the original fairgrounds are located in the county I grew up in. It was used from about the 1870's-1920's and then moved. Some of the old local history books show photos, and say it's 2 miles east of a town, but when looking at google satellite maps, it's hard to figure out exactly where this spot is located. I'm going to try to see if I

It seems like FT was originally going to share the same optional DD coils between the F5 and new Teknetics platforms, which to me implies their the same coils except with possibly different connectors and/or wiring pin-outs.
Anyone know if it's possible to share coils between the F5/Teknetics with an adapter, like Sunray made for the Edge to use Coinstrike coils ?
TIA,
Brian

I took the O8 out for a trial run Tuesday, and it's much less impacted by EMI then other newer F-series machines run in the same location. I was able to run it at 90 in a high EMI area, and as long as the coil was on the ground it was very stable. Once I set it down to dig, it was a different story, chattering away like an R2D2 sound off competition (wish I had a mute button, makes it chal

I unmasked a Barber dime with the 5" DD on my F70. About 2-3 inches away from the Barber was a little Victorian era engraved gold plated heart locket, but the locket base metal was (I presume) steel.

On the ID Edge I've been trying to figure out the best way to run it in the typical "bed of nails" environment. A member on the findmall forum suggested to do the following when hunting in the infamous "bed of nails" sites:
"I like to run sens up till theres no falsing on iron +36 -36 jumps using the small coil and dig all positive number's. Run the disc at

I met up with a friend at Golden Gate Park today to see if the CZ-70 would do as I anticipated it would in a heavily hunted park next to an EMI nightmare.
I'm happy to report that as far as EMI was concerned it was rock solid and stable with a sensitivity setting of 6 using the 10.5" coil. Depth was good, as I found it going deeper then my F70 at the same park. The F series machin

Tom - Thanks, I've read the CZ-70 Articles in the "Fisher Intel" report, great reading that should (hopefully) reduce the learning curve (am a bit worried about the deep iron "issues"). I'll try to run a sens of 6 so long as it's not too noisy. It does look like I got lucky on the 5" coil, it never wavered on the nickels and seemed to have decent depth wh

Albeit a bit heavy with the 10.5" coil, I think the CZ-70 Pro with it's pistol grip is comfortable to swing, like the identical C$ setup.
I ran the CZ-70 Pro through a variety of air tests to establish depth baselines, as well as TID accuracy. Had it set to 4 and 6 sens, didn't see a lot of difference between the two. GB was set to 5, and nothing notched out (although did fi

Unfortunately the finds weren't so hot, but I was able to run the C$ sensitivity at 8 (9 would just start to give off ground noise while in motion) which combined with a threshold of ZERO it ran smooth as could be with the 10.5" coil on it. Probably the hottest I've ever been able to run the C$ (with it being stable) but unfortunately it's drying up. While I didn't find

I didn't have a lot of time to detect, but I was going by Oakland and decided to take my F70 & the 11" DD with me as there's a park there I wanted to try. This particular park is right smack in the middle of the city, with skyscrapers all around it, yet I get ZERO EMI here, and previously was able to run fairly high sensitivity on the F70 (better then anywhere else, which is o

Oddly the 8" coil is absent in this CZ-70 Pro deal, so just the 10.5" and 5" coils. I'll try the nickel air test and see where they fall. I understand you have a standard air test baseline for the CZ3D to validate if it's a unit within spec. Does this same test apply to the CZ-70 ?
Thanks,

Thanks Tom. I'll dig some of the bouncing 90's on my next trip out to see what I might be missing. In trashy parks the F70 seems pretty bouncy as a rule of thumb, but if the #'s look interesting (coin area) I usually dig them, and more often then not find something good (at least clad).
Where I'm falling short is in getting depth out of the F70, I seem to be stuck at 6&

Tom I almost always run my F70 at 6 disc, sens & thresh depends on the location/stability, but I've been running 3H tones until yesterday when I tried 4H tones for the first time. 4H tones should effectively give me more audio clues independent of the VDI. While I was out yesterday hunting I got a lot of bouncers into the 90's, not well repeatable, but after reading your analysis

So F70 SL mode is deeper, but not as good in iron or trash...GRRR. I was using it today with the sens at about 80 and it seemed like it was struggling to lock onto coins, lots of iffy signals, which were mostly coins (or bottle caps), but you really had to work at them, seems like it should be able to lock on better.

I work for the largest network equipment manufacturer in the world, so I definitely understand the pirating issue as we had to deal with this issue as well. There's ways to prevent that issue though, such as encrypting the software/firmware. The other concern would be users botching the upgrade and creating an unnecessary RMA for FRL. If the upgrade software is robust enough (and easy eno

Thanks Tom, I appreciate the information. I hope I didn't make a mistake, as I just purchased a CZ70 Pro with the 5" and 10.5" coils. Hopefully it'll get me the depth I'm looking for. I have your DVD, which I believe is based on the CZ platform, so I'll have to review it again before the CZ gets here.
Thanks again,
Brian

IMHO the F5 has the BEST user interface I've ever seen on any machine hands down, easy to program, GREAT visual display with large numbers and meaningful real time information on the screen. If FRL would keep the F5 user interface/display, combined with dual (or triple) frequency technology (with the ability to select a single freq or a combination of freqs), and the high performance of the

Hey Lawrenzo, We know each other, same Cal_Cobra that hunted with you guys in SF this spring.
I guess I just don't feel I get the depth with the F70 I feel I should get, so was looking at something that might get me to that next level. I purchased the 5" DD when it first came out, and took it to an old but very pounded park in Oakland and was very impressed with it. I was able to

Hi,
My first post here, although I've been lurking for some time and have enjoyed reading the posts. I've been using Fisher detectors almost exclusively, with the exception being a Minelab Sovereign I use for beach detecting and once and a while try it for deep turf hunting. My Fisher arsenal consists of the Coinstrike, F4, F5, and F70. I'm still learning the hobby, and by no
