D&P,
I ran a ton of different settings on the Equinox 800 when I first received it. I was having "fun" playing with the different settings. I learned many things about the Equinox but I was using much faster of everything for settings. The biggest eye opener is when TomD mentioned to run F2-0 and use a slow recovery speed. Now, I mainly use 4 for recovery. As crazy as it sounds

TomD - Thank you for the analogy! Now I understand in more detail how EMI cripples performance.
Cellphones question: if I have my phone on me, can performance of the detector suffer effects of EMI even if my cellphone is in airplane mode or completely shut off ?

Stating and having facts (in writing too!!) are not cyber bullying. However some that have freely chosen to come on this forum and try to ruin someone is. Stating the facts ( and clearly having proof of them) on another platform isn’t cyberbullying either. It’s NOT calabash who’s extremely unprofessional and in the wrong. Anytime anyone from the other forum starts typing away and posting confirm

Facts: It is crystal clear from their own words you were sent packing and banned. The gall of coming onto this forum and hunting you down like you were wrong and were going to prove it...Nothing like hitting them right between the eyes with a 2x4 LOL This case truly is closed. I look forward to your upcoming reviews.

Tom,
Thank you for your clarification on the added 4khz. I have been running Park1 Multi and it's where I stay for my type of hunting and the results are fantastic!
I am glad I listened to your setting recommendations! - Jim

Tom,
Do you personally have anything in mind and is there something in the works to alter that "lump of wire at the end of a stick" ?
As I have mentioned in the past, I run here for all technical / operational information. The wealth of information you freely share I do not take for granted.
I sincerely appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge.

Hi Tom,
I have been meaning to ask for some time what the "various stability enhancements" are and do they translate over into Multi Mode? If they do, what am I missing that could possibly benefit me?
Also when I upgrade to 3.0 I noticed the audio didn't sound as "sharp" or "distinct" as it was with the software previous to the 3.0. I truly thought maybe

Tom,
I do not have an account on FB and never will. I do not post much but I certainly read your articles. Compared to other forums I have been on, this one (by far) has the most usable technical information. When I want to learn about metal detectors, this website is my # 1 destination. I know I do not add much to discussions however let it be known, your words do not fall on deaf ears. When

Tom,
Does this mean we could possibly see "signature tracing" in the future to distinguish between two similar targets on the Equinox / Multi-IQ? ( ex. chewing gum foil and a gold ring )
Thanks - Jim

The only way for me is 50 tones and do not run it any other way. Running 50 tones provides me with so much more information and nuances on the target(s) involved. One case in particular this Summer: I came across a target that ended up being multiple targets. Moving my coil ever so slowly, (BBS/FBS slow) I could hear the melody of tones as I scanned across the suspect target. I knew then there wa

You are welcome Tom. My other sites are higher in mineralization and I used the AT PRO extensively at them. (The chart listed below is for the AT Pro.) When I used the AT Pro it GB'd anywhere from 80-86. Not sure how that would translate to the F75 as far as bars.Hope this somehow helps. - Jim

Hi Tom,
I'm in CT and used a F75 for a short period of time. The one site I brought it to consisted of glacier sand / dirt and registered 2-bar. However, this is not typical dirt at the majority of the sites I hunt. Hope this helps. - Jim

Thank you gentleman.
Ozzie, I never looked at it being rarer then a gold coin lol I suppose that is the next item on my list.
I am still in awe and shocked how it was missed by countless hunters but I will take it!!

Mr. Dankowski,
Anytime you speak of settings and the operation of metal detectors (especially the Equinox) I stop and study your words very carefully.
When you started the above post, I read your words over and over and learned everything I could from your posts. When I first started with the Equinox (I possess the 800 model) I was running anywhere from 6-8 in recovery and running Iro

NASA Tom,
Thank you for your in-depth explanation. I would like some clarification on one thing you mention. Does F2 have to be on '0' in order to see the difference in target ID numbers? You use the example of tilted coins may have ID'd as 15-17,now they tend / want to ID as 18-20 (IH penny ID's). If I increase F2 above '0' does this increase stop the tilted coi
