I don't know but why is it that just about every VLF detector that has Discrimination labels or calls it discrimination and then a new detector comes out and and labels it Filter?

Why three? Why not two or four? Limits stink! Drink limits, speed limits, etc. I don't think we should limit ourselves on detectors. There's no such thing as too many detectors. They're like guns and tools in that respect.

That's what I've been doing with my Racer and 5" OOR coil. I like running the Gain at 01 in 3 tone and the disc at 23. It still gives 4" - 5" depth but the signal gets shrunk so it doesn't see adjacent targets so much. Also it reduces the overload signals so it's pretty much just the bottle caps that overload.

One of my detecting buddies was out detecting with his 10 year old grandson. He told his Grandson to go over and check along the fence that boardered the soccer field. "sometimes bills get blown over there". My buddy finds about $0.15 when his grandson returns with a $50.00 bill.

The Racer is now my #1 Saltwater Dry Sand detector. Before that it was the F19 or Gold Bug Pro but the Racer has so much more gain for depth and it gets better depth in the wet sand for when I dip down down there to see if it's productive or not. It the wet is producing then it's the Sovereign or Excal time.

Dealer cost is usually between 30 - 35% less than MSRP. Dealers can get them a little less if they buy in quantity. The Big K store used to be able to sell detectors for about what I had to pay. They of course would buy 50 of a model at a time.

Not all that surprising in that lower frequency detectors handle ground minerals better than higher frequencies. Nugget hunting detectors run at high frequencies to find small nuggets at shallow depths in highly mineralized soil but they of course incorporate ground balance capability. Many earlier detectors ran at about 2.5kHz and got very good depth on silver coins in mineralized soil. The reas

Looks like a crack to me but you'll probably need to use it to the point of it not being a question. Mine broke in a number of pieces. I sent an email with attached photos of the broken tabs and a photo of the serial number decal to calvit and he responded in about an hour. They mailed me a new coil by express DHL and I received it in less than a week. Included with the coil was a Makro Hat,

If you're just picking up newer clad out of the trash, don't be afraid to drop the gain even more. I very often run the gain at 01. It will still get you 4 to 5" of depth but it narrows the signal so you don't pickup adjacent trash items and if your digging too many zincs, just dig 83's and up and skip the 82's.

I'd have to know what type of hunting you're planning on doing before I'd make a recommendation. Each has an advantage in certain situations.

I've been pulling coins out from among the tabs and bottle caps with my Racer and 5" coil by running the gain at 1 and the disc (filter) at 23. The lower gain helps to keep the detector from picking up adjacent targets. Of course this only works for newer coins within about 4" of the surface.

Is it really considered "Vintage" if it's still being produced? I have to go with the Sovereign as far as "valuable" and not being produced.

The Racer came very quick to me. Keith's video on the differences between coins and bottle caps helped a great deal. Takes a little while to get used to that good target sound but it will come. I think I had it after about four or five hours. It helps a great deal to place a junk target about a foot or two from a coin and just listen to the difference in the sound. You can't do it by wa

I used a wired probe like the Sunray on my White'sEeagle II SL 90.5 in 1990. Made by a fellow that had a rather big drinking problem. He only made about five of them before his liver quit working. I still have one of them but not a detector to use it on.

Took my Racer with the 5" coil to a park full of MODERN trash. Ran the gain at 01 and pulled 106 coins. My buddy with his MXT and small coil pulled 18. We tested them side by side on a few targets and some of those the MXT couldn't see at all. I guess my Racer doesn't work in modern trash.

My Racer won't overload at 4" on a quarter either. I think many folks complaining about overloading don't take the time to really learn the detector and are cranking the gain up because that's what they have to do with just about every detector they've ever used. I very seldom run the gain past 50 when hunting parks or ghost towns here in the west. I know coins back east

Tnsharpshooter I agree 100%. In many trashy areas I've run the Gain at 01. Even at the minimum it will still detect cents at 4 to 5" with the small 5" coil. I too have had the MXT, MXT Pro, and M6 and I feel the Racer will run circles around all three of them in high trash areas using the 5" coil. In Arizona ghost towns I'm running the gain between 10 - 20 but items are n
