I heard he found everything there was to find in his neck of the woods. He's probably hunting or fishing, or scuba diving, or working the restaurant, or something else.

To the OP's question. I had the F19 until I started using the Makro Racer 2, then the Multi Kruzer and Anfibio. For a direct replacement of the F19, I feel the Racer 2 is faster, deeper, and has better audio features. I'd also take my ORX or Deus over an F19 for Iron infested sites. JMHO

The Apex isn't ready to go. I understand that the testers all had to return their Apex' back to Garrett to address some issues they are having with it.

Started with a White's Gold Master in 1975, found all kinds of silver back then. Owned Lots of White's detectors over the years and was a brick & mortar White's dealer in the 80's - 90's. I still have a number of White's detectors but they eventually became mostly wall hangers as they just couldn't perform like the newer releases from Minelab, XP, and Makro/

I was it was faster. My testing showed it to be much slower in response or recovery speed than the Nox, XP Deus/ORX and the Multi Kruzer. Only having the large coil doesn't help. The iron infested sites I usually hunt require a very fast recovery speed to pull targets from among the trash.

I've had both. I much preferred the Anfibio. I had the F75 just prior to getting the Impact. That caused me to sell the F75. Then I got the Multi Kruzer and sold my Impact because the MMK had all the features I needed with less weight, plus I had lots of lower rods that would fit the MMK but not the Impact. So all my extra MMK coil had lower rods for them. When the Anfibio came out, of cours

Find of a lifetime! I too spend a lot of time reading Tom's posts and appreciate the time and effort he spends educating us on the design and use to detectors. I don't respond or post but every so often although I read a number of detecting forums two or three times each day. I've learned a lot in my 45 tears of detecting and the knowledge gained by visiting here.
Awesome forum!!

I think it shows the popularity of the different brands. If I had to rank them on my 45 years of detecting experience, I think I would have ranked them in the same order. If I agree, then it can't be wrong. (wink - wink)
PS. I've only ever had one Garrett, The AT Pro. I didn't keep it very long.

Brian - Absolutely Great Finds! I read your post after I got home from a short detecting trip yesterday. After seeing your finds, I went out to my truck to retrieve my finds, a 1944D Wheatie, marble, unmarked gold ring and a 1 cent AZ tax token. Thru them right in the trash.

I'm not sure my Racer 2 was any deeper than my F75 but I sold the F75 after acquiring the Racer 2. There's more to detecting than maximum depth in many cases and my Racer 2 would pull targets from my F75 hammered sites. From the Racer and Racer 2, I went on to use the Impact, Anfibio Multi and the Multi Kruzer. I've settled on the Multi Kruzer as my primary iron infested site detec

Cal - How about a video showing the 6" vs. 11" but swinging 90 degrees from your last test. Be interesting to see how far away the nail has to be if its off the toe of the coils instead of off to the side.

Analog detectors suffer from the same cross-talk (interference) issues as digital detectors. Because the targets are very shallow, reducing the Gain/sensitivity will help with reducing the interference from other detectors. Using a detector that runs at a different frequency than most all the others on the hunt field can make a big difference. Perform an air test using a dime, on the detector you

Sorry. Not trying to get anyone upset with their purchase. I'm just Jealous and I don't understand how I managed to find anything all these years.
"I invite anyone not satisfied with a product to not buy one" Good advice, guess I won't.

Tom in CA - How do you like your CTX? If you don't have one, why not?
It's not the price that bothers me and as a business owner I understand the Whole profit thing. What bothers me is the way the CTX was designed. Really, $200 for a lower rod? I guess there wasn't $2500 worth of technology in the product so they had to justify the extra cost by designing a unit that folks could

It looks as though half the cost of the CTX was for the technology and materials, the other half was just because they could get away with it. Well P.T. Barnum said it better than I could. I appreciate everyone's input.
